Of the 10 years I lived in Concord, I never had a reason to go here. After moving to Salisbury, it took some of my co-workers to want to go. Not EVEN wanting to skate, I enjoyed watching my co-workers enjoy themselves. I have think we ALL had a GREAT time.

Only been here once. Its so hot in there, but it was nice for the kids. Well definitely come back but not when my hair is straightened. Lol

3 stars, because my 10 year old enjoyed herself. The only ones who wore mask were the staff at the concession stand. Everyone skating with no mask & people standing around with no mask. When I asked about the skate helper to help smaller children skate? I was given the run around. The lady came out, looked at my son & said: Oh hell be fine, he doesnt need one. I said maam? This his first time skating. He does need one, then they charge an extra $5.00 for the skate helper which I was willing to pay. So whats the big deal? Then I seen 9, 10 & 11 year olds using it, but they really didnt wanna give my son one . Might be back, might not be. I dont deal with Favortisim at all.... I wont use the other word

So glad you guys are back in business! Kids had a lot of fun on your (re)opening night. I think it could have gone smoother though... referring to the long line we waited in to pay. Please make some changes to that! Only 3 hrs to skate, didnt get thru and start skating until 630, and we were there 20 mins before you open!

Great place for the whole family!! Tuesday nights they have $1 skating if you have your own skates and $4 if you need skates.

This is a great place to skate. Fun for the whole family. The staff is wonderful and really work to make your experience even better. They go over and above to make sure the kids have fun and remember the little ones. Very professional and they continue to make improvements to keep the place nice. Nice floor and has plenty of room. Lots of games for kids. Following social distancing with mask and very clean. The guards allow really good skaters to skate while watching for rule breaks to protect them from themselves. Great rink and I highly recommend it!!! Best rink anywhere around.

Love this roller skating rink! Typical old school roller rink with some food and game section. All skates Ive rented have been in decent condition. Staff are friendly. Love they have a walker to rent for littler kids learning to skate. Prices are reasonable too! Would recommend

This place has been here FOREVER. It should be a historical landmark at this point. Although its old, it still serves its purpose well. They added many new rental skates which is nice. Its dark most of the time, so u can overlook the blemishes. Its a great place to go and spend an evening or afternoon for the kiddos.

My kids really like coming here. It looks like nothing has been painted, updated or cleaned in a very long time. Bathrooms are really dirty. I hope they take this time to paint and clean.

Ok so I’m a 12 year old but me and my friends get dropped off all the time sometimes bad service but most of the time great and everything is pretty nice. The prices are fair and food is decent but kinda what you’d would expect for a roller skating place that’s not really supposed to be known for food. It’s great for people of all ages and would recommend to anyone

Nice place for my daughter to go skating with her friends. Fairly clean. Reasonably priced concessions. The only negative I could possibly give is that the bathrooms need some modernization. Other than that, I would say its a great place to go.

Very nice roller rink. Very nostalgic feel. Was the first time skating for my daughter and everyone was very courteous to her on the rink.

I do not understand how Fryes is able to check that fire code occupancy is not exceeded because nobody seems to be counting heads at the door. Collecting money? Yes. Upholding the safety of visitors by counting heads to stay within regulations? Doesnt appear so.While the floor was in better condition than some other rinks, the whole place was dingy and needed a deep clean. Bathrooms were not clean and I wouldnt eat food served here because of sanitation concerns.Go on less busy days, skip the dollar nights if you actually want to skate or youre a beginner. I enjoyed my time there but wouldnt go back on a dollar night due to the volume of people.Wish lockers were an option for storing items that I dont want to take onto the rink but also need to have with me for medical purposes.I felt like the music was too loud, so I used earplugs to feel more comfortable.Kates on Independence Blvd (Indian Trail) is definitely a better experience IMO.

I love this place the first time I went there was a party my friend fell but we didn’t know what we were doing I would highly recommend Frye’s roller rink

Nice size rink and loved the Christmas matinee special today! Good working staff, nice skate floor( a lil dirty). Would definitely go back. Was nice just for a middle of the day outing with my kids

I have been going here since I was a toddler. i can say that the entire staff team isnt racist. but i can say some of them speak their minds, although its rude its not really racist and you cannot judge your entire experience on your first time there. the workers that i grew up with and even now are extremely hard workers and you might think not because your entitled to your own opinion. but personally i could say this place has been nice to me over the past and has given me friends but has given me a life full of fun..!

I grew up going here on weekends to skate with my sisters and my friends. Now I take my boys and my nieces here on weekends. They provide a safe environment so I feel okay leaving my nieces to enjoy themselves while I run errands or go back home. This is a great family oriented place and is also affordable

Busy Friday night, concession folks earned every penny that night. Staff kept the rink safe. Observed them even separating a teen couple who couldve gotten a little frisky with one another otherwise. Made me as a mom smile to see they paid that much attention both on and off the rink. Its a staple for locals and visitors in the area.

