I just received my third tattoo from Cary at Memento, and I am continually impressed by his quality of work, designs, and willingness to work with someones ideas while bringing very cool and signature touches and ideas to each piece. He has a very recognizable signature style and multiple times at bars I have asked people if Cary did a tattoo of theirs, and each time it was one of his.The shop is extremely clean and decorated all over with pieces from the artists who work their. It has always been very welcoming to me and it seems very laid back and fun, with people cracking jokes and in good spirits. The pricing seems very fair for the size and quality of pieces I have received. I would recommend this shop to anyone i know, and will continue to go there to have work done.

I had a tattoo done by Caleb Ledley. When we made the appointment, he gave me his email to send images of what I wanted. He was so quick to respond and even sent me a picture of his drawing of the tattoo before the appointment to make sure I liked it. On the day of the appointment, everything was extremely, I mean almost surgically, sterile and clean. Caleb changed his gloves every time he did something different, no matter what it was. He gave me several breaks from the tattoo, making me feel very comfortable, and the end result was totally worth all the time and, yes, pain. I am extremely happy with my tattoo and my experience and plan to go back for my next tattoo. I highly recommend this place and recommend Caleb as your tattoo artist. His customer service and tattoo quality was excellent overall.

Cary has done amazing work on my husband and I . The shop is clean , professional and has a chill vibe to it ! With the world being a crazy place right now , they have added extra precautions and strict regulations to ensure the safety of their employees and clients which increases my respect for them ! I wish I could give this place a hundred stars. We came in as walks ins and we already went to another place and they quoted our tattoos to be the minimum of 150. We were baffled. So we decided to come here and we were welcomed in and was given a great price quote. We agreed to get the tattoos and they called us early to come get it done. The customer service is great and I felt relaxed! I wasn’t anxious. Rob did mine and Dave did my friend. They both did great!

A friend of mine recommended Cary at Memento Tattoo after I mentioned I was looking to get some new work done. Let me say I was blown away by my experience there. The shop is clean and the staff was friendly and super helpful from the first time I came in to discuss what I was looking for to the time I walked out with the completed work. Cary was super patient at the appointment since I didnt really have the placement worked out and he did multiple different options until we landed on one I liked. Let me just say I am blown away by the completed tattoos. They are way better than I even envisioned. My wife took one look and commented damn that guy is good. I felt so good about the work, I made a follow up appointment on the spot to have a tattoo I had done twenty years ago redone. Well done Memento!!

Cary is one of the best tattooers in all of Columbus. Shop is super clean and priced fairly for very good work. I will definitely be back to get more work done by Cary. I cant speak on the other tattooers in the shop, but I would imagine Cary only hires artists he thinks highly of. Check out their portfolios online, some sick art.

The only reason I didnt give one star is I had a good experience with my first tattoo here. Today however I had a appointment scheduled from about a month ago. After what I thought was giving him plenty of time to draw a sketch I still didnt have a clue what the design would look like until I showed up today. It was nothing like what I had described or what I wanted. He went back to fix some things which was fine but then his conversation carried over from the back room and I heard him and another artist talking about how its hard to make a tattoo out of such a terrible idea and disrespecting what I wanted to have done. I got up and walked out with no plans on ever going back.

I recommend this shop to anyone that asks me for a place to go. Iggy has been my tattoo artist for almost 10 years (before he was ever an artist at Memento). The tattoo on my upper arm still looks so fresh and it has been over 9 years. I get compliments on my tattoos whenever they are vvisible, even from people who start off by saying that they do not like tattoos. His line work is phenomenal and his attention to detail is amazing. He also cares about his clients and he really takes pride in his work.If I could give this place more stars, I would.

