I have known the owner Carl for several years. He has always wanted to own a fish store for several years. Whenever I go inside the place is always neat and well kept. If you are need of something and he currently doesnt have it in stock he will do what he can to order it for you. Carl also offers tank cleaning services. If you are wanting fish in the Iowa City area this is the place to go.

This place is wonderful! The layout of the store is simple and great and the art on the wall is really cool from a local artist. The owner is really informative, really nice, and knows his stuff. If you buy some stuff and have kids with you, they get a chocolate gold coin which is exciting for the little ones. Its always great to support local small businesses over the big guys too.

I’m very impressed with this place! They have an excellent selection of fish! The guy I talked to was extremely helpful in answering all my questions, and was very patient and thorough with his information! I will definitely be going back there! Impressive fish and impressive customer service!

Great little store! They dont have a huge selection of dry goods but had everything I needed. The fish looked great and the staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They also take special orders for fish! I was really impressed overall, for sure will be going back! They also stand behind their fish better than any local shop I have seen (3days) and they do a text service which allows you to go back at your own convenience.

The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the fish they carried. It was evident that they really care about the fish they have for sale. The place was very clean from top to bottom, the tanks were filled with sparkling clean water, and the fish inside were happy and lively. My friend and I went in not knowing exactly what we wanted and left with a few cute little zebra danios and all of the extra supplies we didnt even know we needed. I would 100% come here again any time I am in need of fish supplies! This place was WAY better than any commercial fish store!

I LOVE this store!!! Finally a store that has snail free java moss!!!! YES!!! Tanks were VERY well lit so you can actually SEE the fish you were purchasing. Owner was VERY knowledgeable AND personable. ZERO dead fish in his tanks. All the fish appeared happy and healthy.

This is a great place to buy fish. I’ve never seen someone so passionate about aquatic life as the owner. I purchased cherry shrimp, and they are thriving in their new home! And you won’t find beta bowls here.

Carl is truly amazing. The amount of knowledge and time he was willing to spend helping me get the exact setup I wanted is worth 6 stars! Amazing store, great selection of fish and all look very healthy. Great service there too. Even the Betas are in the larger tanks and not in small cups. 10/10.

Amazing, Perfection, Educational.. Our daughter wanted a Betta Fish. After lots of negotiation and extra chores she decided on one from a big box store. Sadly the fish only lasted a few weeks. Heart broken we came to Treasure Cove hoping for a better outcome. The Owner was so kind and helpful. He assured our 11 yr old that she did everything right taking care of the first fish and that sometimes things like that just happen. He encouraged her to try again with another fish when she felt comfortable doing so. We have had Marshmallow the Upside Down Catfish for a few weeks now and couldnt be happier. We have been back several times just to look and ask questions. Every time the owner takes his time to explain things and obviously really loves his job and educating people about fish.

What a great addition to the Coralville strip. Owner was not only knowledgeable but passionate about his store. You could clearly tell he loved his job and wanted to help people with all aquatic needs big or small. He helped us with our sons small Betta and told our son how to take care of him which was nice that he is so great with customers of all ages. Prices were average and customers service was amazing. No pressure to buy more than what was needed. We will definitely be back.

Excited to report that we had a great first experience at Treasure Cove today. Its great to see a locally owned aquarium supply store open close to Iowa City. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. The shop was clean and inviting and the fish looked very healthy and lively. We purchased frozen food, cichlids and platys and will definitely be back again!

I had a wonderful experience in this store. Very knowlegable about the fish and how to care for them. I had two fish from a large pet chain die a few days after buying them. The fish I bought here are still alive and just as active as when I bought them. I will only come here for my fish. Thank you for being so helpful and going out of your way to order a fish I wanted.

Treasure Cove has a lot of really interesting, uncommon fish. The owner is super knowledgeable and passionate about the hobby, he gave a lot of great advice from tank stocking to cleaning. He was also willing to rehome our common pleco which was too large for our 55 gallon. I would definitely recommend paying this local store a visit and skipping the chain stores!

I bought an upside down catfish from Carl the other day. Not only am I very happy with my purchase, but the whole experience was great! He was very knowledgeable and gave me tips and tricks for my tank, and offered suggestions for when I decide to expand and upgrade my tank.

I am so excited about this store! I usually do not write these but after being a now addicted customer there for my 180 gallon I felt I really needed to.It is clean, the fish look great(& healthy) and the prices are wonderful! Knowing the owner personally, Carl has done a great job working on the store and getting it the way a fish store needs to be. The fish are in clean tanks, are very healthy, and his store is in prime location for business. My daughters now have a cool tank in their room with some great fish all thanks to the help of Carl.
