This rec center is great! It has a gymnastics area, lifting center, basketball court with a track above it, pool with a neat slide that goes outside then back in and quite a bit more, including daycare! This has the feel of an elite rec center with a very reasonable cost. Definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a place for a little bit of everything. (The drinking fountain water here is actually good!)

This recreation center is very complete. They have plenty of parking, the technology room has a lot of outlets, chairs, desks and its own small kitchen. Plenty of space for recreation. Gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, fitness equipment and dressing rooms with showers, rooms for big events and more. They keep it very clean and offer many programs.

Living in Henderson, this is the only close gym/rec-center around here. Ever since the establishment started, me and my friends have enjoyed the services Bison Ridge Recreation Center provides. I use their gym more than three times a week and it has done well for me. Yes they do not have all the equipment a weight lifter dreams of, but I have found it to be enough if you can find workarounds. I would like to highlight on the fact that their outside gym area is closed most of the time, and think that it couldve been used for better things. The indoor gym would benefit with a bit more area. The pool is also a little small, I have swam around and I will say it is inadequate for anyone over 15 years of age. That is probably why I only see little kids using it. In contrast, the basketball court is honorable. It is big enough for a lot of kids to fit and the balls they provide are also of high quality. The prices are a little expensive even for the people who live in Commerce-city but I think it is alright with all the services you get. I have always found the place clean and the staff has usually been friendly. The place does not look like it took 44 million to build but it isnt ghetto either.

Pretty doesnt equal functional especially for a family. They have plenty of space. They could have expanded out the pool area even more . Instead they have an extremely small pool area. Except for the lap pool at 5ft, all the other pools are only 3ft 6 deep. You cant have your kids do anything other than play basketball while you work out which is larger than the pool area combined. Saving money and drive to the Brighton Rec Center or do a drive and go to Apex in Jefferson County to actually see what a Rec Center should look like.

Overall, a really solid rec center. It has virtually everything you may expect from a high-quality rec center—and it even has childcare, which is a HUGE deal for my wife and me. We use the upstairs workout area quite regularly.I would ask the management one thing: would you please consider getting some Olympic style weightlifting barbells? The knurling on the Powerlifting bars are super-aggressive, and are not suitable for the more dynamic lifts. Thanks!

If your are a gym goer AVOID, you will get staff infection. I was very surprised about this place after reading the reviews. I decided to try out the place after the new year, thinking it would save me time after work. NOPE, 5-8 employees and not a single one doing anything productive. The Gym is very nice and very mismanaged, they have already spent money to have benches redone. Seriously if things were clean the benches wouldnt crack in a year. This is why our taxes are so high out here a very nice building miss managed. My wife tried to get our kids into some classes, IMPOSSIBLE unless youre a stay at home parent that can be on a computer when the clock strikes 10 on a Tuesday morning. Seriously its like buying concert tickets. She was on at 10:02 and the classes were all full. I called up there they told me they had an opening on a Wed at 11:30. Seriously have they ever heard of this thing called school??? What a waste of a very expensive place. Back to Vasa I shall go.

Unbelievably busy most days, there are certain times of the week its not so bad though. Monday is not one of them. Definitely a disadvantage that its not a wet gym, sauna/hot tub would be nice. The staff is great, people that cant read or know track etiquette not so great. Not much, if anything, is done about track abuse or misuse....but, the seniors who are walking all 3 lanes and talking will be sure an tell you youre going the wrong way (when they are) or give you dirty looks for trying to run by them. If youre a resident its very affordable and its a very nice facility regardless of the number of people using it.

As with every New Year, there is a Resolution rush. Bison Ridge has enough equipment & space to accommodate the rush and then some. There is always a buzz of activity, whether it is in the gymnastics area, media center or pool; which is a good thing. Id recommend checking it out. If traveling Highway 2, set your car to cruise control at 45 mph as the police seem to hand out tickets like candy at a Willy Wonka factory!

The track and pool are all Ive tried. The family restrooms are great. Some recreation centers dont offer enough family rooms and I like that I can use my own lock.Staff is friendly and its clean. The pool is okay. There were less than 30 people in the pool which was great. Most parents seem to watch from the pool deck. The deepest I noticed the pool depth was 5 feet. My son was just shy of required height for slide. He has swam in the Atlantic and does well, so not being able to go in a slide with about 6 inches of water was disappointing. There are little sprayers and a lazy river (no tubes) so it is enough to keep young kids busy. We stayed an hour. This pool is not meant for teens. We have a pass so definitely will come back. If I had to spend money I probably would go somewhere else because there isnt enough to do after an hour. When the weather is nice I prefer outdoor pools.