Worthy of the hype

Because of a communication breakdown, which I was partially responsible for, the tattoo that I was having done was going to take longer than I originally expected. Because I was paying hourly, this was a concern to me.After deciding to cancel my appointments because of this, the artist personally reached out to explain where he believed things went wrong and why I was led to believe one thing. He then offered to fully refund the hours he spent tattooing me, something I told him wasnt necessary. He insisted on doing so, and has since refunded the money.The communication error on how long the project would take could have been due to my ignorance, and yet this artist fully refunded me. He took extreme ownership and showed real character and I am grateful to him for that.

Was lucky enough to have a piece done by Cary The shop owner. Discovered this place by word of mouth and did research via Instagram and was blown away by the consistent talent of every artist. Cary was a magician and my tattoo was almost healed by the end of our session. No scabbing, beautiful, quick work. Thanks Cary!

Ive been getting tattooed by multiple artists at Memento for a few years now and they have never failed to impress. Along with having an arsenal of the best artists in the city, the shop is extremely clean and the staff is very laid back and friendly. I cant recommend them enough.

I had a great first tattoo experience at Memento. I visited on a Monday and met with Ryan Campbell. I wanted to get a replica of my kittens pawprint since I had to euthanize her after only having her for a week. He was able to get me in two days later. The tattoo is beautiful and almost exactly like her ink pawprint, including stamp-like detail, which was so important to me. The shop was clean, the atmosphere was nice, and Ryan was so friendly and caring. I would recommend Memento to anyone.

I received my first tattoo at Memento after waiting 38yrs. Glad I did it. I gave Cary a few ideas and he came up with something unique. The tattoo turned out great. sharp lines no blow outs. Price was fair. The shop was very clean and inviting. I will be back as I am already coming up with ideas for my next one.

I highly recommend Memento Tattoo & Gallery. I have been there multiple times while getting work done on a shoulder to hip back/side piece. Every time I am there I am warmly greeted, and it is incredibly clean and bright. I have been to other tattoo shops and immediately when I walk in I feel intimidated and as if Im being judged right off the bat and that I am just another appointment. Memento is nothing like that, and that was a really nice feeling. These artists take pride in their work, make you feel welcome, and make sure you leave happy.I have been working with Iggy Sweeney, a very talented artist at the shop. I sent him photos via email and the first time I met him in person he had taken my photo examples and created a beautiful drawing. He made sure I was completely satisfied with the placement of the stencil, making sure I felt comfortable enough to voice an opinion if there was anything I didnt like (about the drawing itself, or seeing it on my body). Every appointment with Iggy thereafter was great. While working on my tattoo, he was completely focused on it. He doesnt miss any tiny detail and told me right off the bat that he will keep working on it until both of us are happy with it and that he refuses to rush it. Hearing that made me feel like he understood how important this tattoo is to me and he wanted it to be perfect. I left every appointment watching my tattoo come to life. Iggy truly has a way of making any tattoo into a work of art that you will keep finding new things to love about. I am in awe of what he is able to do and so thankful that he took so much time and care in working on it. I am so in love with my piece and show it off any chance I get. I can say with no hesitation that if you are looking for an artist that will really listen to what you want, and create something that truly beautiful and meaningful, Iggy is your answer.

