Beautiful facility for the players and the public! Two rinks, well manicured, concessions, relatively new stock of rental skates, good concessions, and the whole place is very clean. I had the great fortune to tour the Blackhawks locker room, which is stellar. Great to see that they have a first class facility for all the time and effort they put in. And love to walk through the locker room to see Toews, Kane, Crawford, Keith, and Shaws spots in there. Love watching these guys over the years. This was a great day for me.

I may be a little bias because I was lucky enough to guest Coach the professional division for the Chicago Professional Hockey League but the service at the arena was top notch. Andrea the GM helped me get my family friends set for an incredible viewing experience. I also was in locker rooms and used parking at the facility, both which were managed by professionals who made my night all the better.Good music during games, announcing was on par, and people packed into the first week of the league. Next time I will make sure to try to the food! Thanks MB Arena and Hawks for a classy experience as the guest coach.

Public Skating-Nice and Clean. Friendly staff. Free customer parking. Plus helpful and friendly rink supervisor in the yellow jacket. Helped me off my feet in a hard fall and suggested I take some ice and a break before coming back to skate. I wish the rink was a bit smoother or leveled at 5:30pm, but I guess it must have been used before then as well.

How cool is this place!!! The rink is even adapted to where sled hockey players can get on/off the bench. We don’t HAVE to sit on the ice if we don’t wanna! There’s plexiglass in place so we can see. Locker rooms are really nice and clean too. Love this facility!

I am a long time hockey player and skated at my fair share dumpy rinks and this is not one of them. This rink is brand new. The arena is clean and has a good layout. The parking lot is smaller than expected but an overflow lot does exist. The locker rooms are clean as well. (Watch out for the utility covers on the floor though if youre wearing skates). This is my preferred rink in the city of Chicago.

Ad
Review №42

The arena itself is well kept. However, its location is in a very bad part of town, the concessions food is on the low end of quality, staff is on the low end of adequate customer service, and the public skating is a nightmare due to no seating around the rink, many walkers going every which way on the ice, and a very small entrance/exit from the rink which gets easily congested. Stay away, stay very far away from this facility if you are strictly looking for public skating. Im sure its a great place for league play, etc. However, we just wanted to have a little fun during our vacation, and this was definitely was a fail... BIG TIME!

The best ice complex in Chicago! Two full size rinks, full kitchen concessions, bar and my favorite, a dunkin donuts! My friends and I came to this community ice arena and found it not open to the community Saturday afternoon when it was supposed to be open for a public skate. MB was holding a private event, which was not posted on their website and the public skate was cancelled. Im a long time Hawks fan and glad the Blackhawks have a nice training facility, but I take offense to them calling this a community rink if they are going to use it for private events and exclude the local citizens who want to enjoy skating. Either offer more open skatings for the public, or take community off your name. Very disappointed Hawks fan.

New Blackhawks.practice facility who were there when I was. You can watch them practice but their locker room is behind the far bench so they dont come thru the public areas. When they are there, about 75% of the parking lot is closed off for them. Prepare for street parking.Nice facility. Everyone gets screened coming in.Small Dunkin. Donuts just to the right inside the door with a fancy bar just past that. On the left behind the screening area is a small concession area. Reasonable prices with the 4 steak sliders at $11 on the high end.

The MB Ice Arena was my worst public ice skating experience so far, and by far! The arena is in a very inconveniently located and questionable part of town. The facility itself looks very professional and welcoming at first. However, on second glance you notice immediately that this is clearly focused towards professional usage and that not targeted for the general public, which you would expect from a place that claims to be a community rink. The food selection is big, but the quality is poor. Here they should rather focus on quality than quantity. The worst part, however, was the actual experience on the ice rink. First of all, the entrance to the ice was limited to a tiny tiny single door, which caused an ongoing congestion around it. Second, the fact that this fancy looking place was lacking a designated area where you could change to your skates, and lock your belongings is beyond belief. And even if it had such amenities, there are poorly signposted. Third, despite having benches by the ice to sit on, it is strictly prohibited to do so (I didnt see that in any rules but okay). Lastly, but most severely, the staff that was present was very rude, and anything but professionally. This is not how you treat your customers! I would advise anyone who is just looking for a convenient place to practice iceskating during public hours from going here. Go to Ridgeland Common Ice Arena, which is only slightly west from here and you will have a better time, I guarantee you!

This is the best place to play a pick-up game in all of chicago, bar none. Their schedule is readily available online and, even though its a bit pricey, its worth the time you get on the ice.The ice is always clean, the staff is awesome, they sell the essentials you tend to always forget (extra laces, tape, etc.), and who could beat getting to play on the Chicago Blackhawks practice ice. My favorite place to skate in all of Chicago.

The security is ridiculous before every game, though.Pros: Great ice, extremely well kept, clean/new locker rooms, friendly staff, lots of TVs to hang by the bar after the game, refs actually show upCons: Freakin TSA screening every time Im going to skate in a mens league game, expensive beers, no music during pregame warm-ups/play stoppages

Parking is atrocious! Prices are expensive and practically the same as going to the United Center. The sound system is brutal in one rink. The TVs in the lobby are too high to watch without neck strain. The sightlines are somewhat distorted for to glass walls to contain the fans. The dark black netting is distracting while watching a game. Hopefully the facility is good for the players cause it definitely didnt have the fans in mind.
