Wonderful state park. There are BBQ, a lovely swimming area with life guards, clean bathrooms, and beautiful trails. A great rest stop on the way to New Hampshire or Orange, MA. There are plenty of activities to do and only 1 hour from New Haven for a beautiful drive and respite in nature.

Nothing like Autumn in New England, and place is paradise for a shutterbug like me. The colors reflect perfectly upon the water on a crisp October morning.

Ive only visited in the winter months but I really enjoyed the trails and views of the frozen lake and slow flowing creeks.

This is a good option for lots of picnic areas, clean bathrooms, and a big beach.

Its such a perfect place thats local to bring your kids and have a great time. Besides, with the current covid situation, its nowhere near as packed as its been in the years before

Nice, clean park that is easily accessible. Dogs are welcome and they have several trails to walk. There is even areas for picnicking and a pavilion that can be rented out. Plenty of space to play yard games as well. Lots of places to take great photos.

Awesome place to go Trout fishing in early spring. Also fishing almost year round. Lots of nice trails for walking, hiking, and running. Also has some really fun bike trails throughout. Which can be fun for all levels of biking experience. Really nice place for cookouts, and family gatherings. Usually very well maintained, lots of parking, and access from main gate, as well as from outside of the park. Drive in, or walk in. Free to enter driving from Labor Day, to memorial day. Gates are closed in the winter season usually, but theres always access on foot. This place has just about everything, even wild life that can be seen in various places throughout. Deer mostly... There is a few to drive in from Memorial Day-Labor Day. Perfect place to walk your dog, get some exercise, and just be in Nature. One last bonus, the park is right next to Westover AFB. If you go during the airshow, you will get quite a treat!(Free) Hope this was helpful, and enjoy!

A five minute walk through the wood on a well trod path leads to the inner entrance to the park. The park isnt yet open for the season, so this really is a prime access route. Once to the parking area, there are choices to be made as to which paths, some paved, to follow. All seem to end up at the lake which is actually a reservoir. The extensive beach and numerous paths are well maintained and pleasant. The bathhouse, though not open yet, looked reasonable. The posted prices are high for out-of-state folks, but seem reasonable for in-state.

Went fishing with my brother this morning and someone was playing their radio so loud it was awful and the people who take care of the park didn’t care about the rest of the people they did nothing it’s sad

Fishing is amazing walks are great Ill just never go in the water ticks have been out lately and theres a huge green snake over by that small lodge where they release the fishes at its ridiculous I almost was bit the other week

I was a little confused and thought the park entrance fee was for today as well, so I rummaged through my wallet and off we went (it seems it is only Memorial Day through Labor Day when people can SWIM in the reservoir). The boy and I had a nice walk for just under an hour, passed several runners (well, they passed us) and a bicyclist at 8:15 am, plus a few people with their dogs (keep them on the leash everyone.... and pickup after your fluffiest friends). There are picnic areas, a beach area (looks nice) and even one brave soul who was swimming in this mornings 60 degree temp (but the water could still be warm after the hot summer). There are bathrooms (did not go in, but just across from the swimming area) and 562 acres for you to roam through. Happy we found this, never realized I was passing it zooming by on the Mass Pike all these years.

A nice, quiet place to bring the kids or the dog and just walk and enjoy the day. Great place for swimming as well. They so need better life guards .. I was there in August and a older man fell in and couldnt get back up, they just stood there staring at him, another swimmer helped him to his feet.

In the winter the drive in is closed but you can walk in the spring and summer drive in openFor a price but ok fishing low flying planes but a nice peaceful place.

On a coolish, but sunny April Sunday afternoon, there were still people enjoying this great place despite in not yet being open for the season.Great place to have a cook out and spend quality time with family and friends. Safe for kids and families!

If I could give no stars I would. I brought my kids swimming here and as soon as we got here the life guards called out of water because of some thunder which i understand. We have been here for 2 hours no more thunder and they wont let anyone back in the water! Super disappointed. I give this place 2 thimbs down and wont be coming back.

The fee to get in is $8. The beach is clean the water is warm what else do you need.!!! Oh and out door grills to cook on

Its a great place to throw a party. They provide BBQ grills picnic tables, there is swimming and hiking. The only thing I dont like is that you cant bring a non motored boat like a kayak.

Great place for family gatherings. We stayed by the big pond and the closed-off sandy area with our picnic basket. Lifeguards were watching out for swimmers. There was fishing, too. Hiking trails were moderate to easy and fun for the most part.

Youd never know you were right around the corner from the highway. Although planes flying overhead remind you there is an airport nearby. I have walked and hiked here many times. Really enjoy it!

Beautiful, quiet, perfect place for families. Playground for smaller children as well as bigger kids. Soccer fields are where we are most weekends and frequent week nights too. Love walking the path around for fitness

This is one of my favorite places to bring the family, even my dog! As long as I had them on a leash it was fine to have them running around and that was my favorite part of it. Theres also places where I can let my dogs swim and for us that was what we really loved about it.

I love the the lake but the deepest part of the swimming area is about 4.5 ft deep

Nice clean facility...only issue with our visit was the over the top patrol visits by park staff in John Deere off road vehicles.Tried to take a nap...they came by every 15 minutes!...Way too frequently for my liking.

I just recently moved to chicopee and my step daughters came all the way from Pennsylvania so I figured we should go have some fun with the fam in our new town so we took a lyft to meet up with family and friends so we didnt have to walk on a 90 degree 4th of july day. We live 10 mins away. This was 11:30 am we got to the parking lot bit it was full but We didnt have to park. We got droped off to meet up with family already inside and they would have brought us back after but some guy stoped us at the gate flaged down the lyft driver as he was driving away and made him bring us back home. No drop offs Only walk ins are welcome. Go away ....Are other family and friends inside also left so the girls didnt have to spend the 4th alone. we got charged 20$ for the lyft. When it should of been a 9$ ride and the lyft driver could of said hey i was to bring you one way only i have other rides. Thank god he didnt !!! I will Never again will go to chiopee state park. Ruined are first chicopee 4th of july.

Nice park but very limited hours and really should have a small parking area outside of gate like many state parks do. Not open many holidays on off season, check internet for hours before driving over 7pm only to find locked gates. Used to be able to park at Deegans and Wall St Journal but all fenced. Everytime I drive over with dogs I end up wondering where our tax dollars go. But it is a very nice park with nice trails.

Good when its not invaded by trash. VERY busy on all summer days, especially holidays. Dirty people, dirty beaches, would not swim here but do go walking only after it is closed.

Ok to bring your dog to. We have a puo that is a reactive rover. Would not suggest unless your dog is really friendly
