I want to thank Mike for the Veterans Day surprise, with a complimentary round of golf for 4 old vets and our wives. What a wonderful and challenging course. Thank you Mike! Bob, Mitch, Jack, and Richard. + Janet, Nancy, Carolyn, BJ. We appreciate you and you are an asset to the Golf Club at Kingwood. Thank you again!

TLDR- This place is amazing, especially if you have a large dog!My friend and I decided to go on a camping vacation with her 70 lbs. dog. Unfortunately, halfway through our camping trip there was a bad storm and our tents flooded. So at 9 p.m. we were left trying to find an affordable hotel to stay in that allowed big dogs. After calling 5 other places we were losing hope on finding somewhere then we found this place! They were super nice and helped us check in quickly. The balcony had a gorgeous view of the mountains and there was so much to do there! We ended up staying 3 nights. Everyone that worked there was super friendly and the rooms were nice and roomy too. I recommend this place for anyone traveling, especially with a big dog!

The staff was polite, courteous, and very helpful. The grounds were well groomed and quiet as well. The property overall needs quite a bit of renovations though, as the curtain to the balcony was tagged and torn, and the paint was peeling all over it as well. It would have been beneficial to have a microwave as well, since the facility still had no amenities open due to the pandemic (mid-June) and its a fairly decent drive even to the closest restaurant. In spite of these things, I would stay here again without hesitation, and plan on doing so again in the future.

Great resort stay for the price! We stayed in Dec, which is off season for them, but great for us. The property is near Black Rock Mountain and Helen GA, two places we visited on out trip. Kingwood proved to be a great spot. Picturesque and peaceful. Room was nice with a great balcony for morning coffee. Friendly staff and clean well maintained rooms. If you are looking for a nice base camp for local adventures, this is a great choice. Golf course looked beautiful but brown as winter has arrived. While less options in the off season, still a great price, location and staff. Enjoy your stay, we certainly did!!

The employees here were super friendly. The view from the rooms is great. If you golf, you can stay here at night and tee off in the morning. The problem is in the touches. We went for wine tasting and sat with a cobweb that was more than a few days old. The wine was served in a cracked glass. In the hotel room, our AC sounded like an alarm clock going off...not good every hour through the night. When we told the front desk, they just said they would be replacing AC units soon. In dont think Ill go back to see the changes they will be making.

We booked the room for 2 nights for my daughters wedding. The room was $135 a night. When we checked in we were required to pay for the two day stay up front. The room smelled very bad, the paint was peeling, it was dirty and the bathroom shower was covered in mold. The restroom had a half of a roll of toilet paper. We were told it was a staffing issue due to the covid19 crisis. We could only bare to stay one day. The is country club was probably nice at one time but it has not been maintained for quite sometime. They should adjust their price to account for the lack of maintenance. I would never go back. We barely lasted a day.

Pros: open to the public, friendly people, thoughtful staff (AKA Mike), welcoming, clean, quiet, well-kept, scenic, mountain getaway, pricing, golfing, pool & gym access, wifi, pet-friendlyCons: Covid-19 partially closed the amenities, slim cell service (if you want it), couldnt stay longerMy fiance and I are from Charleston, SC which is in the middle of the hussell and bussel. Kingwood gave us the perfect escape. Cell service was in and out, but wifi was provided. However, we appreciated it & took the time to reconnect to each other. We live in the health care and oil management world, which is chaotic & busy during this time. Kingwood provided peaceful tranquility, scenic landscape, with well kept grounds. The rooms were older, but clean, spacious, and comfortable with a easing sound of nature outside the balcony door. Storms rolled through during our course of stay with HD surround sound and panoramic views. The vintage down town Clayton is ten minutes away with reasonably priced and delicious food. Forrests, waterfalls, and beautiful lakes are within 30 minutes away as well. We couldnt have asked for better service and hospitality. Despite COVID, Mike the property manager made our experience an absolutely unforgettable vacation. He cares about his guests, loves his job, and it shows.Wine & cheese tasting is on Fridays and we were fortunate enough to tour the facility seeing what the resort ultimately has to offer to the public. Dinning services, bar access, & spa ammenities with amazing views overlooking the mountains were all available to the guests before COVID19. However, coffee was available with gym and pool access. Golfers, hikers, and anyone looking for a reality get away would appreciate this resort. They were dog friendly and accepted our Ari girl as if she was their own.If youre looking for a place to stay in Georgia where it is quiet, yet near several hiking attractions, Kingwood Country Club and Resort is the place. If youre looking to stay connected with the daily pulse of life, you should probably visit Charleston.

