We had the best time at Average Joes! The staff was incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. I have never shot an arrow, but my boyfriend has a little experience. Either way, both of us had so much fun. Cant wait to come back!

These guys are great! The training my son is getting is excellent and helping him build his confidence. I will continue to send my son here and recommend them to anyone who’s interested in learning about archery.

My Uncle and I came for a lesson and we accidentally. Looked it two weeks out thinking it was today. They made time for us today anyway and within minutes Joe was finding ways to make us better. The advice was so valuable. We will be back!

Great place to try your hand at archery. We were totally new to the activity/sport but they guys here were friendly and helpful. I even ended up buying groupon coupons for my brother and friends. We went there earlier in the day during the week and the place was empty. Their fridge wasn’t working which meant no cold drinks on a hot summer day. But the guy at the desk was nice enough to grab a few cold cans from the back. Also the taxidermy was great!

Took my 12 year old son there for my birthday on this past Sunday . He was a little apprehensive...but the staff was great! We had some tutorial, then we shot for two hours! He never quit, both of us started shooting good groupings and all inside the target with plenty bulls eyes. He now wants to keep it up and gear up for a fall bow hunt. Thanks for offering the introductory package! And being so customer friendly.

Went there for the first time and had a BLAST!!!!!! Deb helped us and she did a great job explaining how to hold and shoot and just really making sure that we were comfortable using the bow. She guided us through our first shot and was there to follow up and give us tips. Super friendly staff and will definitely be going back. :)

Went today with two kids, first time archers.The staff was AMAZING. Very patient and welcoming, kept working with us until we got it right. I cannot praise them enough.

Bought a two hour experience which included virtual reality. Was our first time the instructor was really nice, informational, showed us exactly what we needed to do before letting us go on our own. Will definitely be back, loved the virtual reality and the overall experience.

Came here for a womens church event and we had a great time! They gave great instruction and helped us out when needed or wanted. It was a great experience and a fun time. We all want to go back again!

The team at Average Joes is on point! They do their best to help out new archers, archers returning to the field, and veteran archers with the same attitude of open kindness.In 2013, I walked in as a complete greenhorn, said I want to start archery, buy my own bow, etc. Lets go! and everyone was so helpful. I never felt like I was treated like a noOb or just a girl trying to do a hunting sport. Even regulars at the range would help me out when they would see I was getting frustrated with my shooting.I will praise Joes until Im blue in the face. They are wonderful! We had a blast! I am not sure what our plan is in the future, but I think we will be back. Thank you for such a great intro to archery class. Anyone thinking about it should take it. Even if you end up disliking archery, the history and learning about the bows alone is worth going for.

Had to have bow setup that was setup incorrectly elsewhere. The staff was super helpful and friendly. Did a great job setting the bow up correctly. Cannot say enough about the great service!

My 8 year old son and I went and it was his first time really shooting his new bow. The instructor took the time to figure out he is left eye dominant and show us how the environment worked. When the bow that he brought had too heavy of a draw, she helped him find one that he could use for the experience. We had a great time and will be back.

This was an awesome date night experience. Very cool with less experienced shooters and more experienced shooters too. The staff and owner were kind and gave us pointers. The customers gave us a great atmosphere too. Its a fun community, and it would be awesome to do this more regularly!

We had a ton of fun! My fiance is a bow hunter so very familiar with the sport while I on the other hand didnt even know how to hold the thing. We both enjoyed it and had a blast. We loved the Techno Hunt!

I would give this place a zero if there was an option. I went to check this place out as they offered a 40 yard indoor range was super excited but ended up disappointed at best, Ill never go back. I read there rules and signed the waiver, However was immediately barked at when I shot a few arrows and then stepped off the line to make a few adjustments on my new bow. Also apparently when I reached for an arrow while I was on the line,, I broke another rule and was pulled aside to be scolded.. I get being safe, Ive been hunting and shoot tournaments for awhile (years) but these people are not friendly in the least. Its a nice facility though

Weve had a number of great experiences learning the sport of archery here. My youngest daughter was having some difficulties when first starting. My oldest daughter laughed at something she had done. Before I could say anything, the attendant said to the oldest, dont do that, we respect everyone here and were all learning. I commend her for saying that and for ensuring a safe and respectful environment for any and all skill levels. Others have criticized their customer service, I appreciate it! I will continue to go there because of the staff! Keep up the great work!

Three guys without any archery experience or equipment . We were just looking for a couple hours to get a quick lesson and spend some time shooting. The training was succinct and to the point. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the price was very reasonable. Wed do it again in a heartbeat!

