Very interesting place to visit! Being a computer geek the Cray displays blew me away. The gal minding the museum was a real doll, very attractive a great conversationalist. If I lived in the area I would have asked her out!

Lots of big old Cray computers and smaller bits and pieces of their history. The building is an older office building so some of the computers were stuck in corners so you couldnt walk all the way around them. This is a great place for a nerd (and their family) to stop for an hour or so.

My husband and I stopped in an took the tour today, and we were blown away. The tour guide was so knowledgeable, and engaging. She walked with us and gave us ample time to read about all the displays and answered all of our questions. The conversation flowed so easily, it felt like you were touring with an old friend. We didnt feel rushed or hurried at all. I believed we spend about 2 hours at the museum, but we were having such a good time it felt like mintues. All exhibits were amazing, especially the Cray one. Its almost hard to believe such an unassuming building holds such treasures. The map at the end with the lights was one of my personal favorites. I loved seeing all the old hotspots.Thank you again for letting us take the tour!

Only open Fri-Sat, but if you want to learn about supercomputers, fire pumps, and other local businesses that influenced the Chippewa Valley, good place to go for friends and family. Tour guide was very informative.

Very nice museum with a number of iconic mainframe computers, many by Cray Research. In addition, rooms devoted to local companies that produce corrugated paper packaging and displays, firefighting trucks, Linenkugel beer and others. The docent was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Well worth the stop.

Hidden gem in what I though was an insignificant area. How wrong I could have been. This has some incredible displays including a toy soldier displays to some of the first super computers. It does not seem to have much in funding but yet this is such and incredible museum and testament to the area. It is unfortunate no one has yet to see the greatness in the engine that could. I spent over an hour and half in this building. The part time employee answered all our questions sand gave us so much history of the area. There is also so much more they could do to grow because not all the technology in the valley is represented. If you have a chance see this museum and give generously because it is a free will offering

This place is off the beaten track, and we stumbled across it by accident. We were given the option of a self guided tour or a tour with the gal on duty. We chose the guided tour, and I can honestly say I have never had a tour as enjoyable as this one was. Our guide not only knew the details, but she embellished every thing she spoke about with her personal take on the exhibits. She turned what would have been a 30 minute walk through into a 3 hour journey through the past. 5 stars doesnt even begin to describe the experience.

A small museum that pays tribute to local companies that have been involved in technology. The main display is for Cray Supercomputers, which still operates in this small town. While not the Smithsonian, the staff is very friendly and helpful and willing to take you along for a ride through Chippewa Falls history. Hours are limited so please plan accordingly when you wish to visit. You can easily see the whole place in an hour, or spend all day looking over the Cray stuff. Up to you. Donations are accepted, but the museum is free of charge.
