This was a Christmas present for my parents and I brought my fiancé with me to make this a great family outing. My sister got sick but Ohio City Glass said they will give her and her boyfriend a voucher to come at a later date. This place is very honorable and perfect for a family event. I look forward to doing it again

If I could give zero stars I would. I had questions about the reservations that I had bought through Groupon. There was no phone number to call, only email and FB message. I emailed them on the third, and FB messaged them on the 19th and didn’t get a response until the 25th, the day when I wanted to make the reservation. When they did respond they were extremely unprofessional and disrespectful, saying I didn’t read their website and that I should have contacted them sonnet because they fill up in advance. When I initially reached out to them their was room; we were extremely disappointed that we had to miss out on this experience, and with their customer service skills.

My husband and I enjoyed the Saturday 3/10/18 workshop very much! The Groupon deal was a fantastic opportunity for us to have our 1st experience participating in this art. There is so much to learn! Daniel is informative in his talent and this area of the arts. He is helpful, and goes out of his way to make sure your experience is hands-on, fun, yet safe. We definitely want to take additional workshops.

I always want to support local businesses and entrepreneurs but I am having a hard time recommending this one. My daughter and I had fun at the class but I can not say that the instructor made the class enjoyable. I understand the need for him to be on top of things due to the difficulty and safety required however the instructor seemed impatient and at times bordering on rude. I don’t think he meant to be but still came across like that. He was very interested in telling all of us how hard it is to do this, how much time he spent learning and we shouldn’t expect much as if no one could be as good as him. Not that we expected to, but a little encouragement goes a long way. Obviously this is not just me as other people have written similar reviews. . I think the owner( instructor) is quite talented and knowledgeable but he might consider taking a class or 2 on customer service and how to teach a skill. As far as pick up goes, I went on a day he said he would be open...not open. I messaged him and sent a message on FB ( no phone) and as of writing this over 24 hours later I have not had a response. I just picked them up. Another person came in to pick things up during our class and when he entered the studio, the instructor snapped at him as if he was a child that did not listen to the instructions! Again probably not intentional but not a way to treat a customer. Pleased with my piece and happy to have done something with my daughter but overall not impressed with the business.

I bought a Groupon for the beginners’ glass workshop here, and my husband and I had a great time. Daniel demonstrated each step of the process for us then allowed us to make our own pieces, offering as much or as little help as we needed. It’s a fun date and a fascinating experience. I can’t wait to pick up our pieces.

My boyfriend bought class time for me as a gift. We have taken a couple of glass blowing/forming classes in the past, and this experience was by far the best learning experience of any. Zach was our instructor and he was wonderful. He demonstrated three pieces before we began, explaining each step as he worked, and letting us know that were we to choose a solid piece, we would be doing it more independently than if we chose a blown piece. He explained that the blown work were more delicate and needed an experienced hand to come out correctly. This makes sense, especially as we went along. With some (very limited) experience doing solid work, I can assure you the blown glass was very different. My boyfriend gave me his class time, so I got to make two pieces and I chose blown for both. Zach gave me the opportunity to try as much as I was comfortable with, and provided support to keep me from messing up the pieces with my inexperience. I am looking forward to picking these up. I feel that I had an good deal of personal input and work in both pieces and will happily tell others I made this (with help of course). Ill definitely be taking more classes in the future!

This business is totally not reputable and is very unprofessional. A class was cancelled at the last minute and no one was notified except for an update to the Facebook page. The owner then proceeded to rant and rave on social media bashing all of the people asking why the class was cancelled without proper notice. The owner also would not return any form of communication to reschedule or refund. We had to get a full refund from Groupon. Also, judging from the prior reviews, this seems to be a common thread for this business and has happened many times.

The glass blowing class was a blast! I would highly recommend to anyone in the Cleveland area. Zach taught our class. On the night we went, we had a group of 4. I think it 4 was a good size for beginning to learn during the time and space allotted. The whole experience was unique and interesting and I absolutely loved it! I am a small business owner myself and can appreciate how much time, money, effort, and love goes into a business such as this. They are doing a great job at Ohio City Glass. They are the embodiment of the positive energy going on in Ohio City, and Cleveland in general, right now. Open your heart and mind and channel your energy into a beautiful glass masterpiece. :-)

Terrible experience. First it is in an unsavory part of town. Second, theres no parking. We stood at the front door waiting for 20 minutes with the garbage as we were told to come 15 minutes early when another couple came up and said your wasting your time. They had a 10:00 class that they never showed up for. We waited a little bit longer but they never showed. It costed me a $120 lunch and another $100 for something to do in place of this since we got stood up. Dont do it!

I am so disappointed with this business! It is such a cool experience but the service is TERRIBLE! Why even have a phone hooked up if you never answer calls and never return messages??? I have been emailing them every day and still have not heard back. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but they are just plain rude and unprofessional. We came in on a Sunday with a group of 4 and were told to come back to following Saturday or Sunday between the hours of 10 am and 8pm to pick up our pieces. We drove almost an hour to the shop only to find that no one was there. We waited then left and came back about 2 hours later and still, no one was there. I try calling every single day and never get an answer. I have also emailed every day and they will not reply to me. I have tried to refrain from writing this review but they cannot expect to treat their customers so poorly and not be bashed for it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE TO GO TO THIS BUSINESS AND PAY THEM TO TREAT YOU SO TERRIBLY. Shame on the owner for replying to all of these poor reviews and saying they will fix THIS SAME ISSUE but just continue to run a shady shop.

