Super knowledgeable staff, friendly and helpful. Beautiful store to visit and roam the aisles, admiring the epic fish tanks, amazing reptiles, adorable tortoises, cool snakes and lizards, and koi pond. All the equipment you would ever need for your aquarium (saltwater or freshwater) or terrarium. They are having a cancelled reptile show sale this weekend and bringing in additional chameleons from their reputable breeder to accommodate the sale. Family run and you can tell the employees love their jobs. First visited before the pandemic and glad they are still so busy during it. Its a jewel of Citrus Heights and the Sacramento area. Fun place to check out with the kids (if they are well behaved) or for a free date idea.

Very clean tanks, lively fish too with a large selection. They have many aquatic plants and corals. Although the plants didnt look very healthy. They also had many supplies and tanks. A pretty small selection of reptiles but then again this is probably one of the only place in Sacramento that sells them. My only reason for 4 stars is because of the plants. Although besides that, its a great place to visit and the staff are pretty nice.

Drove almost 2 hours just to check out this place and was blown away by their selection, cleanliness, and competitive prices. Their staff were pretty good too! I would rate their customer service at a 7-8 and I say that not because they were bad, but because I was standing around waiting and needing help but they were too busy trying to vacuum some water on the floor rather than to assist me. I believe one of the 3 guys was even one of the owners. I was kinda upset at that especially since I also drove that far and not even one recognized I needed help. Anyway after looking for someone else and getting the assistance I needed, that other guy was really professional and helpful. The other owner at the counter too was really good with his customer service so that made me feel welcomed and appreciated.I don’t mind driving here again, they have a great-huge selection and the place is pretty awesome. They have a great selection of water plants, and their selection of fishes are amazing especially for saltwater fishes. I wish they had more selections of fresh water Angel fishes but aside from that tho, this is the biggest aquarium/reptile store I’ve been too. Overall my almost 2 hour drive was worth it, Thanks to the guy I had to run down for help and the co-owner at the counter their customer service is good. The other owner on the floor needs to pay more attention to customers around needing help, and maybe have his employees take care of the wet floor or just recognize the customers as more important than that wet floor. But anyway aside from that, go check out this place. It’s awesome and although you may need to keep looking for someone for help, when you do get the assistance their very knowledgeable and courteous.

This is a great business. I took my family to see the fishes, reptiles and give them a perspective about a hobby that is enjoyable. The staff here are nice and are willing to educate the new as well as the seasoned on the new products and technology as well as the type of fishes or reptiles in inventory. So if you are ever curious or want your kids off devices or games. Take them here. Get them out and get them interested in a hobby.

Best place to shop for all your aquarium and reptile needs . I remember when they were actually at Denio’s years ago . They had the best selection of fish and reptiles and still do . Pricing is very fair and quality is 5 star. Staff are friendly. Highly Highly recommend Aquarium and Reptile Depot !

I bought a Albino leopard gecko here on July ,11. All i can say is that i am very happy with my purchase. I have named her Noodle. I buy crickets and mealworms here everyday 2 weeks and i feel very welcomed each time. One thing that i think could be fixed is, when i got Noodle i didn’t know her gender. I had to look at her and see what her gender was. It would be helpful to have known a little bit about her. I also don’t know her age. If only i were to be told her gender and her age. Otherwise i totally love this place. I can tell that they keep very good care of the animals. The staff is very kind and ready to help.

I was looking to adopt a red bearded dragon, this is the only reptile store i could find that had them. I especially loved that they get them from local breeders! the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. they allow you to hold an animal, so i was able to pick him out and come back later in the day to bring him home once his enclosure was all set up. so far, hes been the sweetest beardy ive ever had. very healthy and attentive. good prices and selection of feeder insects as well!

I love this place but unfortunately they have been so lax on mask enforcing I cant visit anymore. Every time I go there is at least one and usually more customers without masks and employees who wear masks below the nose, below the chin or dangling off an ear. I have to wear masks 8-12 hours a day for my job so I know its hard but I do it because I care about protecting the people I interact with. Aquarium & Reptile Depot has shown they dont care about protecting their customers or employees and its not worth it for me to risk my health, my familys health or my patients health anymore. Really disappointed, this business has been my go to for months now. But I have to take my business somewhere else

Excellent variety and prices. Wait times for help a tad long sometimes due to being crowded. They manage it fairly by having a que. The staff is knowledgeable. I went in there looking for a specific item thinking it was what I needed and was guided to a much less expensive item that met my needs more fully. They keep the place warm and dark so it can be a little uncomfortable but the reptiles are kept more comfortable. For a dollar you can feed a very friendly a voracious eating tortoise some celery through a tube. As soon as he sees the celery he gets so excited. It is fun, safe and exciting for kids to visit as long as they are respectful and are kept under supervision at all times.

I didnt take any pictures i was too distracted by how cool the place was.Anyway they keep it a dim blue in the main aquarium site, they have small to medium sized fish, turtles, plants and gear for you to start your own aquariums.Check it out its really neat.