My kids have been going here for years and love it. The fries are great.

Very crowded. Definitely a teenage heaven on the weekend. We had a private party there and they rushed us through the event. TheStaff very courteous and polite through it all.

I took my 2 little granddaughters here a few weeks back; they had a BLAST! We really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was very tasty. Everyone on the skate floor watched out and carefully skated around my babies! We had a wonderful experience and will definitely go back! Not a lot of people out on the ring like safety checking and making sure everybody was OK and everybody kept on falling down and only one person came out and the kid got really injured so I would not suggest coming there unless it was for a party but it was fun go if you can skate

Very much enjoy going here with my friends, the staff is extremely friendly and makes the experience even better. The guy who hands out skates always pulls my exact size right when he sees me walking up. This place could use a deep cleaning though but other than that it’s a great place to go.

We were at a birthday party & our hostess was great and accommodating. The children had a great time but I think there needs to be rules on the rink. Maybe No fast skating with small children on the rink. No drinks on the rink. Beginners skate only, fast skaters only etc. I just saw so many including my grandbabes get knocked down. Like I said, they had fun but there needs to be house rules to keep everyone safe.

Overall great and fun experience... but the lady at the front desk is extremely rude and also this one worker named Mandy is extremely grody. The guy that skates the floor (Jacob) is really chill and cool. There’s is one worker there named Amity she is the best and should get a raise.

$200 for birthday party. Two kids have celiacs (no gluten). Not only did they not have gluten free food offerings, they wouldn’t allow us to bring in gluten free pizza. They did offer paper plates so two eight year olds could eat gluten free pizza in parking lot while other kids were in party room.

Place is Nasty. As much money as that place makes in a week. At least they could spend a few dollars on remodeling the place. The Bathrooms or SUPER NASTY. HAVE BEEN THAT WAY EVERY TIME I GO. AT OPENING OR CLOSING. NASTY NASTY NASY. Come on Owners doint you care anything about your coustmers or community !

I brought my daughter to a birthday party here today. Weve never been before today and well never return. The only reasons I didnt rate this place one star is because the actual skating area was pretty cool and the prices were reasonable.It was, however, overcrowded. Extremely overcrowded. The parking lot was too small to accommodate proper parking. The arcade was tiny and a good majority of the machines were either out of order or out of tickets. Getting staff to help fix the machines was like pulling teeth. The party hostess was rude and condescending. Just an icky experience. Coming here to just skate would be worth it. If you choose to do your party here, I hope you have a way better experience. Just didnt do it for me.

Fun as always, I tried the cheeseburger and it was surprisingly better than I expected.

After taking my family there, we will not be returning. The woman at the ticket window is downright disrespectful. We have sent our son there for Winecoff Elementary skate night before, but never again. The place needs to be shut down if the staff do not want to work with the public. Hearing the woman state that my Hispanic mixed daughter looked like a Mexican immigrant child made me extremely furious, especially since her racism is very poor. My daughter is Dominican. Maybe she should take the KKK hood off for a bit and get over herself. They are extremely racist there and I am a WHITE woman. After seeing all of the other reviews I see it is 100% true. We right then and there asked for our money back and left. The establishment is dirty and smells. It is overcrowded and the staff is downright horrible to people. Go somewhere else as this place needs to be torn down and the owners put out on the street. Horrible people.

My kids always enjoy attending school events here. Food is pretty good, but the arcade is outdated.

This place is run down. The rentals are sticky and wet inside and look like they have not been cleaned in months (see pics). Bathrooms are nasty, not updated since the place was built. No hand soap or paper towels to dry hands. Music on a family night- very questionable! There are plenty of songs to play without playing hard core, nasty worded rap music. No one supervising the skating rink- kids acting like fools and no one monitoring them. Debris on the floor with no one out there to pick it up.I sent an email to management to address my concerns with no response.Its a shame because I grew up skating and would love to continue to take my family but I think we will drive the extra few miles to another rink!

Nostalgic Style Roller Rink. My six-year-old loved it. The rolling training Walkers are great for kids learning how to skate. Well definitely be back.

My granddaughters birthday party was held there. They put on a nice party. Kids had a great time!! They got cake, drinks, ice cream,and got to skate. Had a wonderful time!!

The kids love it, the parking lot needs maintenance and the food is average. The games that are played could be updated. The regulars seems to be bored with them, the arcade games could be updated as well.At times they do not work, the staff is okay I have never had a poor experience with any of them.

