This is like a secret island in the middle of the Clemson University campus. A tour guide pointed it out for its relevance (tear it down and the University loses its charter), and we went back for a free tour. The house was built in stages and has many unique artifacts. Whether youre into history or architecture, theres something to see.The staff is trying to elevate the houses status as a museum, so drop in and help them with a visitor survey.

Amazing hidden gem! We were visiting the Botanical Gardens and the guide there suggested Fort Hill. So glad we took the time to take in this amazing piece of history. We are history buffs and have visited many home in the Carolina area but none have truly had original furnishings-more than 90% of what we saw were original to this home and the family. Thank you so very much to the guide (a fellow Minnesotan I might add) for your vast amount of knowledge and clarifying historical facts for us. You were amazingly enthusiastic and we greatly appreciated your time spent with us.

Awesome. Check out the black and white painting by the dining table and see if you can spot the Indians face in the middle. Why is a saw shark nose on the couch? And what is the story behind the Mr. Toad style gift the Japanese Emperor gave him?

So much history and all of the staff were so kind! My son and I even learned about the archeological dig that was going on thanks to the faculty and students excited to share their work. The pieces inside the house were so intriguing.

Nice visit with original items and furniture. It is a pity that the other buildings of the plantation have been lost

The rumors are true. If you dont visit here you wont receive your superpower from the President when you shake hands at graduation.