The staff are nice. The gym is great and has good equipment. The gymnastics room looks great and so do the basketball courts. However, the pool area is a huge disappointment along with the hours they have. No early workout on weekends they open at 8 and nothing early enough during the week to actually get to work downtown for me or my husband. (5 am or 4:30 am would be amazing but nope neither of us can use the gym before work. Occasionally Ive been able to get some in but not my husband at all.Ive lived here for 11 years and thought when this was finally down the street my kids who are teens could have a place to hang out with their friends, finally. Nope not at all. The pool is made for toddler and little kids. Only. No sauna,no hot tub, no steam room no adult amenities in the pool area. The lazy river is a joke and there is no diving board because the pool is less then waist deep for everyone. And best part no wave pool. Ive been to all the other Rec Centers around the neighborhood in the surrounding cities and there are some pretty great ones which we sadly will still have to drive to for my kids to dive and play in their wave pool. Wow am I unimpressed. There is nothing really out here and now we taxpayers paid and this is what we got. 100% disappointing.

At first glance, an extremely beautiful facility with a lot to offer. However, for someone that likes to swim and bring his kids to pool, it’s beyond a disappointment. The design of the pool is simply atrocious. The kiddie area couldn’t be more basic, the lazy river is over policed, and the lanes are often hijacked by swimming lessons even when lap swim is posted on the schedule. It seems some bureaucrat thought they had all the room of Eagle Ridge and felt they could generate the same amount of instruction based revenue (or more). Now, when the rare request to go to this pool comes from the kids, I have to make sure that “Adult River Walking” time isn’t on the schedule for two hours before we go. Yes, you read that correctly, “Adult River Walking.” Oh, and despite the pool being indoors, one must evacuate the pool when lighting is detected within a 100 mile radius. Ok, maybe 50.A mediocre pool has been reduced to complete uselessness by poor management and ridiculous pool schedules. At this point, just kill your schedule. You could partly salvage the poorly designed effort by at least giving the people the freedom to use it.The rest of the facility is decent, and very aesthetically pleasing.

The gym and the courts are nice but the pool needs some MAJOR WORK!!! I’m not one to ever leave a negative review but the lack of consistency over the past year has me somewhat puzzled and irritated. If you’re going to hire teenagers as lifeguards then make sure they are confident young adults who know how to swim and follow rules themselves. Their attitudes should be checked at the door as well. This isn’t your local pizza shop. The rules change every time we’re there and more importantly my 3 yr old daughter was drowning during swim lessons last spring. I had to jump in with all my clothes on to grab her. Not a single lifeguard jumped in to help or assist. This happened during swim lessons people!! Be very aware of what you’re getting yourself and your children into when swimming at the Bison Ridge Pool.

My family and I were so excited for the new Rec Center. Its in a great location and appeared to have all the qualities of a fantastic rec center. Than it opened. We visited within a week of opening and am beyond disappointed. The gym (basketball courts) look nice and spacious and the gymnastics area is huge. The pool on the other hand is a complete joke. My 7 and 9 year old (who are addicted to swimming) were bored after 10 minutes. The 3.5 ft lazy river is the only place to swim and you get scolded if you stop or try to swim against the current. Again, the ONLY place to swim (unless you want to do laps) is the lazy river at 3.5 feet. Commerce City wasnt limited to space but decided to build a massive conference space (which Im guessing will go unused the majority of the time) and made the pool completely unusable. I hate to say it, but the people who designed (and approved) the new center swung and missed. I only hope they evaluate the feedback from the residents of Commerce City and make it right. Sad to pay $5k in property taxes just to be forced to leave to dine out and now leave to find a functional swimming pool.

2 times now my husband and I have gone for open swim and it was closed. I understand that accidents happen during swim lessons and they need to close for safety, BUT there should be a sign posted at the entrance, or the desk person should inform patrons so they don’t pay and walk in the pool to be told that they are closed for the next hour (which would be closing time).

Being a resident of the area is already becoming better and better in addition it helps with the cost of the annual pass, I recommend it. A very nice building and it is being kept nice a clean by the regulars. Good job all. This rec center is geared towards gymnastics and basketball both having great spacious areas. The gym upstairs is also suited with very nice equipment. Also has a very professional care for kids while you enjoy your activities. Bison Ridge also has a plethora of group events happening all week and at all hours. Visit to see the full list. The pool however is a bit small. However with the additional DJ slide with colors and a sweet lazy river, it makes up for it. Hopefully we get some upgrades in the future. Good job all.

This is an excellent rec center, with special emphasis on basketball and gymnastics. I have found that there is plenty of fitness equipment, and now that the new factor is worn off, I havent had to wait to use any of it. The pool is small and basic. My toddler loves the zero depth pool, and the rest of it is sufficient for swimming lessons. It looks like Commerce City designed this to be a complement to the other rec center we have - one will have the large pool and active adult center, the other will have the gymnastics facilities and child watch. My older daughter loves child watch. Its a smaller space, but the staff is great.

