Ive really found the place to be fascinating. When I first came to Cloquet, it was one of my first stops and since then, I like to stop by from time to time to learn about the history of the area.
The Carlton County Historical Society is located in the towns old library. While the permanant exhibits feature the fire of 1918 and the logging days, there are regularly new exhibits coming and going. The staff is helpful, and they are eager to teach you things you may not have known about the history of the town, the building, and the county.
$3 admission. PHOTOGRAPHS NOT ALLOWED. 20 minutes to see & read everything. 30% train & logging (interesting), 30% fire (meh - unexceptional), 30% photos of barns (not interesting). Save your $3.
