One of my all-time favorite places to hike in Onondaga county. The trails here are fantastic and are well maintained. No end to the cool places you can explore.

The Morgan Hill State Forest is a great place to get out into nature and enjoy the fingerlakes trail system. Public fishing for rainbow & brook trout is available at Spruce pond. Hiking from there on the North Country Trail will lead you to the Jones Hill Vista overlooking the Labrador Hollow Unique Area, and ultimately downhill to Tinker Falls. The boardwalk at Labrador Hollow Unique area is also worth a visit.

This place is a little gem. Great for a day hike or an overnight. Its for hikers only, no bikes according to the signs. A take in, take out area. Be kind and leave no trace besides footprints.

A very underrated state forest as many people I know have never heard of it. Excellent place to hunt deer and turkey. Miles of hiking trails and a connecting spot for the NCT and fingerlakes trail as well. A nice trout pond too for fishing.

I did the Hemlock Glen portion 1.55 miles from Shakham road up to Morgan Hill road, really nice hike and well maintained and marked. I did the trek right after a rain fall so it was a bit slippery coming back down the trail. I suggest parking: N42 46.183 W76 01.148 great access point.

Great area. Nice to find free, off the beaten path camping. You have to go past lots of houses on your way so it kind of a treasure to have this natural area. No one bothered me. Only a few people drove up the road while I was there.

Beautiful! Call DEC to check where you can camp...not all previously used-sites are legal (there are designated camp sites and others that require permits including ones at Spruce Pond and ones near the roads...call DEC to check if you dont want to have to move your camp). Mountain biking trails are indicated on the DEC map.

Great but difficult mtbing. All the new trails (4mi.) have been rerouted, benched, bridged and raised in some places. Might find a berm or banked turn in there as well. Start on the Yellow from Morgan Hill Road and take it all the way to the end and all the way back. 12 miles of awesome.

I didnt really experience it. Seems nice, but I was guided there by the All-Trails app which told me it was a great road biking trail. It definitely is not. Looks like it could be a fun mountain biking trail though. There is space to park one car, maybe 2. Its on a hilltop, looks like a wide gravel trail to start and lots of possible off shoots. I didnt see any tables or restrooms.

Morgan Hill State Forest offers a wide arrange of opportunities for outdoor activities which range from hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, hunting and more. For myself, Ive used this area mostly for hiking. For example, part of the Finger Lake Trails passes through this area. There is also Tinker Falls which is quite scenic. The trails are well maintained and marked for the most part.