In the middle of the night, we had to relocate, due to Stink Bug infestations, something that, the clerk stated was a known issue at the resort. It was cold, raining and after driving all the way from a Wyndham Resort in North Mertle Beach under the impression that, we would be arriving at a first class resort, this was certainly not what we anticipated. The refrigerator in our room did not work and the restaurant was closed to all, except those partaking in the wedding reception. There was hardly any thing for us to do. The town was small and offered very little choices in restaurants and entertainments.Although the staff were very helpful and polite, we could hardly wait to check out. Breakfast was served at the check-in location. However, we were only made aware during check-out.We did not have a great experience and are not planning on returning anytime soon.

Nice course with picturesque golf holes. Greens and fairways are in good shape. Sand traps, which I may have too much experience, were some of the best for playability. Stayed here with a group of friends for Labor Day weekend. This was our second time staying here. This is a great place in a wonderful area. Beautiful setting! We had dinner at the dining room the first night and the food was good. They were having some problems with service due to the holiday weekend and being short staffed. The manager Mike was more than accommodating. One of the rooms had an issue with bees on the balcony and Mike and his staff made sure that got taken care of. Part of the group wanted to play golf and were blown away with the service they got from John in the golf shop. When we were enjoying the pool Mike made sure we got service at the pool. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included. We did trips into Clayton which was really close. Such a cute town and some great restaurants with great service - Universal Joint, Clarks on Main and Clayton Café - some of our favorites. All in all a great weekend! Love this area and cant say enough good things about Kingwood! Would definitely return. Thanks to all the great staff!

Although staff were all very friendly, the facility needs some further updating and upgrading. The room we had was never very cool overnight due to poor functioning of the very noisy air conditioning unit on the room. The pool area was ideal for kids and adults to enjoy. I am not a golfer but there were no complaints from the golfers I spoke with, except that it was a hilly course and carts are available. The brunch we had on Sunday morning after the wedding we attended, was up to par. Coffee is not a standard drink in many places it seems. Decaf had to be specifically ordered. Plenty of parking available. Nearby town of Clayton features good eating places for a variety of budgets.

And the first room was two queen-size beds when we were supposed to have a king size bed. They did immediately rectify the situation. The second room that they put us in was a king-size bed that appeared to be very clean. But, and I hate that there is a but, there were major issues in this room also. The toilet seat was broken. The toilet had to be plunged after every single use. there were 12 spiders that I killed in 2 days and these were different types of spiders. And the back patio which is off the ground and cement, was leaning at an angle that you could tell was leaning forward and there was a huge crack running from one end to the other where it was separating from the base and the foundation of the facility. although the maintenance man tried to tell me that the crack was normal and that the way the thing Lean forward was normal there was not enough confidence for me to be out on that patio.

Pros- decent views, nice golf course, friendly staff. Cons- mentioned above mostly. This place must have been great when it first opened. What saved our trip was the amazing small town of Clayton thats 2 miles away. Great food! Advice to Kingswood-major room renovations are expensive and Im sure the money isnt there to do it but you can at least clean the windows .A small thing like that goes a long way. You have great views from the rooms and in your restaurant but your windows are filthy. It ruins the view.