Ive been a tattoo artist in Columbus for over 21 years now and Ive been extremely fortunate to not only have found a ton of success artistically, but I also have the blessing to have had and continue to have a very strong following of clients from all over. I truly am grateful and humbled. So with that being said, I cant help but feel compelled to respond to, and also feel completely disheartened by the last review given by Mr. Michael Wiggins (his review is just underneath my response here). This is not common for me, in the past 21 plus years I cant think of any other negative reviews Ive ever experienced.First I just wan to address that prior to responding here on google, I sent Mr.Wiggins a lengthy email expressing my disappointment in his experience with me. I addressed every issue in his review expressing to him every apology. I believe that part of my success has come from treating people right and giving every effort in making sure that my clients are happy. But like in any other business, the fact is, we cant make everyone happy. But regardless, I take full responsibility in any disappointment any of my clients may experience. And any responsible artist would try to go above and beyond to remedy the situation. In my email, I offered Mr.Wiggins every opportunity to come in and share with me what he would want done to change and improve his tattoo, of course free of charge. Its the least I could do.And with that, I feel driven to say, I take pride in what I do and I try and place maximum effort in my work. But Im only one artist. So my advice to anyone getting tattooed for the first time, be sure you pick the right artist for you. There are plenty of talented artists out there that are well versed in all different styles of tattooing. Also, make sure you find it easy to speak freely and communicate well with your artist to express your wants and needs. Dont be afraid to tell your artist how you feel. Dont agree to get tattooed if you feel the artwork isnt up to your liking and or standards. And if your artist isnt open to dialog or just simply isnt responsive to you, it doesnt matter how talented he or she is. Theyre not the right artist for you.In closing I just want to add, I realize Im not perfect. But Ive spent the past 2 decades trying to push and grow as an artist to fill my portfolio with countless beautiful pieces. But I most certainly put all the pressure on myself, Im only as successful as my worst review. I hope you take my response here and my email to heart Mr.Wiggins because I loose sleep over your experience. Best of luck to you sir.oh… and btw, The only reasons I gave my response 4 starts is that Im truly speaking from the heart and that these reviews dont just affect my online rating, it also affects everyone I work with at our shop. It wouldnt be fair to them.

Great artists!

This was an absolutely bad demonstration of how to do business. I went to the shop a week before and spoke with Ryan Campbell who set up an appointment for my girlfriend and I to get work done. Ryan never responded to emails I then sent him of the images I sent, nor inquiries of if he actually received them. I called on the day we were scheduled to confirm our appointment when the gentleman on the phone said that he was there and had everything set for us at 5, but the appointment was at 5:30pm. When we arrived the shop was closed. The experience has been overwhelmingly disappointing considering this was a recommendation from several friends.

Ive been tattooed here dozens of times. Staff, service, atmosphere, talent; its a wonderful establishment.

Was there to get a tatoo for my birthday. Made an appointment a week prior. Emailed correspondence prior to appointment with artist. Called to confirm on day of. When I arrive at 5:30 for my 5:30 appointment, the shop is closed. However buisness hours were 12-7 that day. Was stood up by my artist. He had my email and phone number too had thier been any question as to whether or not I was going to show. No phone call, no email, no text. Nothing. I will never recommend this shop and will never go back. Bad buisness practices.

When I finally decided to get my first tattoo I did some research on different artists. The artist I chose was Gio! He was highly recommended by a handful of different people. After looking at his work I made an appointment to discuss what I wanted. Gio is very professional but also has a sense of humor so 3 hours with a needle in your arm doesnt seem quite so long!! Random people comment on my tattoo :) I couldnt be happier with it. My tattoo is a cherry blossom tree on my shoulder and down to my elbow. Check it out on his page- Tattoos by Gio. While Iggy at Memento was tattooing, one of the other artists asked if he was doing re-work because the linework was so bad. Thats NOT what you want to hear when youre getting a tattoo on your back you havent been able to see!Keep in mind that the books and internet galleries display the BEST work an artist does. Dont expect a repeat performance. Iggy took some basic sketches I did and turned them into... a tattoo the basic sketches I did. Although I paid for design, he put in zero effort over the next six months. I ended up with a tattoo of my first draft of a design--almost. At that point I was fine with it, because it was clear I wasnt going to get anything better out of him. I did like the design I drew, although I thought Id get some professional critique and improvements. So I sat in the chair.Oh, and his per-hour rate includes the hour he takes for lunch while youre sitting there half naked.I have a mostly-ok looking tattoo, with significant hypertrophic scarring in areas where I told him the needle didnt feel right. He didnt make any adjustments, just said to deal with it, it wouldnt be a problem.I dont regret the tattoo, but I do regret my choice of artist. I wish I had known better.Ill need to get this re-worked sometime soon. In the second session, he augmented the original design by freehanding an elementary school Joker-style smile to the profile of the figure in the tattoo.