Horrible. I am very disappointed. I bought the Groupon as a Christmas gift for my father. I made a reservation almost two months in advace. I had taken the day off work and everything. The day before my scheduled appointment I got an email reminder to show up 10 min early. I showed up about 30 min prior to the appointment. No one was there....I figured maybe I was a little early so my father and I waited until about 4:30 (the appointment was at 4) still nothing. I knocked and rang the bell repeatedly, nothing. They don’t have a phone number on their website (red flag) . If there was an issue I just feel like it couldn’t be hard to contact me via email or phone to let me know that they needed to reschedule. But apparently my time is of no importance to this terrible company. Do not waste your time money or effort. There are other glass blowing places that would be happy to teach people. I can’t wait to hear that this place is out of business.

I decided to take my girlfriend and her sister here for her Christmas gift. The workers that were present were all high spirited and very welcoming. The overall experience/service that was provided was great! The instructor provided introductory information to get us all acclimated. Further, each person creating a piece had individual time with the instructor during the creation process. The environment had a care free, jovial feel, due to the relaxed nature of the owner and other workers. My girlfriend stated she felt right at home with the studio feel of the place. Only downsides were that the building was a bit hidden from the street, while trying to find it. It is behind a tattoo shop. Also, I was a bit bummed that the owner would not honor a groupon I found, but I understand business is business.

Actually this should be ZERO stars!!! From a business standpoint, he needs to close up shop!! I had a bead making class and after a one hour drive, I arrive to then get told by the instructor that he was too dehydrated to teach the class so asked me to reschedule. I thought I would give him the benefit of the doubt. Well, when I tried to reschedule it took me over 7 emails and a week of calling a number that no one picked up at, I was able to reschedule. I had also previously purchased a glass blowing class and once again, upon my arrival after a 1 hour drive, there was a note taped to the door stating he had an emergency and couldnt teach class and his assistant would be calling me the following day. Well, it is 3 days later and of course NO call!! I will be demanding a refund!! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Trust me there wont be a third!!

My boyfriend and I took a class through Groupon and we both had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. At the beginning of the class, our instructor, Daniel, demonstrated how to make two solid pieces (paperweight and flower) and a blown piece (wavy bowl). For people new to glassblowing, taking in all of the instructions at the beginning can seem a bit overwhelming, but Daniel does an excellent job breaking down each task and explaining why each step is important to make a great end product. He also provides hands-on assistance and instruction when you make your own pieces during the second half of the class, so as long as you have a general idea of whats you should be doing, youll do fine. Our class was very small, since the other four people who made reservations didnt show up, and we appreciated the individual, one-on-one attention from Daniel. The class lasted for about two hours, and my boyfriend and I each made a solid piece and a blown piece. We were very pleased with how they turned out. We would definitely recommend this class to people who are artistically inclined or simply curious about glassblowing.

My sister and I attended an introductory class here today for my birthday. I have given a lot of thought about my review before posting this and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Upon entering the shop, we were treated with mild disdain and as though they couldnt be less excited about welcoming new students to their studio. This attitude pervaded throughout our entire experience. Zach, our instructor talked down to us, threw a TON of information at us and was not in the least encouraging. The studio was very disorganized and added to general feeling of confusion. I am a jewelry designer and also work in stained glass, as well as teach in my other profession and this is not how you encourage an interest in your craft and bolster confidence in your students. I do *get* that this is a studio and that you are arteests, but treating middle age women who have come to your place of business with a warm welcome, some smiles and a you-can-do-this attitude would have gone a long way and earned you a better review.

I signed up for a bead flameworking class and when I arrived I was told they had no oxygen so I had to try glassblowing instead. I was okay with this at first even though its not what I wanted to do.I made 2 pieces but the only amount of work I got to do to create them was blowing into the blow tube a few times. My instructor did a large majority of all the work, I never got to marve the glass or shape anything. This ended up basically watching a demonstration, I never got a chance to practice the techniques shown because I could tell instructor wanted to get a finished product. When asked what the instructor likes to make in his spare time he said he only makes the demonstration pieces and doesnt really do anything else. Kinda disappointing, I would of expected my instructor to have some passion for glassIf youre looking for a fun activity I wouldnt hesitate to stop by but if youre trying to further your skills maybe look around. They claim customers have a smear campaign against them but really cant take constructive criticism.

As one of the 1st groupons customers, I would have strongly recommended this. But after more than 8 months of broken promises of shipping our made items and now Daniel wont even respond to calls or e-mails, Im very disappointed in this company. One thing that was never told to us is that we had to pick-up our items the next day, but since we were leaving the same day as the class, Daniel the owner agreed to contact me with the shipping cost, I would pay that and he would ship the three items we made. That has never happened, so I guess I just paid for his time, as he never fulfilled the agreement that was made when the groupon was purchased. So, I have been fighting for my items, but I guess now I should just fight for my money back!! I thought the owner...Daniel was a cool guy, hes just not a man of his words.
