The German Village Guest House was great! The house is located on a quiet street with all of German Village in walking distance. I was able to park on the street in front of the house each time we returned from a drive. The house was very clean and fully stocked with supplies. Cookies and milk were waiting for us when we arrived and a light breakfast of fruits, breads and fresh made yogurt was set up in the morning. We had access to a full kitchen (stocked with tea & coffee), dinning room, living room, and a huge courtyard behind the house featuring a fountain and a outdoor fireplace. Our room was nicely decorated and we had a private bathroom with a shower. We were traveling with an infant and they had a pack in play already set up in our room for our son. I would definitely recommend staying here if youre going to be in the area.

We stayed in the 1st floor Whittier suite and our friends stayed on the 2nd floor. We had a wonderful time and found everything we could have needed during our stay. From the great breakfast assortments to snacks and beverage options, the spaces were well appointed. We were within walking distance to many great shopping and restaurant options.

We had a lovely weekend. We arrived to pleasantly cool rooms, an assortment of delicious fruit in a welcome basket and spotless perfectionism reflected in the cleanliness of everything. Well stay here again next time and we hope its sooner rather than later.

Ive stayed at GVGH several times and give it my highest recommendation. They have two locations. On Jaeger Street, its more of the classic B%B experience, with a gorgeous house and back gardens to explore outside your room. For a more private experience, the Whittier location has an upstairs and downstairs unit in a beautiful German brick house. Both locations are near Schiller Park and an easy walk to shopping and dining destinations. The food goodies that are supplied are tasty too! Fresh berries & yogurt, cereals, granolas, juices and more! For out of town CBUS visitors seeking a wonderful B&B experience... you cant go wrong in either location! (Although the Jaeger Street location would probably best in Spring & Summer, when the gardens are in full bloom!

We just spent the weekend at Whittier 1, and we couldn’t have been more pleased. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept on. I just wish I had looked to see the type of mattress! The apartment was clean and the refrigerator was well stocked. There was also a variety of snacks from which to choose. The location was super, and there was only once that we had trouble finding a parking place. Should we ever find ourselves back in Columbus, we would definitely stay with host John again!

The German Village Guest House in Columbus, Ohio has a range of accommodations options, from a modern guesthouse with several lovely bedrooms with baths that share a communal kitchen and lounge areas, as well as private suites that give you the big city feel with absolute privacy. Recently, my significant other and I had the pleasure of staying at the Whittier Suite One with king bed, which was essentially our very own apartment, furnished with class and with just about every amenity one might expect. The living room, featured at the top, was artsy and modern, complete with a great leather couch and desk, which made it the perfect setup for as I was traveling on business. The kitchen was a bit small, but considering the old houses in German Village, it was more than expected. The innkeepers maintain a collection of fruits and snacks, and fresh yogurt for their guests of the Whittier Suite One, which was an absolute treat. The bedroom was spacious, and simple, yet we found it to be very relaxing. Most of the city sounds were kept outside while we slept and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom complimented the suite nicely, with its spacious shower area, fitted with a fantastic overhead shower.Overall, we loved our stay, finding it very comfortable, private, quiet, and almost like home. The German Village Guest House suites may be one of the finest, off-the-beaten path places to stay in Columbus. Its close to all of the good stuff, yet without a lot of the headaches.

This overnight stay was well worth it. The location is wonderful, coupled with a beautiful interior makes this a must. The complimentary food alone allows for a wonderful wake-up call. All-in-all, I would highly recommend this location for anyone looking to stay overnight in the Columbus area.

This place was so perfect. I dont know what else to say. They think of everything and provide such a stress free experience. It is like being at home without any of the responsibilities. If I had to say anything negative it would be that there isnt anywhere in the garden to sit when it rains. We just sat out there anyway because it was impossible to resist but a small covered area would have been a nice addition. Oh and they left us a lovely gift of champagne and chocolate to honor our anniversary. Like I said- they think of everything!

