My family and I went this past Saturday for Boo fest! My children had so much fun, they really enjoy the exhibits. They trick or treat throughout the museum for non edible treats. Surprisingly it wasnt too crowded. We took our own snacks and picnic outside the museum tables. The cafeteria was close. Just make sure to take snacks and be prepared to walk alot. Overall, a great museum and beautiful exhibits!

First time visiting and I loved it despite missing out on some activities like the U-505 on board submarine tour and learning labs because of covid. I tried the VR transporter, saw the Canada’s great bear rainforest in the dome theater sigh! Such an amazing experience and who doesn’t love Ryan Reynolds voice lol. The flight and motion simulators you have to try too. The Christmas around the world and holiday of lights display is a sight.

So much to do and see! One of the best museums in the city. The new covid measures seemed very thought out and well executed. Time to entry made it very easy for social distancing.

Wow what a amazing place . Unfortunately because of the pandemic many on the hands on experiences and exhibitions where closed .If your planning on visiting bring something to eat. They have a cafeteira but its closed . They do provide vending machine s with candy and chips and cookies that will cost you $3 for a Snickers bar..but theres so much to see that you will get hungry . Well have to come back to enjoy the full experience of the museum . We had to leave early because we where starving.

This place was awesome! So many science demonstrations and historical exhibitions. Geared towards kids but fun for adults. Allot of the science demonstrations were interact able which provided a great tactile leaving experience.What I didnt expect is a giant submarine hiding in the basement. Apparently the only fully captured u-boat, this thing has so much to see and learn. It was so cool to take the guided tour especially when allot of boost tours are done by audio only now.

Went for their recent Halloween festivities. No candy for the kids, but they did a pumpkin drop, slid trinkets down tubes for the kids, had a small section of scary older exhibits, and put up skeletons all over. My kids especially enjoyed the skeletons in the ship exhibit and the farm. Unfortunately, a lot of interactive exhibits are closed due to COVID. But we still had a good trip!

It was nice and well spent visit! Visited with the family and we had a nice time. Its a great place to bring kids and have them explore around. My favorite parts were the Submarine and the space exhibit. Cant wait for some of the exhibits to open up again due to our current environment. Overall it was a fun time!

Great place not too many interactive things still open but expected that because of corona :(.... did the vr ride to the moon and it was for sure worth the 30 it was for three of us. Would be way better without all the restrictions but not much they could do. Id say go if anything to support this place for trying to keep open a fun family museum in the midst of worldwide pandemic.

I have been going here since I was a kid. It is wonderful to bring my own kids here now and watch them experience the same wonder and awe I had growing up. The submarine is even bigger than I remembered, and the display is really incredible. The displays in the museum are curated really really well. The road is friendly and knowledgeable, and they were happy to answer all our questions. The kids especially loved the space center. Thank you Museum Staff for another successful family trip!

I was at this place 7 years ago and it was very good place. Now because of covid everything changed....this is the reson i give 4 stars. It is not the same...

I am here to warn other visitors who plan to visit the museum. For over 5 years, my family and I have frequented, until we became members, this museum. An absolutely wonderful place both pre and during pandemic. At my last visit (2 weeks ago), my kid and I got harassed by a security guard at the museum. He used misogynistic slurs towards me, yelled, screamed, and stared down. All of this in front of my child. He was traumatized.I contacted the museum after I left. Had conversations with a few of people who work here. They seemed to take the issue to heart. I learned that the museum hires an outside security company so the security department isn’t the museum’s direct employees. And I learned that my complaint wasn’t the first. After a week, I got a call saying that the investigation was concluded but nothing can be revealed. So I have no idea what was done. No transparency whatsoever. My main concern is if the situation like this is going to repeat itself. The bottom line is I received no assurance.If you visit the museum and encounter this kind of experience. Please report to the museum. Perhaps things will get better if many do.

Great social distancing! You cant make some of the exhibits but you there is plenty to see. Great family outing! The gift shop is open, restaurants are closed, so eat before you go.

