Awesome experience today- will definitely be back! - range officers were looking out for my son and really wanted to make sure he was having fun

This is the first outdoor shooting range I’ve been to and I really like it. The staff is awesome and very helpful. Prices are $7/per person, $7/per gun. This is cheaper than the indoor range I was going to. Definitely a cool place to go and shoot, recommend if you’ve never been before.

This is a great place for a nice, relaxing time with your rifle(s). Their range layout is one of the best since you can stay in one place and sight in at 25 yards and go all the way to 200 yards. The Range Masters are good people, please support them by always following the safety rules. If I have one complaint is that some people disregard safety rules when at this range. You put yourself and others in real danger when you do this so please be smart.

LOVED IT!! one of the best outdoor ranges ive been to. Went there with some family from out of state who never shot before so I had to play mini saftey officer and was a little nervous but the Range officer was super professional amd patient with us and the front desk was amazing and helped welcome us. I wilm absolutely visit again.

Love this place. 2nd time I’ve been now. Skeet range last time but today we did the sporting clays. Great safe layout of the trail and stations with a good mix of shots. All equipment/launchers worked perfectly. Also shot at the rifle range this time. Safe and strict range officers... exactly what I like to see. All friendly staff at the front office. I’m looking forward to going again.

The employees were most helpful and knowledgeable. They were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure our needs were met. I would definitely recommend Blackwood if youre looking to purchase a firearm or accessories. I know they also have an indoor range.

Awesome staff, good prices, always room at the range. They even helped fish a jam out of my pistol when it got jammed up a few years ago, free of charge. These people are the best. Give them some business. You wont regret it.

Stood around for 5min at the counter listening to a conversation two employees were having without being helped or acknowledged. Went to Creekwood instead, much better service.

I went with my 8 year, we had a great time!! The range is great for families. The instructor John Nottleman is very knowledgeable, helpful and professional. We will be back again for sure.

Range Safety Officer was on edge. He made aggressive, threatening and out of line comments to normal rule following guest. He made the atmosphere feel unsafe and tense.

I love the course of Blackwood. The course gives you many different types of birds that might be thrown in a competition. They allow you to rent golf carts or bring your own golf cart to ride the course and enjoy your experience at their facility. The facility also includes a nice rifle and pistol range. The staff is incredibly helpful and polite. I personally give them a 5 Star rating!

This range has a home town feel. With home town customer service. The range is diverse and clean. People are polite. Has been my go to range for years.

First time with sporting clays - Awesome experience! Great change of pace from standard trap/skeet. Folks at Blackwood were patient and took their time explaining the course. Very friendly and laid back experience. Looking forward to going again soon!

Good place to shoot. Wide range of services. Nice people that make you feel comfortable. Facilities may not be as polished as some like, but I like it a lot!

Hands down best range I have been to. RSOs are always friendly and safe. The rifle range is clean and the sand bags are good. Sporting clays course is awesome as well.

Good place but only one thing I do not like when you use many bullets the guy that picks up the bullets from the ground starts to cry

Great range and great staff, my only complaint/ suggestion would be to have benches that arent connected especially for the 200 yard. Feels like youre shooting during an earthquake when its busy.

Went for the first time on sunday. Am a new shooter. Loved that they helped me with technique, very patient with a new shooter. They even let me fix my rifle in their lounge. This will be a new regular spot.

No frills outdoor gun range. Lou was very nice and helpful at the range the last two times I went and my son loved it there. I have been to the skeet course twice as well and it was a great time with my friends. Reasonably priced if you want to shoot without the snobby attitudes of the other ranges around.

Blackwood is my favorite range in the area. Their pricing is fair and their facilities are great. Their staff is very friendly and helpful as well. One of my favorite aspects of this range are the lanes. It is outdoor, of course, and the range terrain dips down and back up, so you can set targets at 25, 50, 100, and 200 yards from a single lane and clearly see all 4 targets. I love being able to shoot multiple guns at different distances from just one lane without having to change targets in between. Strongly recommend this range.