A beautiful facility RUINED by a lack of gym etiquette and its enforcement. While the facility itself is beautiful and full of great equipment, a growing number of patrons ignore even basic gym etiquette and slowly ruin the facility for the rest of the public.Often while trying to work out you will find gym goers using 2, 3 or even 4 machines at the same time for extend periods that exceed an hour or more. They refuse to allow other patrons to use the equipment and treat the facility as their own personal gym without regard for anyone else.To make matters worse the staff seems to have no desire to enforce a time limit, basic etiquette or keep patrons accountable in any form. In fact you will often find staff trainers perpetuating the situation by ignoring etiquette themselves. While I understand the use of circuits for training, the use of multiple or even a single piece of equipment for extreme time periods is ridiculous. When complained to, the staff claims they will address the issue but never actually do. One gentleman with dark blonde hair can almost entirely be found on the bench/squat rack combo for periods exceeding 1-2 hours, while another gentlemen uses upwards of 3 to 4 pieces of equipment for extend periods of time. Neither gentlemen, even when confronted, has any regard for other patrons and both have been the center of complaints to staff members. Sadly this is a daily occurrence that staff show no desire to address.Staff members at face value appear to be willing to help but in the end they chose not to confront the individuals or enforce any rules. Therefore leaving every other paying patron to be marginalized by their disregard for rule enforcement. So if you are looking for a gym where the staff cares and even the most basic etiquette is enforced, look else where... If you want a gym that is beautiful and has a staff with zero administrative backbone, this is the perfect place.

Review №88

Where do I start. When the pool is “open” it truly isn’t since they block off half the pool for lap swim/swim lessons. So you’re segregated to the lazy river and slide area which isn’t a lot of space to accommodate people. Especially during the summer months when you want to cool off. Basketball courts are always closed for tournaments. The gym is always packed so you’re having to wait to use equipment. The good afternoon classes are always full so it’s not motivating to workout in a tiny room with a bunch of people. Daycare options aren’t accommodating at all. The pricing is way too high and they aren’t able to take your kids unless they are at least 6 months of age. Forget trying to bounce your body back to pre-birth until after 6 months. Sure it seems like a big facility at first, but once you realize the areas you are confined to, it’s not worth it. Last but not least, let’s comment on customer service. I’m going to call out the front manager Alexis? The three interactions I’ve had with this lady I swear it’s like she’s on a power trip. Had a situation and the way she handled it was just so unprofessional. She’s “by the book” but when asking her to cancel my membership she failed to follow protocol. She picks and chooses when she wants to go by the book I guess. Took me multiple correspondences to get my membership canceled which is ridiculous since only 2 people in the whole facility have the authority to cancel your membership. I thought the reasoning behind this was to rebuttal to prevent cancelling. Nope, it’s not the case, so I’m not sure why they make you jump through hoops to cancel. On the Next Door app, an employee was being so rude when a resident commented on the pool never being open. Not asking to be treated like I’m at a country club but geez, it’s just asking for a little decency. Glad I’m not dumping unnecessary money into this facility anymore. The only reason why I gave this facility two stars is because Heather (the instructor) was always so personable and nice. Hope she reads this and knows we will miss seeing her.

Very nice, new and clean facility with a great pool area for the whole family plus basketball and gymnastics gyms and more!

The pool is smaller than my townhouse, my daughter who has been in swim lessons for over a year at eagle point now has to have her lessons on the steps. Whoever planned and signed off on this design should be put in a stock so we can throw tomatoes at them for their poor decisions. There is more concrete than water, no sauna or steam room and only one area where kids 5 and under can touch. What a waste.

I have to say at first I was impressed at the facility. After using it several times it becomes more disappointing each time I use it. The locker room is a complete joke. The lockers are extremely small, the shower floors are not sloped correctly so you stand in about 2 of water while taking the shower and drying off. 1 hook to hang anything so dont drop it on the floor because it will fall in the 2 deep water. Pool area seems big at first but needs more lap lanes. No hot tub or sauna.Save your money, I bought an annual pass and regret it. I think Ill go back to Brighton.

Kids run around without supervision and goof off in the weight training and cardio area. Weight training and pool are small and get very crowded when its busy. There is an outdoor fitness deck but it isnt open yet and have no idea when its supposed to be open. People in the weight training area dont wipe their machines down when they are done or put their weights back in the correct order so you are left searching for the correct weight you want. Sad to see they wasted money on a large gymnastics area that gets used once a day and not an area that have people in it all day every day.

The gym can get a little busy depending on the time of day. Overall a descent place to work out. The pool area was not thought out well. No place to sit, no sauna, or steam room. I just go back to the Thornton Recreation for these amenities sometimes