The most amazing experience of 2020 for me was visiting this museum! My best friend and I were there from noon to close and were so sad that we had to leave. Even though a few of their interactive exhibits were closed due to covid-19, there were more than enough engaging and stimulating exhibits for us to enjoy. We have already planned a trip back next year :)

Train, planes, submarines & A Coal Mine... oh, my? LoL so many amazing and larger than life exhibits await. I can’t wait to see they will do next at MSI it’s always evolving. Limited free days book tickets and play areas, add ons online as to save time and your spot as they fill up fast for the idea factory play area. I doubt it’s open in a pandemic but on a regular trip be advised. Food options are onsite but you can pack a sack lunch and go, limited free or metered parking onsite or garage parking at $24 starting. Takes half a day and can drop off out front strollers not so easy, if you can carry. Pretty pricey if your traveling look for a coupon or multi-pass pack.

MSI is a great museum to visit in Chicago. It is quite large and has many exhibits. There are points of interest for the young and old. Some exhibits are closed due to COVID-19, but there is still plenty to experience. The sheer size of the building is impressive. There is plenty of space to social distance, masks are required and hand sanitizer is available.

While supposed to be informative for kids, adults will find it a great way to spend the day as well. Interactive parts adds a 3rd dimension to the experience. More to see and do than 1 might think.Nicely laid out, easy to walk around and a lot see and take in. Overall, worth the price of admission and extra for the other things to do.

Amazing place to go and learn through play! It has lots to offer for the younger children and stuff for the older children and adults too! I have to recommend checking out the U-505 as it is a super cool experience!

We came from Ohio to see the museum. It didnt disappoint. We had so much fun! My favorite parts were the fairy castle and mirror maze. They are both beautiful. My husband loved the Space VR ride, the submarine area, the model train and large train. There is so much to do.

Went with the family yesterday for the free admission and that was great. But most of the touch and interactive sections are closed. Coal mine, submarine and train your are closed along with the food court and the genetics and hatchery also. The movie in the dome theater is open but not free. Overall not bad for being free butt ashame. Most of it was closed off.

Awesome museum BUT why are they charging full price right now when pretty much everything that is interactive is closed off due to COVID-19?! Also parking is $22 FYI which is ridiculous. Park on the street its FREE.

So much to do, and so many unique things to see. Takes an entire day to explore only half of the Museums features, and the new experiences youll find are endless. So much unique technology and things to see, as well as other interactive things. 15/10 in my book.

Awesome museum. Wish we had more time to spend there, but to be in a building that was there during the 1893 Worlds Fair was just amazing. We were able to make it to see the sub, the space exhibit, the trains, and the science wing before we had to start heading back to the airport. So much under the roof of this building it does require multiple trips. A good tip if they are busy, buy your tickets off their website. We were able to by-pass the lines at the sales counter doing that. We have a full review of this museum on our website and YouTube channel.

I wouldnt want to die, before I see this museum. Really one of the coolest places Ive seen in my lifetime. Just a super nice experience. Chicago has some of the best museums in the world!

Came with very little time to spare which was incredibly unfortunate. Even with COVID-19-restrictions leaving many attractions partially or fully closed, the experience was amazing. The building and the attractions are some of the coolest I believe Ive ever seen. My favorite attraction was probably the create-a-tornado experience.

Been coming here for almost 3 decades now and it never disappoints. Very happy to be able to share this experience with the next generation.Exhibits were in good condition and all fully functional. Variety of exhibits is excellent - space, the body, coal mine, farming, etc etc - something for everyone. Our 3 year old loved all of the interactive exhibits as well.

Definitely a must-see if youre living or visiting Chicago. There is plenty to do for kids and adults, alike.I wouldnt say things were really hindered by CoVID at all. There were still plenty of people and things to do. However, some exhibits are closed that may increase the spread like experiencing tornado winds.

Very interesting displays at the museum. First time visiting during a blistering snow storm The staff were very accommodating even though the museum was being closed early as were schools and many other institutions due the unpredictable weather.Thoroughly enjoyed my short visit.very informative. Looking forward to being back some time.

This is a great museum to visit with family. So much to see and to do. Went during a time that many exhibits are still closed due to COVID-19 but it was still very worth it. We learned numerous things that we didnt know and were very entertained by the activities that were still open. Didnt get a chance to do the mirrors but did the VR experience which was a bit short but was still fun.

Very cool hands on museum with tons of exhibits that are unique, and extremely engaging. They have so many different topics too.

So much fun! You take your own pictures, can rent a tripod. The staff is really helpful if you ask them to take a pic, guide you for cool poses, and best angles. Shutout to photographer David that helped us get awesome pics and we bought the magnets after.

The staff was so friendly and helpful! Try it post COVID. Many of the exhibits were closed. In normal circumstances this is a place of wonder and fun. Now, not so much. Were going again in Spring of 2021. Hope it will be back to normal.