We stayed in one of the Whittier Suites this past week and it was absolutely wonderful. The location is amazing and the room itself was beautiful, clean, comfortable and well appointed. Dozens of restaurants, bars and shops within a 5 minute walk as well as Schiller park - which was a great place to explore with our dog who was traveling with us. John prepared the room for our dog in advance and not only had a fresh pitcher of iced tea and cookies waiting for us when we arrived, but also a bowl of water and some treats for Willoughby. It was so thoughtful! The kitchen was stocked with even more snacks and the home made yogurt and fresh berries and fruit made the perfect breakfast for our in the morning. Everything about our stay was excellent and we plan to make this our regular stop when in Columbus in the future.

This was our fourth time staying at German Village Guest House and it did not disappoint. For two road-wearied travelers there is no better place to stay. The hosts of German Village Guest House are invisible but their thoughtful hospitality permeates the space. It is such a great gift to let yourself into a space (door is locked via keypad) that is completely private, with no social obligations, but to have had your every need thought of in advance. Whittier Suite 2 is chic, clean and decorated as a home would be; nothing feels corporate or sterile in an ambiance sense. Nor is the furniture or decor cheaply made. It feels as though the person who decorated Whittier Suite 2 cut no corners, as though they were decorating a space that was their own. Everything in this place is the real deal. Even the lamp switches are substantial compared to your average lamp. When you first arrive, a pitcher of cold-brewed black tea, a plate of homemade cookies, and a lemon and paring knife (for tea) await you on the kitchen counter. The whole place is impeccably cleaned, and the table is set and ready for your next meal. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need for breakfast. On the counter, a cake plate is adorned with freshly baked pound cake, and sandwich bread for toast. There is an assortment of snacks (biscotti, nuts, granola bars and trail mix) and spreads (jelly, nutella, peanut butter) in a basket on the counter. The refrigerator comes stocked with organic low fat milk and almond milk, butter, half and half, house made yogurt (!!!!), fresh berries and fruit, hardboiled eggs, bottled waters and juices. You must enjoy a bowl of their homemade granola topped with fresh fruit and homemade yogurt. It is perfection. In the living room, the couch is modern and extremely comfortable, there is also a beautifully crafted wooden chair that is actually comfortable to sit in, and an overstuffed chair by the window. A sleek desk with a classy lamp is the perfect place to do work or write letters. High speed wifi makes computer work and streaming simple. There is a large, flat screen television, a selection of DVDs and books, and plenty of literature on Columbus and the German Village neighborhood specifically. A beautiful, potted magnolia stretches out in the corner of the room. The space feels as lovely, inviting and as comfortable as you would want your own living room to feel. We enjoyed two incredibly sound and comfortable nights of sleep in the bedroom, which is simple but classic, with another overstuffed chair in the corner, a luggage rack, and fresh flowers on the bedside table. There is also another (smaller) flat screened television in the bedroom on the dresser but we did not use it. The bathroom is spacious and luxurious, with floor to ceiling natural tile, which smells wonderful when it interacts with the moisture in the air from a hot shower. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided in the shower. All of the fixtures are modern and clean, and bright white, fluffy towels and robes are provided. The shower also has a spacious, spa-like tub should you want to take a bath. There is a raised deck outside with table, chairs and an ashtray. Had the weather been nicer, it would have been the perfect place to spend the afternoon. Ample street parking is available, and we never had any problems securing a spot on the block. Enjoy walks through the quaint German Village and all of the adorable eateries and bars that the area has to offer. Our second day there, a staff person came by to do any straightening we wanted and to drop off more fresh items for breakfast the following day. We declined having our bed re-made but did not object to the offering of fresh pound cake and fruit. She was very friendly, but didn’t waste any time. Never have we stayed in a place run so professionally, yet with so many personal “extra mile” touches to make you feel right at home. The German Village Guest House is one of our favorite places to stay in all of the USA!
