UPDATEHad a much better visit this time. The music was still amazing and the food and drinks were out of this world. Service this time was fast and friendly never having to wait to long for a server to check on your or the items you ordered to come back. On the advice of the owner I put in a special request for an up feont seat and was rewarded with a much more comfortable dining experience. I would highly reccomend!

Absolutely one of my favorite places. I love the music, The atmosphere, the drinks, the snacky snacks (or tapas for you fancy people), call ahead for reservations so you can ensure you have a table. They’re very accommodating for the most part. The owner walks around and visits with people! Very nice man. And it’s a great night out to just get dressed up in your fancy clothes, go out on a date, or with your girlfriends! Highly recommended

We LOVE Motif! This place is modern classy and cool. They always have amazing music. The drinks are original and fun. Its a little difficult to find in the shopping center but I guess thats a good thing.... This place is intimate and can run out of room quick. My only complaint is the price of the cocktails..

This was my fourth NEW YEAR celebration, and each year you improve on a perfect performance. This year you had a new chef, and the selection, food quality was impressive. Presentation, taste, the variety and temperature wasfirst class.I am a retired Hotel Executive, managed resorts and high profile hospitality operations for 22 years. MOTIF JAZZ was managed with exceptional service. Service and quality - beverages and food was planned and executed attentive, and the music was a pleasure. I would suggest to watch the volume, especially when you sit upfront, or relocate the speakers.Thank you for a pleasant evening and for the fond memories. We had the best experience at Motif! After reading several reviews about Motif I was skeptical about the service and food at this Cafe. We found the food to be just ok but the service was very good! The music was exceptional. We were so surprised that there is not a cover charge. We were there for the entire musical set, from 7pm to 10pm. The owner and the musicians introduced themselves to us. BTW the owner is a very accomplished musician in his own right. If you want to hear him play just buy him a glass of wine and he will get up on stage with the performers. We intend to be regulars at this cafe and introduce our friends to this venue.

This is a little hidden gem! Im a big blues and jazz fan. The setting is intimate and perfect for a date night. The food was OUTSTANDING.The menu changes every night and so does the music. I will continue to come back here and will recommend to anybody looking for a live music awesome place to be at.The owner greeted us and always makes us feel welcomed!!

Nice atmosphere a little pricey for the portion size. I wouldnt go there super hungry. The entertainment is awesome only place of its kind in Colorado Springs. Not a large place, seating is close together. I would recommend reservations

A real jazz bar with excellent music and relaxing atmosphere for any occasion. Friendly staff. Saturday night is full, so reservation is recommended. We got lucky when a reservation became available when we arrived. Great first impression.

Motif is a lovely spot for jazz. The club is really pretty, acoustics are very good. Motif has a nice menu. I was very happy to see some vegetarian options. Our server was superb. I have made the trip from Denver a few times to see shows at Motif. If I lived closer I would probably go every weekend.

We attended a show on a Saturday evening and made reservations in advance. We arrived for a pre show dinner and our reservation for 3 was only set up for 2. A short while later a chair was secured but it took 2 requests for cutlery. (We were the only diners at that point) Drinks and appetizers were ordered and arrived quickly. A few more folks drifted in and were seated. We had to get our servers attention to order the mains. The server mentioned they were out of one menu option but they had pork sliders as a substitute. Three sliders in the order. When they arrived there were 2 sliders and the server informed us of the change when she brought out the food.. One order was cold. I ordered beef bourguinon. I had a hard time recognizing it. The chunks of meat were tough. There were bits of frozen carrots mixed with the meat in a gelatinous type of sauce. I have never had this dish prepared this way. We ordered a second round of drinks but only one arrived. Again I had to get the servers attention and remind her of my missing drink. The band was great. We requested our bill just before the first set was over and it was tough to read in the dark. I didnt realize a 20% gratuity was automatically added and tipped the waitress 25% on top of the total. If I thought of the total price I paid for a mediocre meal and poor service it would make me angry so I reconciled this by telling myself I paid $20 for the band.

First time here and will definitely be coming back! Great atmosphere for a date or just having a nice talk with friends with background music and a live band coming on at 8:30. Interesting drinks, knowledgeable and friendly waiters and waitresses. You can sit inside with the low lights or out on the patio near the fire pit (weather permitting).

It has been a while since I have visited but I am sure it hasnt changed. Great live jazz from local talent. The owner plays the piano and is top notch. I dont do cocktails so I cant give an opinion on that. On weekends be sure to reserve a spot for your party early.

Awesome place to enjoy a good drink and food! They can fill up so a reservation is best. They also post who is playing that night on Instagram. It is a go to place for us now.

