My daughter and I did a class with Michele. She was AMAZING! We had so much fun and learned a lot. The store is so pretty too. Looking forward to going again soon and using our new skills.

Very specialized, owner is Very nice. They have everything you need to do and learn Calligraphy. Even have small specialized groups for classes kids age. Highly highly recommend.

Into calligraphy? On my first visit, found a wide selection of calligraphy pens, inks, and papers. The salesperson was very helpful and friendly. They offer calligraphy classes, about $60 each, but believe its one on one teaching. Picked up a starter pen for $3! Worth a visit if your into calligraphy!

Definitely stop by if you’re in the area! I’m sure you will find something you will like! Small store with a big bite!

Yesterday I took a brush lettering workshop at East Coast Calligraphy. I did not have any previous experience, but the description for the course said that it was suitable for beginners so I signed up. I had a hugely positive experience at the course.The shop is beautiful; it is clean and welcoming, and it was a lovely place to spend a few hours. As a teacher, I can be a bit picky about instruction, but the instruction that was given yesterday was superb. Maureen, the instructor, was patient and kind. She provided clear instructions to the group, and then walked around to each of us individually to make sure we understood the brushstroke or letter that we were working on. Maureen taught us an entire alphabet, as well as a variety of flourishes and flowers that we could add to our lettering. She allowed us to try a variety of brushes, and reminded us that it was okay to make mistakes.In addition to teaching us the basics, Maureen showed us examples of what we could create as our skills improved. She also told us that lettering was relaxing, and that incorporating some practice into our daily lives would be beneficial for our stress levels. I wholeheartedly agree.The shop has an impressive collection of inks, pens, brushes, and paper--but I never felt any sort of pressure to purchase more than what I needed. I left class with a small project, and suggestions for things that I can do to practice my lettering.I had a wonderful time at the class, and I am looking forward to the next one!

Amazing place! Full of knowledge and talent when it comes to calligraphy. As far as the pricing goes...they got better deals than most of the bigger Art Stores.