My son loved his experience there so much that I had to go buy him his own bow and arrows later in the year. Not that they pushed sales.... they did not. My nephew was selling his and I cant think of a better activity to keep my son busy, so I purchased it. Unfortunately we live quite a distance away from average Joes so we havent been back. We could use a second location , in the St Paul area!!!!

Every time we’re there, is has been a great experience for us. They love to help out; plus they are professional and are just nice people to talk with. The last time we were there, we actually bought a new bow for my son, they worked with my son making sure the bow fit him like a glove.

I am more than impressed with the staff and facility at Average Joes. I went in there Sunday and purchased a new bow. Bill did an outstanding job of setting it up for me on Sunday. On Tuesday I went back there and Joe was so helpful in fine tuning it for me and in no time I was hitting a 7 inch circle at 20 yards every shot! They are extremely knowledgeable and are more than willing to help EVERYONE out. They are really a classy business. Thanks Bill and Joe!

Their Intro to Archery class was great, we did some learning about basics and had plenty of range time with simple bows. The facility is nice - up to 37 yards on the range, 3D targets, TechnoHunt, and staff on hand to help out with gear and to provide lessons. Range time is affordable, and its easy to schedule that time. A new favorite spot for me!

I purchased a Groupon for a last minute date night and didnt really know what to expect. The place itself is nothing special, but it gets the job done! We did the 2 hour archery shooting and the virtual reality hunting experience. Joe was awesome!! He made us feel welcomed and was funny and witty while doing our tutorial. I believe the other gentleman working was named Bob and he was great as well. Id definitely recommend the virtual hunting experience :)

My 9 year old daughter and I had a great time learning to shoot. Our instructor Kennedy was great, she made my daughter feel comfortable and with a little practice we were both hitting the target. We will be back.

My husband and I took the intro to Archery class even though we have both shot a bow before. The difference now is, I know what eye dominant I am and was given the correct bow. The staff are very knowledgeable and are spot on with making adjustments so that you are set up for success. We will both got back for the intermediate class and then hopefully progress a little further from there. Very reasonable cost, and the staff are all very nice, helpful and experienced.

My kids and I took beginning archery there, my daughter is in the Combo league, and I have visited there to shoot a couple times. Every time there was a great experience. The staff is friendly and accommodating, they give helpful advice to help your technique to improve accuracy, and they have a lot of knowledge to answer every question we had as beginners getting into archery.The facility has many lanes and the Techno hunt is really fun.I would highly recommend Average Joe’s for anyone who is interested in archery.

We had my daughters 9th birthday party there and it was great! No-rush, relax atmosphere with plenty of time for lots of shooting, gift opening and eating pizza. The instruction was excellent! all the equipment was provided. Also all the kids had fun with the balloon-busting game. I highly recommend this for parents looking for an educational, unique birthday party experience!

Great experience. This was my first time shooting a bow and the guys there were great. They were extremely helpful and good natured. I was especially impressed with the way they taught the young kids that came in shortly after us.

This place is top tier.I just got my first bow xmas 2016, I quickly brought it to Archery Country in Rogers to have it set up. I was in and out of there in 20 minutes, and not very confident to go shoot by myself. There were lessons and leagues, but I was hesitant to go back.I found Average Joes here on google, and was very impressed by their website. Its easy to navigate and theres a ton of information. In particular the online reservations for just about anything is spectacular.I went to visit in person on a Wednesday afternoon in February thinking it would be desolate, but business was steady and people were on the range. The staff member that helped me out was Joe (go figure), and he was very very helpful. He checked over my bow, corrected a number of things and asked all kinds of questions that I hadnt been asked at Archery Country.Joe quickly had my bow in fine working order and WOW! What a difference it made. I practiced at the range for an hour or so with occasional help from Joe or the other staff, making minor adjustments along the way.I left feeling much more confident in my shooting, and my equipment.Ill be back to Average Joes again and again, you just dont find places like this anymore. Keep up the amazing work and take a well deserved break!

Great place for your first time or for a date. Theres a package deal online on their webpage that includes the bow and arrows or you could bring your own. Joes a great teacher. You do have to make a reservation to shoot some arrows. They dont really do walk-ins. I highly recommend this place. I plan on going again soon.

I have enrolled and introduce d my two girls into archery at Joes, it has been a great experience to spend time with them where they are not looking at their cell phones constantly and we have time together, I you are looking for ways to come to your kids this is great way to do so, Joe and his staff makes is easy to learn

Great place. Ive come here a few times now and think theyre pretty good. The first time I got a lesson here the guy that was supposed to teach me, but he got sick and left or something. So another guy helped me, but also had to man the register too. He was good, but I didnt really get the full hour I had paid for. The second time I brought in an older bow, that I hadnt bought from there, and they helped me adjust it for free since it was a simple fix. This year I bought a new bow, the people were very helpful and thorough in setting up my new to fit me perfectly.

