The guides are volunteers, so hate to be critical, but the one we had was unprofessional and seemed like a lot of the snipits of stories were untrue after I researched online. Listened to the other tour guide while walking around the home who seemed to have much more credible stories and professional approach. Its not in a good area and we were also approached by a homeless woman asking for money while we were looking at the front of the home and the historical sign.

The 2 docents were excellent, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. My husband says it was enjoyable.

Cool home if you’re interested in visiting where Harriet Beecher Stowe lived for a good amount of time. She didn’t write Uncle Toms Cabin here but the museum/ wonderful staff does a great job of portraying history of life during that time.

What a gem! Stopped in on a gloomy Saturday afternoon and the gentleman working today literally gave me a personal guided tour! Walked me through the families entire life, relocation to Cincinnati and how this impacted Harriet’s book Uncle Toms Cabin. Although a lot of his commentary was also documented on panels you can read in each room, I found it so kind that the tour was even offered! Definitely recommend for anyone to go, as we have to support the preservation of sites like this!!

The Harriet Beecher Stowe House has an important story to tell about racism, slavery, boundaries, and attitudes. Harriets father was president of a religious school. Students had different responses to slavery and the underground rail road. Guides do an excellent job of explaining. They also show architectural details of the house revealed thru renovation and research.

We were passing through Cincinnati and decided to see a few places while we were there. We arrived after they were closed for the day but we were still able to see and photograph them. It looks like her house has been well preserved. It wasnt in the greatest neighborhood and there were beer cans and bottles in paper bags strewn on the sidewalks. Its unfortunate that the residents dont care more about their city.

Great experience visiting this house on a Saturday morning and learning about its history. The guides were very helpful explaining things to us during the tour.

This is a hidden gem of the area. If you like history and/or literature you should definitely stop by this place.

An amazing historical site that even locals does not realize even exists! The staff is friendly and outgoing. Admission is free. Worth stopping in!
