An active place that has a lively presence and from what i remember. There have been some plays where there would be a big turnout. I worked here so i know how it used to be up until the pandemic. Ever since the Coronavirus pandemic all of the extra curricular activities came to a sheering halt.

Love this place. Good spot to exercise or sit and read.

Great gym with very reasonably priced trainers...some of the equipment is not up to date.....still great place to work out....nice pool.

I have been trying to join this place,  I requested information and they never sent it to me, I followed up another 2 times a few weeks later, still no response or information.Updated to 4 stars: Decent place, very clean, kinda sucks they limit entrance to the building to one door when they have so many and also wish their chlorine pool was a salt water one which is better for skin exposure.

Im a member for over 20 years and have consistently been pleased and impressed with their hamisha way and the facilities; especially the olympic sized pool.swimming laps while listening to my underwater mp3 player, jumping into the whirlpool, steam room (very few facilities on long island maintain one........very expensive to do so), the sauna, state of the art locker room and oh yes, the 10th of a mile walking track above the huge basketball courts. the gym is also very well appointed and large with the state of the art equipment and lots of assistance from professional trainers and spotters.i think the people who wrote those negative reviews should manage their expectations and appreciate value and qualityand............aarp supplemental health care plan pays for my membership (and my wifes), as long as we go once a week; and you certainly cant beat free membershipbut it was a bargain at $40 a month prior to my turning 65

Staff very grumpy when kicking you out of gym when it’s time for closing. Some manner could be nice but I guess not. Also closes early compared to other gyms and always complain to staff that these little children are coming into the sauna by themselves and not knowing the dangers. Lockers are also very old and disgusting.

I have been a member here for about a year. I have a special needs child that I use the facilities with. The staff are very helpful. The facilities are very clean and the members for the most part are pleasant. My family enjoys coming here.

Check it out. SYJCC has something for everyone. From 1 to 100 you can be involved in all types of activities. Pool, gymnasium, fitness center, indoor and outdoor recreation and events ...... AND they have a theatre with concerts and plays. Seriously...check it out.

Weve been members for several years and always enjoyed the summer camp experince, the pool & swimming lessons, the winter farmers market. However, my husband & son were there a couple of weeks ago and their locker lock was cut and money stolen out of my husbands wallet. He called the police who came out to take a report. The manager of the facility didnt come out to talk to either my husband or the police. (We havent heard a word from anyone from the Suffolk Y JCC.) From what the police said about their interview with fitness area staff, this has been a problem for some time but the police havent heard a word about it. Im wondering why not?

Ive quit 2 gyms in the last 3 years. I finally found a place that doesnt cater to the 18 yr old set. I should have joined 3 yrs ago. Great place to work out or just hang out. They drove me out of L A Fitness and Retro with the annoying loud bad so called music and staff that doesnt give a damn about anything except there I pods.

The soccer fields outside could use some work

Wonderful facility, great staff, stupendous day care, great programs, and fantastic gym equipment and aquatic center.

The employees are quite rude and unprofessional as they profile against visiors and members. My advice is to find somewhere else to hold your activities.