Frye’s Roller Rink should be ashamed of themselves for capitalizing off of individuals who have no skating capability.We went there with our 9 year old and 3 year old twins and we paid the fee to get in and rent skates. Well of course our 3 year olds need assistance with skating, so we went over to get them a pair of rolling bars for them to hold on to while they skate. After he put the wrist bands on my sons he looked at me and said $10. I thought this man was joking with me! Nope $5 per bar! He apologized and pointed at the sign and said “I’m sorry you didn’t know but they are $5 each”. He was apologetic, but this is WRONG nonetheless. This is like going to a Bowling Alley and they charge you for using their gutter guards and a bowling ramp, just pure nonsense! Clearly this is a plight to get money anyway they can, those bars should be included in the fee you pay to get in this place!What happened to the passion to just get kids out and skating!? What happens if you have an individual come in with a disability!? I will never patronize this business ever again.

The place is nice I love to go skating there. The staff can be rude depends on the staff that are there that day. The bathrooms are kinda nasty. The staff can be racist because there was a fight between white people and black people and the black got banned from the skating rink and the black people didnt even do anything which made me mad. The food there is good. Some of the staff is nice. I go a least twice every month maybe even more than that. I would definitely keep going back.

A fun, old school style, roller rink. My daughter has loved going here from when she was in kindergarten to now, as a teen. They have both roller blade and quad rentals to suit your taste.

Permitting people to take phones on the floor is just as dangerous as driving distracted!....Most wireless headsets have a range 50 to 100 yrds a locking cage like the lockers would be worth the investment. Also enforcing the direction of traffic and no standing on the floor might be helpful. Other than tripping on a dropped phone Ive still had a great time.

Great family fun. The staff is attentive to safety of the skaters while keeping the fun going. They are always polite. We go at least 3 times a month and never have a bad experience.

Very cool rink we just found out about from friends who go every month. Their homeschool skate is a great price. I was in love with the retro decor, and my son had a blast in the arcade. We will definitely be back!

Nice place

I havent had this much fun since I went to a similar roller rink called four wheeling in Connecticut back in the 80s. Apparently I was told this place has been in continuous operation for over 50 years it was really nice to see people of all ages enjoying skating and in addition to the four wheeled or quad skates they also had people with roller blades and they give lessons and have lots of activities it was the highlight of my trip.

The place is a little run down, but it is absolutely a very fun place for persons all ages. Will definitely come back and bring family members along with us.

Great place. Which they would switch directions there. Its the only roller rink I have ever been to that doesnt switch directions while skating.

Worst experience at a skating rink. Lady at the front door was rude, the gentleman handing out the kids skate helpers was beyond rude and allowing the older kids to skate with cell phones in their hands as well as headphones on is definitely not safe.It is absolutely sad that when the only ones working there that were polite is the young teenagers handing out the skates.

It gets a little crowded but thats probably because theres so many good deals here for skating!

Very rude staff - The DJ played music they wanted to hear - not what the kids requested. The music they played was not edited and not suitable for Elementary aged kids. It was skate night for the school so it should have been age appropriate.

The two young men that worked there were abnormally pleasant. Like really good kids... The older lader working there is miserable and not hiding it. Interactions with her alone were enough to dampen the fun I had with my wife and kids.

I go here every saturday,I love it the fries are 100% the best no wonder its called fryes.Also lots of the workers are nice like the lady at the lobby remembered me with my vnla skates and my cousin she always wears a white cap and we are recognized.my favorite worker there is Coby he is the BEST he is funny and nice.Also the floor is perfect not to big were it takes to long to go around the ring and not to small when its to fast especially the turning.Also I love the mini games there fun and if you want to take a break from skating then you can play the games when they come out my personal favorite is limbo and flamingo.And the pricing is good 7$ for Saturday since I have my own skates I dont have to pay the 3$ extra,but on Tuesday its 1$ yes good pricing but its very crowded.And you have to be careful or youll fall.And I actually want to have my party at Fryes with VIP. so I rate this 5 star

So let me start this review by saying at the end of the day my daughter and her friends had a great time at her birthday party! Thats the goal for any childs birthday. Now, though Id seen previous reviews regarding issues of customer service, attitudes, and racism I still give people and establishments the benefit of the doubt. I did not experience an issue with the lady at the front window. In fact she was great. Now I will say that there was a general lack of customer service. I placed out pink tablecloths on 2 tables near the snack area so that the parents could locate us prior to the start of the party. That way they could leave coats or have a general place to chill until our party room time started. One of the young ladies asked me about this and I advised her I was aware my party was not there and asked if I should remove them from the tables if it was an issue. She said no and moved on. But we were asked 2 more times about this which was annoying but I can understand that others may misconstrue what we were doing. Which again, is why I said it wouldnt be a problem to remove them. When we were called to the party room it had a general set up. There wasnt a host/hostess unfortunately to assist with the party at all. (This wouldve helped with overall customer service.) So everything was done on our own. The only time we saw anyone was when we were reminded twice of time limits on the room. The young lady brought in a gift bag for the Birthday girl that was in a zip lock bag . (Again, customer service.) Now over all it was pretty clean including the bathrooms and snack area. We were there early so I didnt see that based on previous reviews. Once I got home I did go through the gift bag and saw that theyd placed two monkey tattoos in the bag for my daughter. This could be taken two ways. Subtle racism or general lack of consideration. If your business previously been accused of racism, I would be mindful to NOT place anything that could be deemed racists in gift bags at all. Thats just a tip from a professional. Though I live 15 minutes from the rink I wont return and in fact will make the 30 minute drive to Kates going forward. It was ok. But for what we paid they couldve roller skated on my back patio and had a house party with better results. .

