Another of the citys excellent, well-preserved historical homes. Unlike the opulent homes of the citys rich (the Campbell House and Cupples House), while the Hanley family was comfortable and well off by the standards of the day, this was a working farm house. One sees the differences in the level of grandeur, the presence of homey goods, as well as domestic implements. Also very moving is the slave quarter behind the house.
The Hanley House was the perfect location for my wedding! The house and the grounds are perfect and everything was beautiful! Sarah, the Hanley House director, was dressed in period attire which made everything that much more fun and special!
Very historical and interesting house. Docents were great