What am amazing museum! I feel like you need two visits to really see it all. The German U-Boat is something I think every visitor should check out. You also get the benefit of seeing where the Worlds Fair was held. Walking around outside is just as cool as walking around inside. Knocked off one star because the price of parking is absurd.

It was pretty good. I missed going. I loved wandering the halls looking at the exhibits. Yes, a lot of the exhibits are closed completely or not operating but it was still nice. We were one of the first people in the museum and I was thankful for that. After a couple hours, it became crowded, kids were running around with no parental supervision and it was very uncomfortable with no social distancing being observed by other patrons. We left well before noon.

One of the best science museums Ive visited. Full size aircraft, a german submarine inside, exhibitions on fire, lightening, mining, and so much more. Wow.Perhaps the only knock is that some of the displays are exactly the same as they were when I visited twenty years ago as a child. Still magical, but rising becoming outdated.

So much to see!!! I love that they have their own parking garage attached to the museum so you dont have to walk outside between the two. All the exhibits were really cool but since they close at 4 some things close at 3 or 3:30 so be aware. Definitely will be going again to see what we didnt get to!

What a fun museum! I went looking for phones and there were remarkably few, given Chicagos history in the phone industry. I still had a blast and would suggest to everyone that they visit the U-Boat exhibit. This is a fascinating piece of American history that I knew nothing about. Even the general admission ticket is well worth the price given the size of the museum. Most of the exhibits are geared towards children but there is more than enough to occupy me, an adult on my own, for four hours, and I only went to one extra exhibit.The base price doesnt include any of the extra exhibits but you can buy the tickets for those at the entrances if they pique your curiousity. This museum has excellent value for the money.

Through the years I have periodically visited the MSI, always drawn to and fascinated by the science.However, COVID has temporarily removed the tactile engagement that makes the museum and, far worse, the staleness of the exhibits has permanently killed the experience.For example, the submarine is a big draw and when I was there as a kid, we could climb into it (50 years ago). At that time, the submarine was fresh and amazing to consider. Its still interesting but now there should be some discussion and comparison to the modern nuclear-powered submarines plus some thought-provoking content about what the future might hold.The race cars showed aluminum-bodied machines and not modern carbon-fiber monocoque design. Invest some effort to talk about how that translates to consumer technology and how are they designed for safety, etc.With the speed of technology development the exhibits are no longer forward-thinking. Theyre stale. Its nothing more than a history of technology museum that largely stops about two decades ago. The experience should be engaging to blow kids (and adults) minds. MSI needs a massive influx of corporate sponsorship within the respective industries. CRISPR. SpaceX. Machine learning (aka AI).I have always been fascinated by the STEM disciplines and much of it was due to experiences like witnessing the space program and MSI. Today, an average, curious kid will know far more by exploring Wikipedia or buying an Arduino/Raspberry PI kit.I really hope that they can turn around this experience.

Great exhibits here. We loved the weather exhibit the most. So much to explore. The wearable technology exhibit was also really cool. The inventions to help life be better were amazing. The staff is really friendly, many stopping is to see if we wanted to try out something or to see if we needed help. We had plenty of time to see everything we wanted to as well. I would visit here again.

We had a great time at the museum! The Fun Factory is great for younger kids, I recommend getting tickets for as early as possible. My 9 year old loved the Science Theater. All of them also really loved the farm area and Fairy Castle. There is a lot to do so plan on taking some time. Also the dinning areas get full fast so be prepared to go early or wait until the main rush is over.

Best museum I have ever visited and I grew up in DC with the Smithsonian and endless quality museums. Will come back to Chicago so I can spend a full day or even two! Sad that the sub is closed but understandable given covid

Very good museum for children 7 and older and adults. My personal favorite was the 505 submarine. The only issue about visiting right now is I would say at least 50% of the features are not accessible due to covid restrictions because of touching surfaces which is unfortunate for paying full price. parking is $22 which is ridiculous.

I wish museums were open 24/7 instead of wal-mart I feel like I could have spent an entire week in here.

The biggest science industry museum Ive ever been. I think it has 4 levels with many exhibits on each level. So lucky that I went here for free (on Monday!). Every exhibit is so interesting and you can really try something to learn how things are. As an outer space fan, I really loved the NASA exhibit. Perfect place to bring kids to learn many new stuff cause learning by doing is always better.

