I bought a Groupon for a sailing tour and it was cancelled both times on the same day by Captain Rick. I tried to contact him countless times via text and call and he did not answer me once. I had to dispute the charge with Groupon and my credit card company to get the charge removed as this seems to be a scam Offshore Adventures is running. PLEASE AVOID booking any sort of tour with this company as I am not even sure if they ever follow-through on any of their bookings.

Bucket list experience and best date night ever. Ive always wanted to go on a private sailing cruise on Lake Michigan and our sailing cruise last night did not disappoint. Captain Anne and the other couple cruising with us were so much fun, and the sunset and nighttime views of the lake and Chicago skyline were breathtaking. Highly, highly recommend Offshore Adventures if you live close to Chicago or are planning a trip there during sailing season .

Purchased a groupon for $200 for private BYOB sailing cruise. There is no dates available from June-october and the groupon expires in October. Unable to refund my purchase, complete waste of money. The phone line never answers the phone and are instructed to email, I have emailed and the merchant requested that I refund via groupon but groupon will not refund.DO NOT BOOK! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME. GO ELSEWHERE.WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD.

Make sure you check date availability ON THE WEBSITE if buying on Groupon. I checked because I saw a review that said there was no space left, and it’s true. It’s all sold out till mid October, which is when the Groupon expires. Very sneaky...

*******CONSUMER ALERT******If you’re a Groupon customer and you’re buying a private tour make sure when you book online you put book it for 6 people even if it’s 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 in your group. You must book it for 6 people otherwise your private sailing trip will become a semi-private.I purchased the $200 Groupon for a private trip for my family and myself. When I booked online it prompts you how many in your group. I put 4, When we arrived at the meeting space there was another couple who was just as surprised as we were that their romantic private sailing trip was now a semi private with a family of 4. I overheard her saying “I thought this was supposed to be private”, So if I paid $200 for private and they paid $200 for private, That means offshore got paid $400 for one trip. Very sneaky Offshore! Of course they do not tell you in the fine print that if you want private you need to book 6 even though your party is less than 6. So this is my public service announcement. As for the trip, our captain was very polite and we had a decent time it’s just not what we paid for. I’ve seen semi-private for less money.

I have been wanting to go sailing on Lake Michigan since I moved to Chicago six years ago. I dont think we could have chosen a better company to make it happen! We met Captain Tim at the designated picnic tables and he was there waiting for us. He was very patient and understanding when we told him that a couple people in our party were running about a half hour late. He let us stow all out food and drinks and hang out on the boat while we waiting for them to arrive. The vessel was nothing special, just a small little sailboat that reeked of the 80s with wood paneling lining the entire interior. When we finally got out onto the lake, Tim answered all of our questions and told us stories about some of the crazy passengers hes had. He danced along with our music and made us feel very welcome.Out on the lake, the views of the city are incredible. We made it almost all the way out to the Four Mile Water Crib before turning back. On the way back in, Captain Tim took us right by the Chicago Harbor Lighthouse, which was a great photo op. Once back in the harbor, he docked like a pro, helped us offload our supplies, and we went on our way!

This was a birthday gift I received. We booked our tour three months in advance because they were so busy and had no openings. When we arrived to the dock, a person with a clipboard let us know that the engine had just broken and that they were canceling our boat ride.It seems standard that we shouldve received a phone call from the company, especially considering what we paid for the trip. (If only so that we could tell the cab we paid for to turn around and take us back home.) They also told us they could reschedule our tour but also said theyre full until the end of the season so wed have to set one up for next season or go during the week if we wanted to go this season. Two weeks passed, and we still heard nothing from this company. No one contacted us after the tour to get a refund or to reschedule or even to communicate what had happened in the first place. (Were they hoping wed forget about the money we paid so they could pocket our money?) And when we did, Captain Ricks response was Im sorry you were inconvenienced, but we couldnt have called you.Theyve delivered sub-par customer service from start to finish. Not sure how many cancellations they issue, but I know we wont be going back for another try.

I am very disappointed with Offshore Adventures. Offshore Adventures cancelled my sailing cruise three times due to various circumstances, including weather and mistakes with booking. I attempted rescheduling to the end of the year, yet never received a cruise and they did not allow a refund of my 100 plus dollars spent on this trip. Our initial sail was scheduled for the Chicago Air and Water show, and they called an hour or so before departure claiming weather conditions. However ,many boats were still on the water that day. We continued to reschedule 2 more times. Finally, on the last week that the company was open, they suggested to reschedule for the following year and did not allow a refund. This is upsetting as I am paying for an expensive cruise I did not receive. Not once did I cancel, yet they cancelled 3 times. Most importantly, I found the customer service to be very poor. While trying to work out solutions to rescheduling or a refund, a lady from Off Shore Adventures consistently presented with a sarcastic tone in her voice, and did not hear out my concerns during our many, many phone calls. Overall, I am very disappointed with the overall service of Off Shore Adventures. Save your money and do not go forward with booking with Off Shore Adventures.

I wanted to do something different and when I saw a Groupon for a 2hr BYOB, I asked some friends if they would be interested. They were just as excited as I was! My husband and I, along with 2 other couples, went sailing last Saturday at 4:30pm. The weather was perfect!! Captain Bill was great! He was very easy going, knowledgable and interesting. We were able to actually sail for most of our 2hr trip. Would highly recommend. Was easy to book our trip online and communicate quickly via email with any questions. Their instructions/directions are very detailed and clear...we got there early just to make sure we wouldnt miss out!

I wish I could give this ZERO stars but cannot. This business scammed us for our hard-earned money! The owner is non-responsive. We scheduled for an adventure and arrived to be told the boat was not working. They told us they were sorry but that they could reschedule for another day. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned a second time. No one ever showed up after numerous calls and texts after 90-minutes waiting. We even called them that morning and asked if the boat was in working order and they still forgot about us. I would strongly caution you...WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK!

Captain Rick is fantastic--if you are looking for a great BYOB day sail, then your search should stop here! Last summer I bought a YouSwoop voucher that was around $70 for a 2 hour sail around Lake Michigan. After setting up the time with Captain Rick, he sent out the instructions on where to meet him for pickup with the rest of our group (which was four other people). We arrived at DuSable Harbor a little before our sail time and he pulled up in his boat, The Alpha Puppy and promptly boarded the passengers. He gave us all the safety information and the specifics of the ship (like where the restroom was). I cannot speak volumes for how great of a great host/captain he was. He provided great conversation and entertainment for the 2+ hours that we sailed around in Lake Michigan. The ride on his 36 foot sailboat was incredibly smooth (obviously weather permitting) and he was incredibly generous with the BYOB policy, even providing cooler space for those who didnt pack a cooler. The experience was great and the views of the city from the boat are incredible. Its a unique experience for tourists and locals alike.

We booked a cruise for our anniversary and we were asked to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early. We were on our way downtown the morning of the cruise and Rick, the boat captain called to cancel 45 minutes prior to our departure time because he couldnt get the boat to start. He apologized and said that he would be adding a brand new boat in the next week and he would contact us to schedule a trip as soon as they got it in the water. He was going to contact us because the current schedule was very full and he would make sure we got a priority booking for the inconvenience. They never contact me so I followed up with and e-mail and call and they apologized for the confusion and not getting back to me but once again did not. I have tried again but these folks are very unorganized and have poor customer service.