The staff were amazing and very helpful. They took the time to help my daughter set up her bow and learn the basics of how to shoot. She had a great time and talks constantly about going back. I definitely recommend this place to both beginners and advanced archers as these guys really know their stuff but are also really relatable.

Seeing familiar faces, having family events, intermingling events for beginners/more advanced archers, the always welcome atmosphere and no hard sells is what brings me back and will keep bringing me back. The staff at averages Joes are amazing. They took my daughter right in showed her how to shoot. Set up her bow (when you buy one of theres) got her in a league and are teaching her to have fun. Great way to get your kids started on shooting. I am more then happy here.

We had such an amazing experience at Average Joes Archery today. I called at 10:00 am and they fit us in the same day for a private lesson at 2:30 pm. Joes is a great place to shoot. Not a glitzy shop, but they know their stuff, but arent pushy or know it all , unlike some shops. They are knowledgeable and helpful.The video range is pretty cool.They have helped me tighten my groups a great deal, and you cant ask for more than that!

This place is unwelcoming and deceitful. Told me no one in the city could fix my bow this week only them on a week wait. Was rude and called another place and got it fixed the same day with them very welcoming and was 100$ cheaper

Purchased a bow from Average Joes yesterday. Bill did a great job on the tuning and set up, he spent ample time with me from start to finish to get it right and I was drilling bullseyes consistently before I left. I am new to the area and have gone to most of the other archery shops around the area in the past few weeks looking at bows during my intense researching phase of this purchase and I found Average Joes to be a very unique store with distinct differences from the others. First of all they do not have a huge selection of bows, I am fortunate that the bow I had decided on after thorough research is one that they do carry and their pricing was better as they had availability of exactly what I was looking for, which was a specific finish that others were wanting a premium for or did not have in stock. Their arrow pricing appears to be better than others as well. This shop specializes in teaching/training/birthday parties/ new sales/ equipment mx and the whole archery experience introductions which makes them very personable and unique. You will not find this at the other shops. I am going to expose the rest of the family to archery through this route as well, I watched them work with multiple zero experience customers during the day as well as highly experienced archers and I was very impressed at how much fun complete beginners were having including young kids, teenage friends, couples on a date etc. while maintaining a safe environment. It was really cool to watch. They made everyone feel very comfortable even when it had gotten very busy in the afternoon. They also are the only shop I have seen that has a range that goes out from 10, 20, 30 and 40 yards which makes them unique for experienced shooters as well. I do firmly believe they have something to offer for anyone from complete beginners to experienced shooters and in between like myself.

I wanted to spend $1,000 on a bow, but I couldnt really get anybody to help me. I still had a good time shooting for the first time.

Good place, people are nice, but they are not gentle on calling out people. I stepped inside of line forget that had to wait for clear sign. One guy screamed at me said wait for the signal. I understand it was not personal and safety is very important, but embarrassing me front of people was too much. Even though he did not mean to do it. It was my first time and I was so embarrassed. Not going back. I dont spend my money to get embarrassed. Also, bit of drive.

The Into to Archery class was awesome! I came in knowing nothing, but learned so much! The staff were kind, helpful, and never condescending. I enjoyed the experience so much that I ended up buying my own bow! Its so worth it.

Went here with my boyfriend and it was a GREAT TIME! The staff was super friendly, and apologetic when we had to wait about 5 extra minutes so some disabled people could finish up. Not a problem. :) we accidentally went over time, and they didnt mind and were actually really nice about it! 10/10, would recommend!

My son took an archery class. The class was well organized, but it was two hours long. He tended to lose interest after about an hour. He claims he enjoyed it, but because he spent more time goofing off and whining to go home during the second half of each class, I wonder if it was worth it. Maybe an option with shorter classes might be good in the future? I would gladly come every week if it means hes participating the entire time.

We went to Average Joes for an anniversary activity. It was a blast. We got a coupon on Groupon and were able to do the virtual hunt as well as the regular 1 hour target shooting. The Average Joes and Janes are the best. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and very helpful with patient instruction and coaching. Their ranges are set up for beginners and advanced archers, and there is a designated range for kids. I don’t get there often as it’s some distance from me but I’m always assured that when I go, I will feel welcome.

