They say you can go on walking tour for free and museum cost $5 ... I stopped in alone to check it out thinking I may bring a child back with me ... The only building I entered was a gift shop and I was explaining that I was not touring I was simply looking at what they had for my next visit...I was about to purchase a $50 purse when the very rude lady told me I had to pay $5 for being on the property...I gave her the $5 and she wanted to give me a admission bracelet I told her again that I was not touring and I was leaving...left and wont be back.... I did stop in the museum on my way out to ask about the free walking tour... they were VERY NICE! VERY NICE and seemed embarrassed by the rude ladies behavior

Yes, this is a must go. People are awesome. We did find out there is a venue for wedding, parties and meetings. Wish there was larger variety stuff for sale. The Teepees didnt have anything but two logs. Wished there were people to speak with in some of the building. Parking was great. Restrooms nice and clean. We will go back for other social events they have a few dates for chilli cooking contest. They have a few reenactments coming soon. See ya there. Was a good museum also. So ya put on walking shoes and bring your pup (on leash at all times and remember to clean up after them) they are dog friendly.

I love 19th century American history and have read quite a bit about the cattle drives as well as the frontier history in Texas. So, Ive wanted to check out this Chisholm Trail Museum for a while. When we got there, we started with the Big Bear Native American Museum on the premises of the Chisholm Trail Museum. With no disrespect to the Chisholm Trail Museum, the Big Bear Museum stole the show for both my wife and I. Ive seen many Native American artifacts and collections and I believe this museum, while being relatively small, is one of the best curated collections Ive ever seen. You just have to experience this place to understand.

This is a great place to wander. The Big Bear museum holds a vast array of memorabilia that is surprising given the small size of the building. Chisholm tail staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Lots to see at this indoor/outdoor museum. Not expensive to visit, $5 for adults, $2 for under 18. $1 discount for groups of 8 or more. They dont take credit cards yet. Really cool collection of Native American stuff inside along with the history and pictures of Native American life and notable people. They have a scavenger hunt for the kids and completing it gets you a prize. A few things for sale and some free info books you can take. There is a real working blacksmith shop in another building. You can watch him work, hell answer any questions you have and has a bunch of awesome stuff for sale at reasonable prices. He can take cards.Very nice restrooms and a bunch of other buildings with old cool things to see from the Chisholm trail.Next to an old jail (which has a lot to see and learn about inside) there is a small little gift shop with mostly Native American stuff. Fair prices. They take cards too.Worth the visit!

We had a lovely time and left feeling like we made new friends. Child friendly but interesting to adults who enjoy history. We went to the museum next door as well, Big Bear. Make sure to pop into the gift shop next to the jail for hand crafted jewelry, leather pouches/ historical reenactment gear, antiques and general junk.

This place is a connection to a time past. In the grand scheme of things it was not so long ago, yet I think it could easily be argued that society has changed more since then than in the 4,000 plus years previous.