My first visit, and I cant believe Id never been here before. I stocked up on shrimp food that I cant get in Reno. Great selection of wood and live plants here. Lots of filters, pumps and accessories. I was hoping theyd have some large aquariums for sale but there really isnt room for large ones on the fish side of the shop. I didnt check out the reptile side. I was waited on quickly. It was fun exploring. Will definitely be back.

Where do I begin. I had recently purchased a reptile from these horrible folk not realizing they were selling malnourished pets. I call and let them know the status of my recently purchased reptilian, since he has since passed away and they refuse to show any remorse or emotion. The manager on the phone even chuckled questioning our knowledge and parenting when it came to our pet. Mind you I’ve had this pet before and it lived a long happy 15 years. If I was able to rate this place negative I would alone just based on the customer service. A shame to have a business like this in our community. Will be sure many are aware of your bad business practices.

Good store really good variety of fish and driftwood they take good care of their reptiles could add a but more clutter to their ball python enclosures to help reduce stress but all around a really good clean store with nice employees

Sometimes when Im in line to get help, other people just walk up and cut in asking questions instead of standing in line like theyre supposed to. They dont say anything to correct them. Not following the rules. Sometimes I feel like Im being ignored. Also they dont give me discounts for always buying love worms.

I came here with my 4 and 2 year old to pick out some fish snails and plants. From getting yelled at by the employees and the lack of anyone wanting to help with questions about the fish. I even noticed one of the guys on the video tried to just say hello and that i recognized him. No time for the customer. I asked 1 guy for help and acted like he did not have time for me and was short and not interested in helping at all. I walked out with no fish and am going to petco. Nice store but definitely did not feel welcome at all.

Terrible reptile care, less than average freshwater fish care and some of the worst customer service I’ve ever had. I’ve been here loads of times to purchase plants and aquarium supplies, most of the time I’m blown away by the vast selection of fish they have! But their reptile care is unforgivable, overcrowded enclosures that are improperly set up and CLEARY malnourished reptiles!!!I’m writing this due to my recent experience purchasing a frog from this place. The frog they sold me was sick, and they refuse to accept that they sold me a sick frog. When I asked what should I do to remedy the illness I was told by every single employee I spoke to, to “just wait”. The employee knowledge is below basic and they’re not helpful or kind people, when I first brought the ill frog back they immediately insinuated that I was the problem and that my enclosure was wrong when I had not even spoke of it or shown it to them yet (it was a perfect enclosure that has had Pac-Man frogs live YEARS in before). The reptile care here is disgusting and the employees are rude and stuck up. There’sMuch much more about this place I could say that’s horrible such as a betta sorority tank where every single betta (that was still alive anyway) had nipped fins and stress lines.

This place is the best!!! I went in for a lid and light for our hermit crabs. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, funny and helpful. I ended up coming home with this beautiful girl too. She was surrendered to them very much needing a diet and proper care. Im glad they saw that we would be a great family to take care of her. We are so excited for her to join our family. If you have any type of terrarium or aquarium this is the place to go. Plus they have a ton of selections of fish, turtles, tortoises and more.

Some of the guys in the fish area are not very custkmer friendly, one in particular, it seems, unless your in his age group. This should be corrected.The owner is very friendly others are friendly and helpful and knowledgeable.

My new favorite fish and supply shop! Friendly staff. Their tank setups are great! Not over crowded, all aquariums are super clean and well maintenanced. Most the Bettas have larger set ups than just cups and they dont keep an outrageous number of them but, the ones they do have are healthy and beautiful. Definitely my new go to even though I live in Elk Grove.

Completely malnourished and sick animals in the reptile department. They provide little to no hide from the heat for the lizards, keep frogs and snakes stacked up in plastic containers, and overcrowd cages. On top of that, the employees are stuck up and rude.

DO NOT BUY FISHES FROM HERE! The fishes will be DEAD by time you get home! Unhealthy fishes and water conditions at this horribly family-run aquarium! Spent $30 on fishes that never survived. Added the ones that did survive the ride home..... only to see them DIE next day! Contaminated my tank and other fishes. Employee that helped get the fishes prob had very DIRTY hands! ONLY explanation since they CLAIM to have healthy fishes and water tanks. Called to talk to manager and was told He is not able to help! Poor service! BAD. UNHEALTHY. DO NOT CONTAMINATE YOUR HEALTHY TANK! Wish I had listened to other comments with same issues! Store needs to shut down! POOREST Service. These brothers need to get it together!

The store is very nice and has a great selection. My low review is for their communication. I have been trying to special order a couple of fish, because I can never catch them when they are on hand at the store. I was told from store staff, that email is best way to communicate. In the last two weeks I have sent emails, made phone calls, sent IG post and DM’s. Have had zero response from the store! This is 100% unacceptable. Prices are much cheaper online and stock is easily available, but I am trying to support local business.

This place was fantastic, the employees were extremely helpful and all items were very well priced compared to other pet stores. We went to pick up super worms for our bearded dragon and got a good deal of 100 for $6.99. The clearance rack was by far my favorite thing in the store, it had two more items I was looking for and was able to get at a better price. Cant wait to come back.

