Though they’re definitely not as popular with little ones as they were in decades past, yo-yos hold a special place in the hearts of lovers of vintage toys. The National Yo-Yo Museum is located on Broadway Street in downtown Chico. According to locals, it features one of the most impressive collections of historic toys in the region.Guests will learn about the iconic toy’s history, see a dizzying array of examples of all shapes and sizes, and gaze upon a massive 200+ pound specimen that’s one of the world’s largest. The museum hosts an annual yo-yo contest and other fun events throughout the year, and it’s open to the public nearly every day.

I took my 6 year old for his birthday he wanted a yo-yo so I wanted to do it the right way and Mikey the most amazing person ever was so great with both my boys he made sure it was the right yo-yo for him even cut the string to his size which I had no idea was a thing they even have lessons every Saturday. If I had time I would tell about the rest of the store but this is the best store if you need pretty much anything that was or is a toy for all the older folks i guess kids say Im older folks now they have the finger string game. Hahaha Thank you Mikey we will be back again soon!

The National Yo-Yo Museum is attached to the cutest little store. I not only did see the largest working Yo-Yo, I also was entertained by walls full of family games, puzzles and knickknacks. The staff are knowledgeable and all have lovely personalities. Will stop by again when visiting Chico to try more of the trial games they offer and continue to support the dying art of Yo-Yos.

The museum has the largest public display of trophies, photos, and yo-yos from the 1920’s. Located inside the retail store Bird in Hand, 320 Broadway Street, downtown historic Chico, the museum is free to tour and home to the largest yo-yo at 50 inches tall and 256 lbs. Big-Yo made it into the 1982 Guinness Book of World Records claiming the title of ‘World’s Biggest Working Wooden Yo-Yo’.

The National Yo-Yo Museum is located inside the Bird and Hand store in downtown Chico. The museum is located in the back space of the store. And while it does not take up much space, it has a wealth of information and large display of thousands of yo-yos. Staff from the Bird and Hand are knowledgeable - and some are able to demonstrate their skills with the yo-yos. Fun for kids of all ages, including old kids like me lol. Only cost to visit is your time

Small but fun. It has a real personal touch, with lots of local perspective, individuals and teams whove competed at an international level. Really brings home the message: Chico is a yoyo town. And the giant wooden yoyo aint bad either.

This is just a little corner of a store, with a few shelves of yo yos. There is a massive 250 lbs yo yo, but it is just sitting there. It would be a lot cooler if it was somehow suspended and you could see it actually work. I would never pay to go see this, so its a good thing its free. If you have absolutely nothing to do and you are in downtown Chico, than you might want to see it, but I wouldnt go out of your way to come to the museum.

Fun little place. The Yoyo Museum is just part, the store attached is just as much fun. The staff is knowledgeable and really really nice. I literally spent almost 2 hours there before an appointment. Just looking at and playing with the toys. They offered to hang onto my basket of goodie until I was done. Above and beyond the norm.

So COOL! To start off it was a little bit hard to find, the yo yo museum is located inside another store when you arrive,it will say you have arrived and you will just see a shop if you go in there is the yo yo muesuem in the back. Or you can park on the street and walk down a nicer walking ally from across the street to the actual front door. The worlds largest yo yo was our attraction to see, and it was great so cool to see in person! But the reason I am here to write this review is to for the great staff! We all are bad at using a yo yo and really had not tried in years. One of the employees there showed us amazing tricks like I had only seen on TV aswell as teaching us the basic maneuvers and where to learn more. He recommended us beginners yo yos and how to use those specifically with in store demos. All in all he was the star their and taught us so much I have now gotten much better at using a yo yo and can do a couple tricks as well thanks so much. Enjoy!

The people working where this older guy and his granddaughter. I never thought I would meet a yo-yo snob. They where extremely irritated that I did not know what I was doing when I was trying to learn how to use a yo-yo. ........apparently it is not just throw it and it comes back, there is a lot more too it. After about 5 minutes of me trying to learn they handed me a yo-yo for people that dont know what they are doing and walked away from me.