I agree with many 1 star reviews on here. This place is trashy, dirty, the attendants are rude, its small, needs a good cleaning and renovation..not just of the facility but most of the workers are FAR from Southern Hospitality. I wish there was another roller skating rink. This one is always way too crowded, not just with people, but a rude, rushing attitude. Cant wait until a NEW and improved skating rink is built in a classier, clean area and shows this area how rink is supposed to roll! Do not take your kids here unless you want to leave stressed.

Went for a skate night for my sons school. This place is awesome . Has everything you need, all staff is friendly and the songs were great for young kids! Thanks Frys for keeping it rollin!

Ticket attendant is extremely rude. We walked up to the ticket counter and she was very sour and acted as though we were inconveniencing her by being there. My son had been there 3 days prior with his summer camp class and since he didn’t know how to skate, he used one of the skate mates that day. When I asked the ticket attendant about getting one for him she huffed and said, well you know there’s a height limit. I said ok but he was just here a few days ago and they gave him one. She told us to go through and wait, “over there.” Her instructions were very vague. We went through the door and waited several minutes for her to show up. I finally had to go back through and ask if she was going to help us. She rolled her eyes and came through a door and told my son she had to measure him for the skate mate. (Apparently your fingers have to be within the red line for them to rent you one.) Well my sons fingers were barely in the red. She said, no he couldn’t have one because his fingers had to be in the center of the red line. I told her once again that he had been there the other day and they let him use one. Her answer was, “well I wasn’t here.” My son was very upset and cried because he’s a new skater and felt more confident using a skate mate. This lady was a real witch and I promise we will NEVER do business there again and we will make sure everyone we know doesn’t do business there either. I’m only sorry I didn’t get the woman’s name.

Nice place to hang out with your kids

Place is pretty nasty. Pee all over bathroom floor.. With no sink in bathrooms, bet your bottom dollar no kid washes their hands at the sink outside of the restrooms, unless their parents are there to guide them. Nobody in sight to clean up. Carpet is very dirty throughout, feels like you are walking on chewing gum. It is a good place for kids to have fun. Its just dirty

Very different experience than what Im used to! The kids loved it! No over pricing like everyone else. 10 thumbs up!!!

The facility is not well maintained. When you look at the photos of their glory days you see a building that was cared for. One that excites the owners and made them want to create an inviting environment. It’s dirty, messy, and just thrown together. The food is fairly awful and skip the Kuerig Coffee. One employee smelled so badly like Marijuana that my coffee was stoned. The tables don’t look like they have been wiped down since 2010. Now to the roller skating. There was no control. I was told to slow down, lol. But the kids and novice and beginner skaters weren’t told to stick to the outside. I had to slalom around them like they were dancing turkeys. Kids were cutting across the rink. Skating the wrong direction and there just wasn’t any control. Made the experience not so fun.

I could give this facility a ZERO star, I would.. they actually had the nerve to ban my children from their facility due to the fact that I was late picking them up.. there was miscommunication between my son (15 years old) and myself. Therefore, due to the fact that the staff (the extremely rude ticket attendant) had to wait on me to arrive, the manager told the off duty Police officer my children are banned.. My son and his friends were literally tossed outside during a major rain thunderstorm.. When I arrived at the facility to pick up my child and his friends... I was greeted by a police officer. Who also agreed that Frye;s staff was being unreasonable, but its to the managers discretion to ban individuals. Well its not an issue.. Fryes is one of the dirtiest, unprofessional, obtains the rudest staff possible. We will not need to worry about being banished from the property... we will not be returning anyway!

Always have a good time when I come with my kids. They need to update some stuff since it has been the same since I was coming over 20 years ago.

Great Place for family fun. Our family had a ball roller skating with regular skates and inline. Great price includes a drink,chips and a hot dog!

Place hasn’t changed since 88. Terrible customer service. They shut the games off on my daughters birthday party even though we booked it. They don’t invest any of the money you spend there back on their business, the carpet is the same from pictures from bday parties back in the 90s. The employees shirts are so old and gross and stained up, the roller skates I used had ZERO padding, so I returned them for a new pair with the exact same thing inside those. Do not throw your money away at this place.
