Beautiful!!! So good to see the waves and it is relaxing. We arrived at 4pm and it was crowded. You can drive your car all the way down and it is great going next to the ocean. Waves are big or small, but their sound was awesome. Water was cold, but if you be there in the afternoon, you can swim in the water. You can collect the sea shells and observe them how to dig themselves in the sand. You can take beautiful pictures and so many dogs are running. Such a beautiful view. You will not regret it. Before you arrive there, you will pass the big bridge and scene is gorgeous.

My wife and visited here because she missed the ocean and we both needed a relaxing getaway. The National Park Service takes great care of this location and all the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Another nice part of our visit was how clean it was everywhere and how other visitors were friendly and respectful of the environment. No littering, all pets running wild, and everyone having a relaxing time. We will definitely be going back!

It is $10 to get through the gate. There is a 60 mile stretch of beach. If you go past Mile marker 10 make sure you have a four-wheel-drive or high clearance vehicle because the sand starts getting very soft And it is easy to get stuck. If you look carefully you can find tons of sand dollars. After Mile marker 10 there are tons of seashells on the beach. The further you go down the clearer the water gets. You can also RV Boondock here but I’m not sure the fee on that. There are restrooms right before you pull into the beach they are your typical campground restrooms and are clean and the also have hand sanitizer hanging on the wall. The water is so beautiful and clear definitely enjoyed being here. Watch where you step because there are tons of jellyfish washed up on the beach.

Drive down the beach in a passenger car stop on the shoreline enjoy the day or camp on the beach for a few days. You have to watch out for soft areas in sand but most generally hard packed.Bring some trash bags and help the environment by taking out some of the single use plastic that has washed up this will make you feel better for all the plastic u have used. Beautiful area not crowded as there is lots of shoreline water only in campground if u dont like beach camping you can stay there as shelters for additional cost availableCold showers are available plus a dump station for your RV

Took our family here for camping and it was absolutely amazing! We drove all the way to the end of the island and setup camp. Very low traffic and we even went exploring. Lots for beautiful ocean and beachs. Had a blast digging through shells and different spots. We will definitely be going back again next year. Big tip, if you plan to spend any amount of time out here bring lots of water for both drinking and cleaning as we did you will definitely need it.

This is my favorite national park! Its a great place to enjoy the beach. It stretches about 70 miles, so its easy to travel far enough from the crowds. Additionally, their sea turtle program is admirable - I love the work they do here! The staff is very kind and knowledgeable. You can tell they take pride in their work. I live in north Dallas and PINS is worth the drive every chance I get.

Had a great time! The further down I drove, the more space I found for semiprivate beach with my family. Remember further also means greater need for 4x4, and recovery aint cheap. Still some debris from the storm, but over time people are take out more than they bring in, cleaning up our seashore and gulf.

A TON of fun. Pay attention to tithe signs though, and when it says to not continue if you dont have a four wheel drive vehicle, then listen. The sand gets pretty loose but very manageable as long as youve got 4wd and good tires.

A very nice National Park on a stretch of untouched barrier island.... I spend allot of time fishing and relaxing on the 60mi stretch of beach south of the visitor center, I do reccomend 4or capabilities as the beach is always changing and can be unforgiving to those who dont understand it or do the proper research before accessing it.... they have malaquite beach which is a stretch of beach with no vehicle access which is nice when you dont want cars flying by, it also has a camp and RV area... Bird Island Basin on the ICW side is a nice area to hangout, camp, fish, and has a boat ramp.... they also do turtle hatchling releases during the summer.... We see Deer, Coyotes, Turtles, many seabirds, lots of fish, sharks, dolphins, and jellyfish.... beautiful shells wash up on occasion.... overall its just a nice place to enjoy the outdoors in a coastal and barrier island environment...

Being from california we have a thing. Kind of like a chip on our shoulders. We believe we have the best beaches in the country. That no matter what attractions you put there, the west coast will have the title. Well thats until we moved to texas. Good ol Padre Island. Not crowded at all. Everyone pretty much follows the social distancing and were in their own bubble. And the cool part is you can just drive your suv truck or car right up to the beach and park. Not like California where you have to pay to park EVERYWHERE. beautiful place the water is nice and warm. But please watch out for the stingy sneaky jellyfish. They are every where. And watch out for the sting rays. But besides that I absolutely love this place. Well worth the 2 hour drive from S.A.

My complements to the administrators at Padre National Park during these uncertain times. When other parks are doing the easy decision and closing gates, Padre Island NS looked for ways to open up.The cool thing about PA is the expanse of beach open to those equipped to take advantage of the beach ride and enjoy some remote beach isolation. You will need 4x4 and drive 10 miles down. The only reason not a 5 is the unfortunate items the Gulf Stream brings to the beach.

The beach is long! We drove about 15 miles in and there were still a ton of cars driving up and down the beach. Many people fishing. We camped on the beach and it was windy on the first day, then rainy!I wish we had known that the wind was a saving grace, because on our last night we got chased out by a swarm of flying ants that covered the car, the tents, our bodies, and they were biting like crazy.I wish we had been better prepared to sit out the bugs.Tons of trash.