Went on Valentines the band was ok, but the service was awful, more than 15 minutes to get a beer in a can and it wasnt crowded... we got a 4 course meal supposedly high rated, soup and salad was good but the entree OMG grilled burned chicken with rice hard as rocks (nobody in my table eat it) and desert was a joke like two table spoons of ice cream for $55 plus they charge the tip, not coming back and dont recommend this place

Best drinks in town. Always a great time at Motif! They use local raw honey in their bees knees drink and i cant get enough. Best bees knees Ive ever had, and Ive tried all the speakeasies in town now. Bartenders are fun to talk with, food is divine, cook is fun to talk with too, music is always good, ambience is fantastic. One of my favorite places, cant recommend enough.

Great live music! Seems the venue has all seating areas reserved minus those at the bar. Call in to reserve your seat.The Cafe was difficult to locate, as the front of it can not be seen from the parking lot.

Finally got to go for the first time and the experience was awesome. The drinks were delicious. The venue was very clean and warm. The servers were very attentive, polite and smiley. Definitely makes you feel welcome to relax and ready to enjoy some jazz music!

I heard about this jazz café from a friend of mine. Since my daughters both love jazz, I thought it would be a great opportunity to check this place out on a Friday evening.The food was amazing! Both the appetizers (aka prelude), and the entrees (aka Chorus) were awesome! For the Prelude, we tried the Bison Sliders; free-range Colorado bison with roasted chili, marinated peppers, pepper jack cheese on a fresh bun.We also tried the Charcuterie plate which had cured artisan meats, various craft cheeses, fruit mustardo local bread, fresh fruit and olives. AMAZING!For the Chorus, we had the bison steak which was Mediterranean spiced bison steak, herbed couscous, olives, served with marinated tomatoes, and an herb yogurt sauce with fresh herbs.Definitely an amazing time and will plan to go back soon!

Classy New York styled lounge in the broadmoor area..how could you go wrong? Their bartenders specialize in craft cocktails.. Definitely try their old fashion!! The food is amazing also. They have gluten free items as well. Hidden gem in Colorado springs but definitely recommended!! The live music is wonderful, such talent! But despite the small size, they designed it so you dont have to tell over music to have a private conversation.. IM IN LOVE with this place

We had a great time listening to Jim Stranahan and his band. The atmosphere reminds me of jazz clubs from the movies without the smoke. I had a beer and dessert. I did not like the beer but, dessert was delicious. It seemed to me that everyone enjoyed the music as the servers scurried through the seating area.

The food is fresh and different and unique every time we come. The drinks are delicious, it doesnt matter what you like youll enjoy these. The atmosphere is awesome. Dont forget to ask about the patio after dinner if you are on a date

Why this place is not packed every single night, I will never know: amazing music, amazing food, chilled atmosphere. The jazz is world class here! I’ve been here a half dozen times and it keeps exceeding expectations!

Great music, great atmosphere, great service. I really enjoyed myself! The only thing that turned me off, was they added the gratuity to my bill. (We werent a big party, just two of us). I honestly would have tipped more, had they not done this. Just a pet piev of mine.

Great spot! Beautiful ambiance, excellent service, yummy food and fun cocktail menu. Live music! Go check it out. Only reason for four stars was that on a Thursday night it was pretty dead. The prices are a little steep for this area, but they are super environmentally and community minded, so I support that. If I lived here, it would be a regular spot for me.

The food was delicious as well as displayed creatively. The drinks were flavorful and smooth. The music was excellent. However, the service was unsatisfactory. The gratuity is included with your bill, however the service is not included with your order. Our waiter forgot one of our orders, we had to grab their attention every time we needed something for our table. True, the waiter wanted us wanting more. I just wish it wasnt more attention.

Good music, but eat before your come

Motif Jazz Cafe is a little place, kind of hard to find and a little out of place in what feels like a cross between a strip mall and an office park. When you first walk in, its small, dark... and wonderfully comfortable! The small staff was attentive. The menu, like Motif overall, is kind of small, but everything we ordered arrived quickly, and was absolutely delicious. The small, cozy atmosphere made it easy to make an instant connection both the staff and the performers. We were there for about four hours, and enjoyed the entire experience!

Excellent music, service, and food. Definitely a place for anybody trying to spend a few hours listening to some great musicians in a classy venue.

Thanks to the Jazz Gods for dropping Motif in our neighborhood. From the get go this awesome club has delivered great music, good food and drink and a perfectly oh so cool jazzy vibe in which to relax and appreciate good music. The Drapers, owners and good humans, expertly run, and actually are present most nights at the club, and if you’re really lucky you’ll even get to enjoy a song or two awesomely played by Steve Draper on the piano. Thanks Drapers and Motif Jazz for fulfilling my Jazz fix in the most superb way.