Museums like this should be mandatory in every city. Particularly the Chicago MSI is a paradise of knowledge and learning for children and adults. Its interactivity helps everyone to understand science and its technological application.

One of the perks of living in Chicago was that on select days throughout the year, Illinois residents with a valid ID receive free admission. It may be insanely busy these days, though. This place has many different stories and many different exhibits. The management did pretty good work as the visitors could buy the tickets online, printed them out, and pass through the designated entrance for online customers to avoid the long waiting line. Everything inside was incredible and extraordinary. The boat floor, the real U-boat, and the small Chicago exhibits were all fantastic. Every subject matter was covered in this museum it was phenomenal. There are so many free street parking nearby in the weekend which only take less than 15 minutes walking to the museum. Best places for families with kids to have fun and learn about everything.

This is a extremely charming museum. I have been going here since I was a small child, and I must say that this museum is top-notch. It never gets old, whenever I visit. I do have to mention that it is getting a little bit run-down and unreliable, but I love this place so much that it doesnt even bother me anymore. Exhibits such as the world war two submarine and the coal mine take my breath away. And there is plenty more to see and do on top of that, enough to fill up a day full of exploration and adventure. It is not insanely expensive like many other Chicago museums, and it is relatively clean. For what you are getting, the price is certainly worth paying. The membership perks are also better than any other museum my family belongs to. They provide quality holiday parties with activities for the whole family to enjoy, among many other awesome perks. Overall, I whole-heartedly recommend this museum. It will truly be a once in a lifetime experience.

Amazing place, must visit museum in Chicago. Has limited parking space. Exhibits include historic modes of transportation and all sort of scientific inventions. A giant area of models of trains is awesome. Area with live exhibits of tornado is worth seeing also.Do go early in the morning it is an great and amazingly large museum.

Staff were constantly wiping down hand rails, hand sanitizer stations were available upon entry, exit, and throughout museum, and labels were placed throughout museum concerning 6 feet social distancing. Many hands on exhibits are closed off due to COVID, however theres still alot to view and learn. Mirror maze is open & tickets are required with pre registration

This is a nice and interactive museum! There are multiple floors, if you are going to read and try every single interaction, then you probably need more than 6 hours!! The bathrooms aren’t super clean. I also got to dissect a cow eye!!

Very well done! Our kids were a little young for it (5, 3, 1) but there were still things they could do there. It was awesome learning about how the different countries celebrate Christmas and decorate trees! It was very crowded, there were a ton of school and daycare groups there. The gift shop was phenomenal! We wanted so many things!

The fact that there are fewer people, gave you the opportunity to take your time at the exhibits. Much of the access to many of the hands on displays were cordoned off. However, everyone was given a stylist in order to operate those exhibits that were still accessible. Very enjoyable. Dont forget to make reservations and purchase your ticket in advance.

Many exhibits you could interact with are closed. So is the food court. But, the experience was enjoyable and worth going if you enjoy anything scientific.

The museum is all new on the inside. It was Absolutely Amazing! Its not the Museum I remember as a kid anymore. There is alot cool new displays!

Went to this amazing place today! My second time here but last time I went was 5years ago. This place never ceases to amaze me! All the hands on experiments that help you learn how things work!With the storm exhibit I love the wave one! It really shows how waves work and tsunamis occur. Super simple set up but so impressive!We also did the coal mine tour which was so cool! They take you through a real life experience on the day of a mine worker and the equipment they used and actually turn machines on for you. Super informative and fun enough to where kids and adults enjoy it all the same!The submarine tour was my personal favorite though with detailed story telling on how we acquired it and what went on inside of it and how everything works, accompanied with sound effects and the real life setup! Absolutely impressive and fun!Love this place! Would recommend for anyone at any age!

One of my favorite museums to visit. I have been visiting some of the exhibits for decades and kids love it. Currently there is an exhibit of Christmas trees.The section on natural disasters and how they happen are amazing. Flight simulator are worth experiencing especially 360 deg version.Only thing I will hope they will revise is that farming should go through a major upgrade.

U-Boat is a must see 5*. Could have spent hours just at this exhibit. Space exhibit 3*, Train exhibit 5*, Airplanes 4*, coal mine 3*, weather 3*, human body 3*. Hard to see everything in one day. Over stimulating. Lots of kids running around with school field trips and families. We will be back!

