Great place to take family and still be Social Distant. Please have Fishing license on hand! They will check! The fishing is fun with many spots to catch, great spots to picnic, perfect to take kids to the water to learn and practice fishing if you want and theres even a few Playground areas for the kids to just be kids. Be sure to clean up any trash you may have when youre visiting! Other than that,Great place to locally explore!

Its conveniently located between Illinois and Indiana and is a fishermans dream... have been offered fish from fishermen on several occasions because they had a great haul that day. Plenty of areas to be alone and meditate.

Nice, clean, calm environment to explore Nature and all it has to offer. Including fishing, and a peek at deers and other wildlife. Came out for some soothing water sounds, but Ill be back next weekend for some fishing before it gets cold.

Hidden gem regarding open green space. Roads could use some work in spots with large depressions. Toilet facilities are usable but smell is terrible.

Fishing for those who fish, beautiful lake, and quite if you just want to chill. I think its a little quieter than the Indiana side..

Have been going here for over 65 years. Much has changed in that little time as the stories my grandfather told me about when he was a young man going mushroom hunting and his brothers lost weekends on Wolf lake kept me entairned for hpurs...

This is a little gem hidden, full of wildlife and very nice scenery. The small lake is a plus. Whether you walk or drive, it is a pleasure to visit this forest preserve.

Perfect to relax your mind good meditation and beautiful view nature

I like visiting the state park because its an urban sanctuary within an urban environment within what nature has to offer. The biggest drawback is the park surrounded by all of that industrial activity on the far southeast side of Chicago and northwest Indiana, particularly Hammond and Whiting. The site used to be a missile factory before it was demolished almost 50 years ago. However, its a great place to clear mind while your walking around, hunting and fishing on Wolf Lake. It opens until it gets dark 7 days a week. This is one of the nature parks in the city on any government-owned level, you should get out of our comfort zones if you appreciate nature more.

We love this place so much. The serenity is absolutely just flourishing here. You can bring your boat, your bike, your fishing poles and more. There are walking paths in the woods...it so much fun. Were having a camp out picnic in a fews weeks. We love to take our grandson just so he can see nature. Hes only 8 months. Take your children to run around and see all the Canadian Geese.

Park should be stocked with fish of all species of fish bring park back with all the fun days of family gatherings,fishing,boat rentals from back in the days.also consession stand with food bait ,Ect

I cant say a whole lot just yet about this park and the lake, as this evening was my first visit.What I can say is this: the place is spotless, literally. Like as in not a single piece of any kind of trash anywhere in sight, which knowing the unfortunate way many people are, says a lot for the staff. Whomever is responsible for taking care of the grounds does an absolutely fantastic job!The lake itself is gorgeous, with water as clear as what comes out of your faucet.It appears to be full of fish. In 30 minutes time I missed 2 fish that I assume were large mouth bass, and caught (then released) a nice healthy 2lb large mouth. All 3 strikes came on a white chatter bait.The only negative, which Im sure has more to do with me being unfamiliar with the area than anything else, is there appeared to be no way into the park via car.I assume it closes, which is cool, as the local authorities certainly have the right to maintain whatever hours they want, but I arrived right around 6:30pm and all the entrances I found were already closed.I ended up parking in front of one of the closed gates, grabbed my pole, and walked in.Its a short walk to the lake and there are lots of good spots along the bank which are totally accessible.Im in town for a few days and if my work schedule allows, Ill try to get there earlier and update this if I develope any additional information thats post worthy.Bottom line: nice place, really clean, beautiful clear water lake with what appears to be an abundant large mouth bass population. Bring a white chatter bait and get there before they close the gates.

This park is a lot more unknown than I think I thought. It has a beautiful view of the lake, which is best seen when driving through the long strip of road in the center. This is a great option to have a picnic or explore nature. Dont expect this park to be full of people too often, which I would say is a good thing.

There are outhouses that were open in early afternoon but locked in early evening when we returned to fish.

This is a great place to come and walk around or to bring the children to play and fish.

Its large but the fishing was not that good. This place is best for those who have a Boat. You will catch nothing but little Blue Gill, Small Mouth Bass, and Perch, if you Gish on the Bank.

Very nice state park. Obstructions in water need to be cleared, along with seaweed, potholes need fixed, and the toilets need to be destroyed and rethought how to do it.

I have fished this beautiful lake for 27 years but been absent for 4 years after a accident. Recently i have returned to see that management has done nothing to bring this lake to how it was. Its good that there is a place to recycle plastic but the poor maintenance has to stop.

Rainy day but they have shelters. So it still made for a good day.

The lake is vast and has abundant fish species but certain areas need attention as far as the wooded sides of the lake. There is too much wood fall to navigate when youre trying to reach that sweet spot on land.

Fishing at Wolf Lake was very poor. Lots of fishermen and extremely small fish. Overall bad year for fishing.

Convient fishing close to home. High waters covered parts of the road.

Could use better updated signs for park rules and rangers that patrol the park could be a little less smug when interacting with the public

I love running on the off trails of it, by far one of the best parks , in the city. Well maintained, nice to observe wildlife and to do some fishing. Also great for bike riding.

A lot of great trails to hike and bike around. A great place to fish but get your fishing license because the rangers will ask you to show it. A lot of canadian geese hang out here.

Nice area for fishing, bbqing, exercise, and enjoying nature. Buy your fishing license, keep your speed at the limit and your seat belt on, Conservation Police doesnt play around there. You can make picnic reservations online, alcohol prohibited.

Nice place for fishing, make sure to leave before 5pm, the forest preserve people there are ticket happy.

Horrible, full of all kinds of animal poop, not taken care of, and smells horrible. Do not come here unless you like to be disappointed.
