The docent during our visit was wonderful. Full of information and and really kept us entertained. Very beautiful inside. He shared a fascinating story behind the marble and some of the archways, so be sure to ask about those.

The building and architecture are amazing. Small museum but interesting. No admission charged today in honor of the bicentennial.

The building itself is absolutely gorgeous and boasts a traditional architecture that makes it standout. I was was, however, to see the lack of exhibits since moving to this newer location. I was able to explore everything in under 30 minutes. I miss the vast amount of information and history that was held at the old location. I also miss being able to climb up the fire tower and lookout over the city.

In the Bedor room you will find an outstanding collection of works by the White Mountain school of artists.

Though there seem to be many people who are in satisfied with the NH historical society, my experiences there have been overwhelmingly positive. The staff have assisted me on many hunts through the archives for old forgotten maps of towns in their infancy. The historical collections are interesting as well, making it a worthwhile trip for a New Hampshire history buff.

Came here with my kids school field trip. Hands on activity, short guided tour, friendly staff. Will bring the family back.

My experience at the NH Historical Society Library was less than satisfactory. The staff is accusatory and treats their patrons as if they are better than them. The staff enforces the library rules in a demeaning way. I have been reprimanded several times for minor infractures such as using a pen in my own personal notebook and having other personal posessions inside the reading room. The library asks a lot of its patrons but gives little back in return. If you can avoid this particular library, do so. There are many other libraries in the area that could provide you with a more helpful and scholastic experience.