The Museum inspired so many great questions from my young daughters. Thank you MSI for filling up our curiosity tanks for at least the next month.

This is a must visit place in Chicago. A wise advice : don’t visit this one first . Finish all other museums and then visit museum of science and industry or else you won’t enjoy the other ones much after seeing this.. the map of museum is brilliant taking from one experience to another one. Each attraction is amazing of its own kind. Science, aircrafts , ships, chemistry, baby life cycle and many more.. plan to spend at least three hours so that you can enjoy everything. Forgot to mention , children will enjoy in the first floor coz it is more children focused one along with other floors

Best place to take kids to introduce them to a variety of subjects and explore their interests. The subjects vary from submarines to spaceships and beyond. Youll need a full day to explore the whole museum. Must sees- submarine and the simulator.

Amazing! Set in an incredible building which is an exhibit in its own right, the MSI has so many amazing exhibits inside to experience! Definitely check it out if you can!!!

Incredible place! Awesome to bring children, to go with friends, lover or alone! It doesnt matter your age or company, you surely are going to enjoy it!! Have in mind that some attractions are restricted if you havent paid in advance (at the entrance, when buying tickets), but mostly you can pay on site. The museum, anyway, is worthy even if you pay the basic entrance!! Also, go with time if you really want to enjoy and understand what you are seeing, be it a storm, a jet engine or the human body.

One of the best of the city museums. Lots of hands on activities, movies to watch, classic exhibits like the coal mine as well as revamped classics like the U boat. The kids will love it and so will you!

Highly recommend! An amazingly interactive museum! Great for all ages. Adults can visit with or without kids. There is a lot of variety in the beautifully put together and orchestrated exhibits so that there is surely something to catch everyones interest. Its hard not to learn something while visiting. There is a good amount of staff available throughout to answer questions. Base adult tickets are $21.95, $19.95 purchased online. Base childrens ticket (age 3 - 11) is $12.95, $10.95 purchased online. Some special exhibits are available for an additional fee. We paid $22 for very convenient, indoor parking on a Sunday. Museum and parking are very accessible.

I had low expectations but it is really one of the most interesting museums of this city. You can play and interact with so many things! You have to see the real Boeing 727 and the U505 submarine! It is an amazing place! Don’t miss it!

We have a membership at the museum so we enjoy going for a short afternoon to just see a few exhibits. If this is your first time there, I would suggest stopping by science storms, the U-boat, and the space exhibit. If finnigans is open, I would suggest stopping by because it is delicious. For additional places to go, the paid exhibits are also imformative and the movies are usually good. If you want to go to any ticketed exhibit, I would suggest buying them ahead of time to avoid the line and ensure you can get into exhibit at the time you want because space is limited.

My 8 yr old child loved it! Her first experience there was priceless . Definitely going back. ...love the precautions taken due to the pandemic.

This has always been my FAVORITE Science Museum since I was a child. Now as an adult and taking my children here the experience is unbeatable. My children and husband love it here as well. Definitely worth the time & the money.

Just reopened from Corona virus shutdown. Museum provided a stylus for use on touch screens and to push buttons. Many exhibits are still roped off or shut off but there is so much to see and do it didnt matter. All museum staff was very polite and helpful.

Doing Kwanzaa...day after Christmas we had storytellers and musicians who just got back from Over seas like Paris and theyre sharing ....The Art Of Story Telling. :) Thank you Mama SunShine and her Entourage of storytellers

I think even if you have been there during the day, at night it is a completely different experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit during the day but was surprised that for some reason, it looked cooler at night despite having relatively the same lighting. One perk is that you dont have to deal with kids since it is 21 and over and people who are generally unaware of you standing behind them in front of an exhibit waiting for them to leave as it typically is the case during the day.

My grandkids (7 and 2) had a great time ,even with some of the hands on exhibits closed because of the pandemic...my kids loved as did I as a kid....

The museum was absolutely stunning during Christmas time for Christmas Around the World! I highly suggest the U-boat tour if you go! Most definitely worth it! Plan to spend most of your day here if you want to take all of the tours and see everything!

I didnt even want to go here, but Im so glad we did. By far the most fun thing we did in Chicago. My wife and I had a blast, and so did our niece. Finding Wonder Woman in the scale model if the city was definitely a highlight. This is not something to miss if youre touristing in Chicago.

A huge amount of things to see for an affordable price. Even under Covid restrictions there was enough to fill most of a day.
