This school only cares about money not it’s students. i can’t even count how many issues i have had at this school with faculty. it is extremely liberal and i got an very biased education. i really liked some of my professors like John Izzi and Pauline Jennings, but unfortunately i cant say that they represent the whole of the college, however they made my experience there so much better.

Saint Michaels Colllege accepted me as a non-traditional veteran student, with open arms. As a 35 year old, I have traveled extensively and interacted with diverse communities. I believe wholeheartedly that SMC is inclusive and strives for excellence and fairness where it is due, creating fairness for a wide range of situations. Being inclusive. For example, SMC approved my waiver which was requesting an increase in the allottment of transferable credits towards my credit evaluation, as a transfer student. For SMC to respond to my request in the fashion that they did, was simply, above and beyond. Further, having interacted with several professors, I genuinely feel immersed and surrounded by knowledgeable subject matter experts who really are passionate about their expertise, but more importantly the community, at large. Each of my professors approached me and took the time to befriend me, again going the extra mile. Its not everyday you find a genuinely, passionate, caring, and responsive community. And for what it is worth to anyone reading this, nobody asked me to write this, I wasnt incentivized in any way, I just wanted give homage where it is due. These people won my respect. If your a veteran seeking a valuable college experience after having transitioned out of the military, I would encourage you to consider SMC.

This school went from four stars my freshman year to being one star (now a senior). The gyms are dirty and machines are not fixed in any semblance of a timely manner when they break. The food is often bad and not nutritious (example: desert bars as options for dinner rather than something healthy). The departments are underfunded. The school can’t fund clubs and discourages students from forming new organizations. A student led extension of a non-for-profit started at UVM was discouraged because it competed with the bookstore, and a bunch of red tape was thrown at it. They created a new residence building on a parking lot, and didn’t account for those lost spaces. Only one actual option for food other than the dining hall exists, and the food is unhealthy and not very diverse. The best thing about this school is the faculty, and even some of them are frustrating. My friends with learning differences are frequently challenged by a lack of sympathy and understanding. Very little diversity exists on this campus. We haven’t had a real spring/fall concert since my freshman year. College culture is being squashed- they’re having finals on Derby Day this year and academic events on P Day, two things that make spring semester great. Overall, if this review can save someone from coming here, I did my job.

I transferred to Saint Mikes after studying two semesters at Vermont Technical College, and the difference is huge. I know tuition difference is huge too, but its worth it. From professors, staff to students, the library, and classes, everything is great. A best experience!!

The place is like a technical college spread out and boring. The dormitories are ran down And house Administrative offices and certain functions are housed in the basementsof the dorms. This place has really gone downhill over the years there’s a lot better opportunity for education out there. I would classify it as a Catholic party college

The education department has difficulty supporting their different learners. They fail to demonstrate what effective teaching looks like, undermining the departments authenticity.