I was just in this last week and bought 3 glass fish. I was super excited to add them to my tank. When the guy was getting them out of the tank one hit the ground “happens often” he said. Well all 3 glass fish died within 3 days. My water is pristine and chems are perfect. This place used to be really clean and fish looked healthy but this time not so much. I’m finding a new Shop to get my fish.

Bought 8 cichlids unfortunately the most expensive one lasted a day i have other cichlids water is fine theres no guarantee on the product just out of my money .

This place is very well laid Out so its easy to get to see all the fish and things. It is also VERY clean when were in about a half an hour to 45 minutes and everytime I look around I saw somebody cleaning something thats really comforting in todays reality.

Did not receive the approximate amount of dubia roaches. On top of that I was charged FULL PRICE for a SALE ITEM. ALWAYS check your receipt before leaving. I only recommend this as a last resort for feeder insects at the very least.

This store has just about everything you need for aquariums, both saltwater and freshwater! The employees are very efficient and kind, and helped with everything I needed. I came here looking for a few plants and some cherry shrimp and came out with exactly what I needed. I had a very good experience and will be coming back the next time I need new aquarium supplies.

Amazing staff!! They immediately greet you as soon as you walk in and ask if you need help. Also, the entire store is absolutely jaw dropping. I love their enclosures for their reptiles. They are very naturalistic and very clean too! Their prices for crickets and mice are very cheap which I love since I buy in bulk for my snakes and lizards. I would recommend coming here for a new pet or if you’re picking up food for your reptiles at home!

This is the coolest aquarium store I have ever been to--what a large and exotic selection they have! I wish I could have looked around more but this store does NOT have very good social distancing policies. There was a sign with a reminder for leaving distance while waiting in line for help at the aquarium area but customers were not following it & the employees were not enforcing it. There was at least 10 people in a ~12 foot long line, so less than a foot or two between people. Many customers did not have masks, including a guy that sneezed within 2 feet of my daughter & me. I left in a hurry. Maybe they need to mark where to stand in line with tape on the floor like most stores. Unfortunately, I will not be going back until the pandemic is over.

I love the A&R Depot! Always an adventure! Most recently I acquire a black shark almost a foot in length!!! My sons eyes and spirit walking in is very similar to going to a theme park or zoo, they light up with joy and amazement!

Needed Dubia roaches, they had them in stock, very helpful, clean, did not smell like some of the other stores.

Tons of selection for freshwater, saltwater, dry good and reptiles/amphibians. The staff is abundant, knowledgeable and always in great spirits.

Absolutely disappointed. I chose you guys over the Serpetarium because you were local and I liked how we are treated. But I ordered 100 super worms “sorry approximately” and between the two 50 containers I get 65worms that’s not approximately. That’s no where near. Then when I call in you tell me you will let your supplier know and that’s it. Really? That’s messed up. I’m never coming here again. And I’m telling everyone not to come here.

Great store, friendly staff. Proper quarantine of all livestock that you buy there is a must, but that can be said for any lfs that sells as much as they do.

Such a fun and cool place! Very helpful staff that didnt sway me to get something that wouldnt work for my tank. They were constantly taking care of the animals and the animals seemed to be in great condition! My kids LOVED it. One thing I do wish, is that there were more kid hight aquarium tanks for them to look at because I was constantly having to pick my toddlers up. But I know that the tanks are for adults to purchase their fish so I totally understand the concept. The reptile area was awesome too! The giant turtle was so cute we ended up getting 1 fish from there to add to our tank and he is beautiful, happy, and healthy! I am planning a tank upgrade this weekend and will for sure be going to Aquarium depot to stock it when the time comes!

I love this store. Everytime I am here the customer service is outstanding as well as their selection (and pricing!). Im always blown away by the beautiful and clean displays. I throughly enjoy buying my supplies and supporting a local family that shares the same love of aquatic creatures.

Staff was super nice and helpful when I was picking out my new snake. Fell in love with the sweetest baby boa. All their reptiles look happy and well cared for and the lil noodle I brought home has bright eyes, is active and curious and everything a baby snake should be. There aren’t any reptile stores in my area so I drove two hours to get here but it was more than worth it. I’ll totally be back.

I absolutely love this place! I got a betta for my birthday and had to look for a bigger tank. This is the only place I could find the tank I wanted locally and they had a heck of a deal! Been in a few more times since then and the place is always busy! Just bought a small school of harlequin rasboras for my betta tank as well as a couple of African dwarf frogs! The staff has always been friendly and super knowledgeable! I will be going back for a 5 gallon tank eventually!

Staff there is very friendly and helpful, we asked a couple questions and received the answers to them quickly and in knowledgeable manner , We went looking for some companion for our goldfish (the orangey) and got one white goldfish and one brown goldfish plus a nice small plant. Our tiburoncin seems happy with his new friends. Well definitely go back to shop at this place in a near future.