Son and I went there last Saturday to prepare for our first 3-gun match there on Sunday. Range was in good shape. I like their pricing...Very fair. I also liked how you can basically stay in a single stall and shoot ALL the distances you would need to shoot...From 15 yards out to 100 yards. Especially liked the fact that they have portable frames that you can move closer or farther out...we used these for close in pistol and for our shotgun work.The range marshal was a very nice younger gentleman who helped us get settled in and answered all our questions. Nice guy.We shot in the 3-gun the next day and had a blast! First 3-gun for both of us and EVERYONE was extremely helpful, especially the 3-gun staff led by Steve. Very good courses for us beginners and well thought out. Safety was always a concern. We will continue to go back!

Great range with nice staff. Actually one staff member helped spot an error in my pistol shooting technique. Wear boots you can get muddy if it has been raining lately.

Nice place to shoot... Range prices have gone up considerably.. since the last time I was there.. new owners... Formerly Gun Emporium... However they have renovated and are in an on going expansion process.. so theyre putting that increased pricing into providing more facilities and better service.. They have several 5 stand sporting clays fields.. which is one of the most addicting sports on the planet. Not sure if they are having leagues.

Absolutely the most enjoyable experience at a shooting range yet. I have been there before under the previous management and always enjoyed myself. This time went above and beyond. Everybody was awesome. The gentleman behind the counter checking us in was so pleasant and then the GM gave us the red carpet treatment. Mike… We will be back. This is the best range to come and have fun everyone is wonderful feels like a home away from home They hold many events this was where I began to get in the sport of sporting clays and since have always been back to learn more from many of their top shooters definitely it is the place to be

Great place to shoot. Reasonably priced, friendly service and the Range Safety Officer (RSO) was fantastic. Not only did he do a great job of ensuring we all shot safely but he offered VERY helpful tips and added a very much appreciated bit of expert advice to my sighting in process.

1st visit to the Blackwood Gun Club was a very enjoyable experience. Nice shooting lanes and very friendly, helpful staff. Cant wait to get back over there and do more shooting.

All gun range I go to. The staff is really knowledgeable and always willing to help. The Range Officers are great as well. I go there as much as possible to shoot as often as I can.

Staff was very helpful and range was professional. They were very strict about hot and cold range which made me feel safe. Range boss also took time out to help my stepson with proper technique.

Went for the first time today, it is everything we needed to zero in a new scope. The range officer runs a tight ship here, nothing slides, which is a good thing. I felt safe and got the job done. SIDE NOTE: Be sure to wear boots if it has been raining. Like most outdoor ranges, there are areas around the targets that are a little swampy.

Really fun to go out and shoot. We came for a charity event and it was well run and organized. The shooting stations are setup nice and theres golf carts to take you around.

Ive been shooting out at Gun Emporium for years. Sometimes there is a waiting period when the range is full, but I guess it is to be expected during hunting season. The range officers are very safety conscious, and create a safe shooting environment. The staff are very knowledgeable in firearms and treat everyone with respect. I can appreciate a place where if they dont have an answer, they work quickly to find one. Im always greeted at the door, and I like the fact that I feel they are there to help and your not just another sale. This is a great place to bring family, friends, and new shooters. They offer ladies classes, CHLs, Hunters Safety, and other great stuff!!!!!!!

Good place to shoot with a 200 yard rifle range. The range is not per hour and Ive spend 3 hours there testing my reloads. The trap area looks nice. The rumor is the new owner owner is putting money in the place i.e. new 500 yd range.

I had never been there with the previous ownership but I can tell you with the new ownership that its definitely the best range in the greater Conroe area. Friendliest staff and range officers. The only range I go to.

Great setting- you feel like you are hunting when doing Sporting Clays. Mike is a master at hosting events. Other Sporting Clays venues seem boring (west side of Houston - you know the one). If you are on the north side of town go to Blackwood.

There are lots of shooting lanes and its outdoor. The close range shooting is a little irritating since the ground slants down after the shooting station & its difficult to practice standing shooting techniques as you are pointing your firearm down at an angle. I understand they are trying to ensure all the bullets impact the ground, but the angle is just way to obtuse. I was there on 4/18/2014 & experienced a range officer with little regard to range safety & more interested in being a social butterfly

Awesome place now that there is an academy there. The instructors are patient and very knowledgeable. I wont shoot any other place , well except for at home. Lol

Friendly and Polite..My Sons and I shoot here a couple times a month. We have always had a good experiance, We also enjoy the skeet range next door. Shooting range a little pricey because they charge per gun and per shooter..