If you want to be yelled and screamed at in a barbaric manner this is the place for you, however if you are a person of color beware! The customer service is horrible to say the least. My husband and I went for date night and the first time it was okay; this is because we were only dealing with the manager and not the not so diversity tolerant staff if you know what I mean. We enjoyed our time because it was something new and even though the staff were not the most welcoming and friendly, my husband wanted to take my brother.He called and made an appointment at which point the staff told him, in an extremely rude and degrading manner, he had already cancelled his reservation. Mind you this was the first time he was calling to make a reservation. Even after this clear display of poor organization and lack of ability to complete simple tasks, my husband continued to politely request to make a reservation.My brother and husband get there and get situated. They start getting set and the staff member berates them for a simple mistake they made. Mind you my husband is not a native English speaker and like anyone in that situation, does not follow when someone is yelling in an ignorant and savage manner. They corrected their mistake and continued. My husband was not clear on the instructions, probably because they were being yelled and screamed at, and made another mistake.At this point the staff member snatched the bow, that had no arrow on it, and began screaming and yelling at my brother and husband again. Seeing as this was the third time the staff member had been extremely rude, aggressive and disrespectful my brother stepped up and had to yell over the staff member to tell him that his behavior was not acceptable and his intolerance would have to stop. At this point the staff member decided to threaten to call the cops. My brother, knowing they had done absolutely nothing wrong told him to call the cops. My brother and husband stepped out until the cops came and told them the entire story. At this point the staff member lied to the police and told them that my husband was aiming a loaded weapon at the staff member. First, the bow was not loaded and second the bow was not aimed at the staff member.When I called to file a complaint with the manager, he sided with his staff member. Long story short I would not recommend you go to this facility, they are disrespectful to their customers and do not do well with any splash of color. AGAIN IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD TIME AND DO NOT LIKE BEING YELLED AT OR DEGRADED DO NOT GO HERE!

Greetings Archers,I wanted to give credit where credit is due. I just spent an hour at Average Joes Archery Shop in Coon Rapids this morning. FYI, I am neophyte when it comes to archery, and needed to get a new crossbow sighted in properly prior to traveling out of state to experience a white tail deer outfitters hunt.Gabe (who is employed by Average Joes) was behind the service desk repairing another customers compound bow when I showed up. He got me immediately set up properly in the shooting arena, utilizing their longest shooting isle (37 yards). Gabe, patiently helped me calibrate my scope on the crossbow so it was shooting three bolts exactly in the middle of my crossbow block target! It was a great experience.Hopefully, I will be texting Gabe pictures of the 170-190 wall hanger buck I stick next week!These guys are the real deal, professional, smart and patient. I have been here three times already with very diverse groups of friends each time and the staff has been excellent every time. They are friendly and easy going. Other than their new website registration, which it seems they are still figuring out, I have zero complaints. I will keep bringing friends here if I want them to try archery.

My granddaughter, Ruby, and I were very pleased with the Intro to Archery Class at Average Joe’s Archery in Coon Rapids. Joe provides a lot of detail about archery, including information about different types of equipment that would benefit newcomers who want to get the gear to become archery regulars. We were surprised and delighted at the amount of range time, along with Joe’s helpful instruction. Ruby had taken the Archery Experience at Average Joe’s, and wanted to follow up with the Intro class. We’re glad we did, and will follow-up with more.

As we stepped in the building I didnt feel welcomed at all, not greeted by anyone in site. It was our 1st time there so we were pretty excited about the experience we thought we were going to get but unsure where to check in, as we walked up to this counter the guy was so unfriendly. Said what do you need. I was like we have an appointment for the Archery Experience at noon... Hes like you are going to have to wait, because we are really busy. I was shocked. Another guy proceeded to say an appointment for 2, I said no 3 We brought our son, the guy was like how old is he i said 5 he said oh no he cant participate because 5 year old kids are weak and cant draw the bow back and then they get frustrated and cry. I was livid at this point because nowhere on the youth release form does it state that a 5 years old cant participate it specifically says that ANY child under 18 that wishes to participate in any program or activity must complete the following child program release form. So at this point Im like i would like a refund for all 3 of us, Bill walks us over to the other counter asks me to write down my information apparently he doesnt know how to refund me since i paid for it online, the owner will be in tomorrow and he can refund you. Just a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT and inconvenience to get there and be told Nope, when there was nothing stating a 5 years old cant participate. Needless to say we will never be going back to that place again.

My kids really wanted to try archery, so we came here to give them a chance. The staff was really helpful in explaining how to shoot, and the safety protocol for ensuring no one is shooting while youre retrieving arrows (its simple). We were total n00bs, and missed the target like half the time, but we didnt feel out of place at all. If youre curious about archery, this is a good place to give it a try.

Had a great time shooting there while in town for work. Very knowledgeable and hepful with all aspects to archery. $5/hr for a lane is dirt cheap!