Try this place! Food, vibes, music and drinks were all excellent. Thank you so much, Steve for a lovely evening. We had to leave earlier than expected but you and the staff took such GREAT care of us and we are hoping to join you all again next weekend for our anniversary!

But, my recent visit to Motif has tarnished my impression of the place, both due to the fact that that didnt have a single vegetarian option, entree or appetizer, on the menu and how they handled my query about whether any veggie option was available, but not listed on the menu.My wait person responded that she would ask the chef, which made me happy. She also returned saying the chef could make a dish. My mistake was not asking how much that would be. Most of their entrees are in the $10-$20 range. Their udon ramen bowl, that includes pork, is $10. I was brought a veggie udon bowl, which tasted okay, but was spoiled some by too much ginger. What surprised me was that they charged me $18 for it. I was never informed that they were going to almost double the cost of their regular udon dish after taking out the meat. If they had told me they were going to do that, I would not have ordered it. Other changes were probably made to the dish, but it definitely didnt warrant such an increase in price. They should have informed me they were going to make such a huge increase when I ordered it. Then I would have said no thank you. I mentioned this to the wait person, but she didnt do anything about it.Also, they add on a 20% gratuity that you cant edit. Because of the extravagant charge for my dish, I reduced the gratuity, but Motif ignored that and billed my credit card the amount they decided was correct.

The location is hidden a little but the atmosphere and music was amazing!!! All of the staff were well dressed and the food was great! We will be back soon!

Incredible atmosphere with live music, drinks & food specials...it has a great vibe for a chill mood, sitting back, having a drink & vibing to the music. I gave it 4 stars only because in my opinion I believe the drinks are very expensive, although great, but I went with my husband & only had 2 drinks (1 drink each, he had a bourbon & I had a martini) & our bill was $47. I love the place, people, atmosphere & everything & most likely to return in the future!

My husband and I came here for our one year anniversary. The place was amazing! The music was wonderful the food was perfect. Our waitress was very friendly and persistent. The people around were even so nice. I am happy to come again!

Met the most sincere as well as crafty gentleman behind the bar who made me this delicious drink in honor of turning 30. The staff were very kind and on point with everything. Cant wait to return :-)

The food is excellent. The talent is awesome. Especially look for Jim Stranahan. The menu is upscale as is the price, but the taste is exceptional. Menu changes frequently so they do run out of items - hence 4 stars.

Loved the atmosphere, great wait staff, fun cocktails and delicious dinner of salmon. Oh, and the London Fog cake was lovely. Then the nite went to the next level due to the great jazz group and vocalist. Our Motif visit last night made my week! Super experience.

The atmosphere was incredible the food was absolutely the best that I have ever eaten anywhere. You could actually taste that they use high quality food in the meals. They had a live band playing some incredible jazz. Its one of those places that you really have to experience to truly appreciate it because words just arent enough.

Motifs is AMAZING. I surprised my Fiance with a night out and just stumbled on this places while googling. The directions were clear on the website and where to find them. Their food was great and fresh. The musicians were fantastic. We truly enjoyed and will be back for more!

Without a doubt, one of the best experiences Ive had at a live club/bar. The music was incredible and the sound impeccable; our waitress was both knowledgeable and pleaseant which made the experience a treat all around. Highly recommended for a musical experience you wont forget and will have you coming back for more.

So impressed with this lovely gem in Colorado Springs! Went there last Thursday night and sat at the bar. Really cool ambiance and great energy. Awesome colors in the decor and fantastic music. I had a mezcal cocktail and a panko chicken small plate, both which I loved. The staff was tentative, efficient and friendly and it looked like everyone was having a great night...especially me!

Went here for NYE, we called ahead to make reservations for a party of 12, and in that call, the call later to confirm after no email was sent, and when we showed up, never was there mentioned a cover. Was this a reasonable cover? No, this was a $50 cover, this wasn’t mentioned on the advertisements for the NYE party, or anywhere when showing up. When confronted, management was unmoved and refused to even admit fault or make a motion to change procedures in the future. In addition, the punch bowl option was 75% ice! Nice atmosphere, but not worth it.