With a new name comes new ownership. It has been a long time sense I have been here and thing look even better now. The sporting clays course runs through a hard wood bottom land. The trees tower over you and the palmettos cover the forest floor. The clays fly between the trees and palmettos and their shadows. After a week of heavy rains the bottom land was holding water but the gravel road was mostly dry with just a little mud. There were 12 stations and they are all automatic so I was able to shoot alone. The course had 3 elevated platforms to shoot off of and with one station with 2 rabbits. That was a fun one. I enjoyed myself very much and look forward to another visit.

Great customer service! I found the staff to be polite, well informed and helpful. I called and requested a specific type gun that NO OTHER GUN STORE AROUND COULD LOCATE FOR ME. The Gun Emporium had it in stock and I went immediately to pick it up. I always recommend them!

Very helpful staff, great prices if you need additional ammo AND my son was able to shoot his .22 here. Overall great father-son day out.

Quick sign-in and a very strict rangemaster. Basically all you want from a gun club. They have arms, both used and new, for sale inside as well as ammo and targets.

Best service and nicest staff I have personally ever encountered.

First off its a nice gun range, really clean and kept. But two things I disliked about this place is how expensive it is. $14 for one person and one gun! Secondly this place is really strict. All of the rules are there for a reason but its kinda outrageous. I had the range officer grab my rifle and told me that my rifle needs to be pointed down range at all times. My action was open and unloaded barrel facing up to mount my scope on! Come on !

I liked the way the range was setup with targets every 50 yds. The movable pistol targets were also nice. I was not a fan of the benches were setup. It is difficult to shoot standing up. this range is geared towards bench rest shooters in that respect. The gun shop had a decent selection and decent prices. The folks inside also seemed polite and knowledgable.

Great shop came in today to ask about a gun my dad left me I had went to shooter station and they were very stuffy and unhelpful so I came here guy behind the counter was very helpful and kind I will come to their range and shop anytime I need to shoot or buy guns

Range safety guy is incredibly rude and hateful, the benches are uncomfortable and aukward and the range is falling apart, god help you if one of the already shot up fence posts collapses while you are shooting. There are plenty of good ranges in this area to waste your time with this one. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

I asked the gunsmith about work on my AR-15 and he said he dont work on them. What i wanted done would apply to any gun not just a AR-15. When i mentioned this to the counter man he said they were junk and only good for stomping into the ground. I have owned this gun over 20 years with no problems. It will shoot under 2 inches at 100 yards and has only had a couple if ammo related failures out of the thousands of rounds i have fired thru it. What kind of gunsmith would not work on an AR as popular as they are?

Ill never go there again because the range safety guy is an as-hole. First, he through a fit when I told him that I needed to move over to a different station to shoot the 50yrd to zero in my scope. I had started out at the 100 thinking that I was already on paper. There was hardly anyone there at the time. Second, he ended up checking my water canteen because he claimed that he smelled someone drinking alcohol on the range. I certainly didnt smell what he was smelling and it seemed to me as more harassment at the time. Unbelievable!

Yes, its true the range attendants arent the most personable, but they are there for one reason-to keep your ass from getting hurt. If you read, understand, and follow the rules you wont have a problem. Believe me, Ive seen some folks that needed the stern talking to that they received.Dropped a star due to the high cost for multiple guns and muddy walk out to the 200yds target. Btw- no gun cases on the range, it saves space and they want to see the actions open. Its common for folks to pull out their loaded home defense shooter and point it all over while getting it from the case. The rules are there for the lowest common denominator, and if you are offended by those rules, you arent the expert you think you are.

Got charged for the range, went outside to find no spots available. Two people were ahead of me. Needles to say,after an hour wait we had to get our Money back. Not sure why outside doesnt communicate with the inside. When we got our money back they were still selling range spots on a full range! There was one guy working in there that was a jerk. Never going back to this place

I was not impressed the last time I stopped by. The gun selection has really went downhill and the guy working behind the counter was very short and almost rude when I was asking questions. He just refereed me to Academy and went back to his magazine. I have bought a couple handguns there in the past but I think Im through with them all together.

Gunsmith customer service is horrible. Never again will I use this guy. Doesnt have a clue when any part will be in - really?
