What a relaxing place to pitch a tent and spend the night! There was only one other group on the beach that spent the night. So peaceful listening to the waves as the sun set while next to our campfire. It did get cold but our sleeping bags were suitable. Definitely a must do again.

Gorgeous State Park. Ive been visiting Mustang Island for years and I love it. We purchased a day pass. You must reserve in advance online and its $5 per person to get it. Its well worth it. The beach is very clean and there are shaded picnic tables spread out along the beach. You can park and walk to beach (very short walk) or there is also an area you can drive your car on the beach. They also have public restrooms and showers. It was very clean. I look forward to my next visit.

Wasnt crowded, could drive right out on the beach, the clean smell and breeze, standing with your feet in the water! Yes!!! Peaceful, just what we needed!

Mustang Island State Park is a great beach destination and the campground is an affordable option with electric and water hookup for only $22. The bathrooms are used by day trippers along with the campground so they were not the cleanest. No shade except for the picnic table with a partiality covered pergola. The beach itself does not have many shells and gets a lot of trash from the gulf. You can drive on the beach, so that makes it easy to fish, play in the water, and bask in the sun.

I usually fish the bay side. Plenty of pinfish and other action for younger kids and people who are inexperienced just trying to have fun. Plenty of trout, redfish, flounder, and even stingray action for more experienced anglers. Great spot to wade fish if your experienced. If your not experienced, be cautious, lots of soft muddy spots. Bait fish are abundant so if you have a cast net or a bait rig with some fish bites youre set for the day. If your just looking for a spot to relax and wet a line, the Bayside of mustang Island is it. Update* took my cousin to the bay side at fish pass on Saturday 10/03/2020 and he caught a small hammerhead while night fishing. Photos attached.

Closely spaced sites, not well designed for basic rv/ trailers, as every other space puts your front door opening to the neighbors back side, and the back of yours is where your picnic table is. Weather was great. Walking distance to beach, but their Beach was trashy IMO, we drove elsewhere to be on the beach. Dogs could not take 5 steps into grass without getting sticker burs in their paws, and there were many fire ant mounds in the grassy areas between out sites. Restrooms very well maintained. Kinda disappointing compared to other state parks here in Tx

This park is absolutely beautiful. There is a very small $5 fee to enter which is completely worth it as it goes to Renovations for the park. There is an area where turtles hatch throughout the year. And the person to Beach area ratio is very very low compared to other beaches. There Are Places to cook and barbecue and there is also trash cans located throughout the park which are not on some of the other beachfront locations. Completely worth it!

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean beach. RV sites have electric and water only. Each site has a table with a shade structure and grill. Electrical hook ups are 20/30/50 amp. 50 amp did not work at our site, but the 30 served our needs. Only suggestions for them would be to update/replace electrical and possibly resurface the roads/parking areas. Overall nice, quite and convenient to Corpus Christi.

The area where you park your rig is not very pretty, but most people come for the beach access so the lack of beauty isnt a big deal. Odds on the side starting with site#1 have the picnic table on the rv door side, but on the other side have it opposite, so be aware of that if it matters to you. There are covered picnic tables at each site, but the sun set time is pretty brutal if you dont have something to block it. We used the sides for our clam, bungie corded to the structure. The stars are big and bright heat as youd expect in Texas. The beach is vast, clean, good sand for digging and building. Water is clean, no sea weeds or other things that can get your toes. The surf is gentle for kids and there is a big slope so they can go out far and not be out of their depth. The beach has shelters with picnic tables and shade. Wed come back for sure, but maybe when it is a little cooler because even though there is a constant breeze, the sun is HOT. Visited the last weekend in September, 2020

Very nice State Park! The beach was beautiful and not crowded at all. From where I pulled in at I came to a parking lot with port a johns, not the area where you can drive up on the beach. The water was great, nice sized waves. Several picnic areas, but be cautious of all the seagulls - they will probably come and try to steal your food. Really a beautiful place to stay for the day, or even stay over night camping.

We loved visiting this park, it was our first camping trip there. Our stay was 2 nights, a Friday and Saturday which we booked online a few months in advance. We suggest showing up at least by noon, (thats checkout time for the previous nights guest)....and explore the park and set up before dark. If you show up after 5pm you must check in by 9am the next morning (which we did). We stayed at spot 30, it was close enough to the restroom and shower and just far enough from the entrance. We could hear the ocean at night and see the stars and feel the ocean breeze come over the dunes. We tried fishing on the bay side, but it was marshy and the tide was up in the gulf so not good road access, we fished a bit in the surf and from the jetties. It was warm for mid October, but still fun. There are plenty of stores to choose from within a mile and a a half or so for ice and snacks and other necessities (like bait). We would recommend this park, and will visit again. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

We used to camp here every spring break and in the late summer. We loved it. Park rangers are always so friendly, and it feels safe. It sustained a bit of damage from Hurricane Harvey, but theyre rebuilding. The beach strip is definitely thinner, so be careful trying to drive out to the jetty if you dont have 4x4. The other direction, to the right of beach parking lot, looked good to drive on still. New bathroom facilities were almost finished when we went. Love this place!

Normally Im very fond of this beach. I come here every weekend. Its a great place to walk with my dog. Miles of gulf-side tranquility. Since the beginning of the COVID event, people have taken to using the beach as a dumping ground, and the Nueces County section of the beach is a disaster. The section of beach managed by the City of Corpus Christi is in wonderful condition and is being well-maintained. The beaches are more crowded than usual right now. If people would clean up after themselves, and if the county would maintain the waste being left behind by visitors and locals alike, I would happily raise my rating to 4 stars. There is no cover here, so bring shade with you. People grossly underestimate how quickly they can get into danger related to heat injuries when theyre by the water. Finally, if you bring it to the beach, please take it home with you. Except for your tourism dollars. Feel free to leave those with our local business and shop owners. Or on the beach for me.

The Park is great! The staff is super friendly and beyond nice. The proximity to the beach is fantastic. The beach is clean. It was not overcrowded at all. Tons of space to social distance. (Thanks, COVID). The showers and bathrooms were super clean and updated. But yall.... Can we talk about the bugs. When spiders and snakes are the least of your worries, you know its unbearable. Swarms of mosquitoes and those flies that bite and fire ants..... We tried everything in our power to stay away from camp. If you have an RV, you may be relatively safe but I wouldnt recommend tent camping. We had citronella candles, two bugs sprays- natural and then I even broke out the crazy DEET stuff and nothing kept these things away!We will be back but most likely for a day visit unless I convince my husband to buy me an RV!

We have stayed at Mustang Island almost every season of the year, including many a New Years Day. It is best to get reservations early and maybe get a day or two extra, you will enjoy the beach and the hot spots in Corpus. From the Campground you can drive to the beach, or leave the camp ground and drive right up to the waters edge and spend the day. Corpus Christi is about a 30 min. drive from the campground to downtown. Port Aransas is only 15 minutes away and has some great shopping and restaurants.

My biggest complaint is against the visitors who would leave thier trash all over bathrooms & beach...not flushing, used lady products in the showers ( feel so bad for the maintenance person there having to deal with that nastiness, but they did a great job cleaning it all up) The 7 or 8 yr old boy using the outside showers in the nude for my granddaughters to see.
