A great place to hike with the family. The trails were easy enough for the little kids and still fun for the adults and teenagers. Plus the cave area was a great place to cool off after hiking in the heat! We also saw lots of wildlife...turtles, a crane, and even a mama deer and her 2 fawns!

Great place. I got there after the tour season for the cave, so I didnt get to see inside the cave, but the park is great, especially if you are interested in archeology or native American history. They also have a lot of information from when they were a resort. I would recommend doing the guided tour to get all the information about the site.

Limited views with a stroller / wheelchair. Best to use harness for children. Seeing the actual cave is no problem. There is a paved trail for that. Stroller with assistance works. The park closing hours vary by month.

I am giving this a 5 star based upon reputation. The cave was closed for the season. I will return in the spring or summer next year. The facilities are nice and the trail around the pond is also a very easy if you have either older or very young people in your group. The other trails were closed - not sure if that was seasonal or on a more permanent basis. I saw more wild turtles in this area than I have ever seen in the wild before - it was exciting to see the turtle family sunning themselves.

The day we went was hot and with mask on I couldnt go far. Dunbar cave is small, it becomes so small you have to watch your head and/or bend over to get through, the ground uneven inside the cave. It was a beautiful walk to and from the entrance. Also stairs and area to step over to get inside.

Truly amazing and really somwhat inspiring. Here atDunbar cave and Montgomery County Tennessee a very deep Native American history somewhat of a window into life of Ancient ancestors of ours Was discovered on walls within the cave system and through carrying out digs within the soft cave sediment. Also this extremely large cave system gave somewhat of a window looking into the lifestyle of these ancient people. These peoples having no source of light outside firedid not venture far in. Some cave art along with very decorated members of their Indian tribes were found and studied. These discoveries and more made on the park property and surrounding area gave archeologist much insight into ancient politics, culture, and much more. I highly recommend Dunbar cave state park above and below ground as being worth going to it is awesome for all ages in your family . Even if you have no desire to learn into Native Americans old ways The cave itself is extremely extremely large, very old and absolutely magnificently beautiful. With some of the tallest stalagmites and longest stalactites in state. Im thinking I could go on and on. But hows about Ill stop here and you go visit the state park soak up the beauty and the knowledge of our past

Super friendly staff, special call out for Sydney - one of the passionate, excited tour guide, she knows the place in and out.Well maintained visitor center, clean restrooms, a little bit about the history and the cave geology. The cave tour was roughly an hour and 20 minutes. Cave looks very stunning from outside, very cool amid hot summers, nice platform and breeze outside. The entrance to the cave is locked and controlled by the tour guides. This cave was probably neglected at early age - I have never seen so much of human intervention, too many writings, carvings inside the cave - true loss of its cave originality.Great stories about the place - Missispians and Paleo nomadic people. Great place to visit with your loved ones - took my 4 year old sun who is always super excited to explore things.Lots of hiking trails, cool little man made swan lake - lots and lots of geese and ducks.

Took a short side trip (about 20 mins roundtrip) off the interstate to stretch our legs. You can get a nice 1-3 mile walk on the trails depending on which ones you take. Trails are fairly easy to walk with some tree trunks in the way. Tours and center were closed but could take a peek in the cave. Only disadvantage is the trails need to be marked more clearly - there are side entrances to the trail and they arent marked so we ventured the wrong way a couple of times - but only for a short while until we saw the road.

I love hiking here, I can get in a short hike or a long one depending on the trail and I never get bored with the scenery or sounds. My dogs love it as well. We rarely see more then one or two other people when we go, which enables us to fully enjoy the solitude and nature around us.

They do some very interesting tours inside the cave that are great. They also have some cool hikes and photography classes from time to time. There are no longer fish in the lake which sucks because it was once good fishing. They apparently dont want as many people fishing there as what they once had , or so I was told. I wish they had camping and fishing.

This cave provides trails surrounded by lots of trees nestled amongst lots of homes. The park does provide trails and is also pet friendly. However, the cave itself though interesting, is not much of a cave anymore probably due to people. The cave does get a bad rap from the upsetting murders spanning from Feb. 1997-April of 1997; killing 7 along with later attacks as early as 2014. Sadly, it is not a safe place to be alone.

Cool place to reconnect with nature in the city limits. Short, easy loop trail (about 2 miles). I wouldnt bring super young kids to the actual trails in the woods but there is a small paved loop around the water that many people with young kids were on. It was fairly populated even for a chilly day so Im assuming this place gets very busy in the warmer months. Looking forward to going back next Summer to check out the cave system!

Absolutely amazing cave with historical background. If you have knee problems back or cannot stoop down for a small. Of time I would advise you not to go because parts of the cave bar narrow. You have to walk about a mile and a half. if you have trouble walking you may want to abstain! But to me it was worth every step.

A great place not far from Clarksville. My 1 year old hiked the whole 1 1/2 mile trail. We did push her big wheel stroller down the trail it worked good. The trails are easy for the most part smooth with some tree roots. We saw an elder lady with a cane she was doing really good. Taking her time and being careful. Happy to see her out on the trail! Id say this place isnt very wheel chair friendly. There is a few parts close to the gift shop/restrooms maybe could see the pond. And maybe get down the trail to see the cave opening from the hill ...(definitely use your own judgment there.) I would if I were in a wheelchair but Im not right. There are stairs to get to the cave. I love how they give you free hot cocoa with marshmallows and apple cider. Happy trails!

My personal favorite trail in Clarksville. There are two loops both of which connect in the middle. They are not paved and not made for bikes. The short loop is easy and less than a mile long. The recovery loop is about a mile and a half and has much higher incline with no switch backs. The cave is not always open, but offers a cool area to rest after your run.

Looking for some free, natural fun outdoors? Dunbar Cave State Park is just the place to see nature, go for a hike, or explore a cave. Theyre open from 8am to sunset and have hiking trails for every level of hiker. Since we have little ones with short legs, we opted for the Short Loop Trail thats .7 miles and has a mostly paved surface with limited inclines. While on our hike, we saw ducks, a frog, butterflies, and a doe with her fawn. The kids loved it! If youre looking to get a cave tour (the only way to actually get in the cave), youll need to make a reservation.

Located just outside Clarksville Tennessee the caves were closed but there was still enough outside for me to take a few hundred pictures. The rock formation is unlike any Id ever seen before and I can only imagine the caves going into the earth are even better.Definitely someplace Ill have to visit again in the future even with an 11 hour drive. I saw it in the winter and can admit its likely even hundreds of times more beautiful in the summer months.

We hike here very regularly, mostly on the weekdays. There are a couple trails, one is shorter than the other so you can go for a quick 1 mile loop, or a longer ~2 mile loop. Going earlier in the morning ensures a very peaceful, quiet hike. You’ll likely see deer in the morning, too! Very dog friendly. No charge for entrance to the park. There are cave tours and some parking strictly reserved for those, but still leaves ample parking.