An intimate venue with great music,friendly staff and gourmet food.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this excellent jazz cafe/bar in Colorado Springs. A friend invited several of us here for a Thursday evening of jazz. When we walked in, the decor and vibe were so fun, luxurious, and inviting. I loved the decor and the comfort and coziness of the place. Down to the furniture, Steve (the owner) has it down right. And the food is decadent.The chef here is creative and talented. I had the salmon and a plate of onion rings. The salmon was perfect and the onion rings were large and crispy. We cleaned our plates, because every bite was so good. The food is beautiful and delicious. I didnt have a cocktail, but my friends thoroughly enjoyed theirs. I understand that the bar tenders here are very talented and mix their own creations.We sat inside for a while and then moved our party of 8 to the patio, which felt like a resort. We had our dessert out there and enjoyed the perfect summer evening weather, watching the sky turn red as the sun set. I believe everyone ordered the lemon bread dessert. It was delicious and big enough to share.This is a great place to splurge and enjoy a luxurious evening. Will be having our book club here next time!

Really awesome environment. Jean Paul always serves up the best drinks. As someone who used to work there though...the money is horrible because people stay for the whole show while only purchasing one drink and don’t tip accordingly. So if you go there please don’t hog your servers table ALL NIGHT and if you do, please tip accordingly. You don’t tip based on what you ordered, if you stay all night there is a rental charge for your spot!!!

Do not to go to this venue. The staff is unapologetically scamming people, and purposely not communicating professionally. Neither their website nor their staff will tell you that they charge $55 A PERSON JUST FOR ADMISSION. We had a party of ten. They did not apologize for the misunderstanding, they did not budge or offer to negotiate, and they apparently did not think that word of mouth could wreck their reputation. At NO POINT, either on the website or on the phone OR at the host desk, was it made know that there was an admission fee. If it had been communicated at all that there was a charge that outrageous, per person, we would have immediately canceled. The staff was neither polite nor helpful in reaching any kind of understanding or negotiation, nor were they apologetic in resolving the issue.It’s also worth mentioning, as it pertains to how this business operates, that the “punch bowls” they were serving that evening were watered down with 80% ice. They’re not concerned with quality drinks, just exorbitant prices. They’re concerned with only the bottom line, and that is no way to run a business.I hope this helps others and saves them time and a LOT of money.

WORTH THE READ:I went to Motifs Friday night with my boyfriend. I was excited because I had been there when they were in Old Colorado City.The place is tucked away between two other businesses. You could hear the vocals and instruments of the jazz band before you even opened the door. We went in and it had a nice crowd and great bar that was fully stocked. The hostess came up and got us seated in a timely manner. We enjoyed the first two songs and glanced at our menus. Song number 3 started and we still had not received any water or acknowledgement and the two servers on the floor had walked past us three times. We wait till the fifth song when I called one of the servers over before she passed us a fourth time. She apologized and poured us some water, then she sits down in the seat across from me and asks us if we would like anything else? Even though I did not care for her lack of professionalism, we were the only table she sat at, I ordered the tomato-basil soup without the croutons. The soup was ready in about 5 minutes and another server brought it out and it had croutons on it. I let her know I had asked for no croutons, she apologized and brought out another that was cool so I didnt finish it, but did have a few spoonfuls. Then it became the waiting game again. After she dropped off the check we waited about 7 minutes, I told my boyfriend that we should just pay up front because they probably werent coming back. We stood by the hostess stand and did some more waiting. The server finally came and got the check and cashed us out. I didnt leave a tip. I have never received such poor service before and unless they teach their staff better serving etiquette I wont be returning in the foreseeable future.

Best night out last night in a long time! Have been missing this place since the original location closed and finally made it to the new location, which is better than ever! Steve the owner and Rob the general manager were very personable and made you feel welcomed and valued. Jean-Paul made some of the best drinks that both my husband and I have ever had. The jazz trio last night was amazing, bought both of their CDs. While we sat up front inside, we got a tour of the new patio, and we will definitely be coming back with friends to eat out there. July menu was amazing! Hope to come once a month to try each new menu. Nothing could have been more perfect last night!

Great place to have a business meeting or bring a date!! On the expensive side but you get what you pay for and thus the experience was top notch...

Wonderful, great service and a slow meal. We ordered the 5 course meal and it took about 1.5 hours to eat. I loved having the time to enjoy each intetesting course. The music made the experience that much better.

Music worth returning for but eat first. Acoustics very good not too loud or crowded. Make reservations. Tapas were salty, small, limited and way overpriced. The waitress gave a spiel about their policy if you dont like the drink it is replaced and no charge, but it didnt happen. Weak bland watery cosmopolitan. Extremely slow service. We didnt want to wait another 30 + minutes to catch her and get it romeved. Manhattans outstanding, but couldnt order a Jack and Coke as neither are available. Many other restaurants around for $50 a person! and we were not big eaters.2 tapas each and 1 drink.

Great place with great food and live entertainment. The atmosphere is outstanding and deserves to be listed as a “must see”. My wife and I will make this a regular place to attend.
