Chester skateland is a nice clean place to visit. The environment is friendly and peaceful. I had a great time enjoyed myself.

The staff is so nice and helpful! I really wish I could give 5 stars but the floor is awful, I mean really, really awful. It’s not a wood floor and it has cracks and holes in many places making it really easy to fall especially for beginners. The DJ played good music. They desperately need to replace that floor , sadly I won’t be going back until that’s done . For the price of admission, rental, and food I want to skate on a nice smooth floor .

I bought admission on Groupon and we had the best time. 3 hours of skating with me and my 3 kids. Clean, affordable fun for the family.

Our youngest daughter takes skate lessons here on Saturday mornings. The instructors are very professional and absolutely wonderful! The atmosphere is great and the people are super friendly! Great place to skate and you cant beat the price!Just a note, if you are looking for a brand new place to skate this is not it. Its an older, family owned rink and has been around for decades, but that is certainly part of its charm.:)

I wish they had better diverse music selection but kids had alot of fun so overall a good time.

New uprated to the ring floor was great

This is an okay skating rink. The whole place needs a thorough cleaning as the floor is sticky, the railings are sticky, and the tables had food stuck to them. The floor for skating on has seen better days and could also do with a refresh. However, the DJ and staff helped everyone have a good time and ensured that everyone was skating in an appropriate and safe manner.

Really REALLY needs an update. The floors have places that to me are an accident waiting to happen. There was lots of fun happening and seemed enjoyable to the crowd which was mainly little ones .....like elementary and below..so cute! If you are looking for updated venue not the place at all....but outside of that your typical skate spot.

Suuuper fun place for kids/teenagers/young adults to go with friends or a significant other! The demographic tends to seem a bit younger, but it genuinely provides a good time that just flies by for people of all ages.Theyre only open for short bouts of time unfortunately, but Id definitely recommend slipping in a visit if you can.

This is truly a nice place to take the family on a budget for an outing. However, the place is dated, the parking lot is a wreck and the whole establishment needs to be updated. We have had birthday parties here for my children and been there for friends events as well and everyone has come to the same conclusion, priced very well but we would gladly pay slightly more for an update!

Great staff, large skating and common areas. Nice food bar. Consistent offering of Groupon deals. Although one group started a raucous, security was prompt to address that and other safety needs of the skaters. We will def visit again.

Staff is always super friendly, but the floors are really messed up we barely got to skate.left after 30 minutes after trying to getting out there.

Great place to take the kids for a fun night out or even a day trip. Most of us grew up roller skating so it is wonderful that we can keep the tradition alive and bring our kids today. Warm family atmosphere. Great activity for all ages. Fun and is good exercise. Snack bar is filled with hot dogs pizza pop corn and candy. They also have sodas and water. Good place to host a childs birthday party.

A little dated, the surface was beat up in spots but for $9 a person we had a blast. And the little walkers to help new skaters were great

Really enjoy it here, but I feel the parents are taking advantage of these great people that run this place.. Theyre not there to babysit... they are there to give You and Your family a place to go for entertainment ..there should be a rule that under a certain age, The Parent Has to Stay.. Or you cant come in and one more thing.. Parents get there on time to pick up your kids.. Got some sad parenting skills going on here ...dont like what Im saying then you know what to do.. lets make it Better

The older lady that was working the window was very rude. They had Halloween decorations up a pole with decor on fell she did not have the descents to ask of my daughter a.d granddaughter was ok, She said you could have just picked it up. She opened the door from the office to pick it up and dont take caution and hit one of my family members. She was very ride no customer service at all!!! Concession stand young lady very rude as well. You pay 8.00 for a pitcher of soda and only get 4 cups. Never again!!!

Skate floor is worn out, kids were falling all over cause if the bumps in the floor. The place could use some serious updating.

I came about a month ago with my friend for her birthday and loved it ! It’s really fun once you take the time to learn , though there is a rough spot on the floor that gives me a little anxiety, being a little afraid of rolling over it and the wheel getting stuck or what not . I love the atmosphere and the music ! I am planning a trip very soon and can’t find the prices on the website . But overall it’s a very fun place and I highly recommend

Would give this place a five this is my second time here had no problem the first time second time around my 10 year old daughter wheels fell off she went to the desk to get more skates and was told she had to skate like that for the rest of the evening so I went to the the desk and they gave me another pair I asked what was said between my daughter and what she told me there response was it was a joke if it was then why didn’t y’all give her another pair she had to come all the way to me upset. Not professional at all pissed

Great place for the kids but it smells in there. It may be the fact that the carpet looks like its been there since they opened and no one has shampooed the carpet. Other than that its okay very inexpensive and good fun for the whole family.

Very rude. I dont know if it was the owner who was capping her hands at people saying its time to go, but it was unprofessional. Will never have a party there again.

Lot of fun

The staff are way too comfortable and clearly need a brush up on customer service...a cashier stopped in the middle of our transaction to help her staff never said excuse me or apologized i had to wait for her to bring my card and receipt to sign because she walked away with it....

We had our Troop Court of Honor here, great change-up from our usual bowling experience. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Best of all the price couldnt be beat with $5 skating! I would have given it 5 stars but the floor is in need of replacement, but thats no secret and we knew about it before arriving. We will be back.

Lots of fun, music and laughter. Chris did splits and I thought the people next to us at Skateland were going to stroke out!! Chris did his splits to shock them and he did!!

This place is a dump and should not even br open to the public until they fix the floor!

Great place for parties for kids just need more help

Terrible customer service. 8 dollars for a pitcher of soda , I understand this as a business but .50 for a tiny plastic cup after spending 8 bucks is not fair. Tried to order a whole pizza, knowing I would be paying 2 bucks a slice but they wouldnt even give me the whole pizza unless they sliced it up. I just didnt understand. The kids had fun i just could not get over the nickle and diming there along with rude staff.

Love it, visited only on Sunday nights, very laid back, old school music is a plus if your into that vibe on Sundays. Only thing needed is a Lil sprucing up on the snack bar and needed upgrades... Family oriented for sure.

A great rink for some safe, family quality fun time, (James) puts on great events for the community throughout the year with a caring staff. Yes its needs some areas of upgrades and fixing as all the rinks in VA do. I enjoy the atmosphere and the music also the fact the staff know most customers by name. The teachers are club members that have skated for years and do care and know what they are doing. Amazing to watch these kids, and the hard work ,people dont realize. Awesome and best Halloween event.

The facility is a dated but my kids had fun & that is what counted.

We love going skating here. It’s not overcrowded and is very family friendly. I also really appreciate their homeschool day they do every month.

It’s a nice place to take the kids...but this place is in need of some TLC. The rink itself has many divots and uneven spots. The staff are nice and helpful and seating is ample. We went on a Sunday and it wasn’t too busy at opening (1:30) but slowly became crowded.One thing I noticed was the lack of supervision on the floor as older kids over ran the younger ones. Since this is a free skate type environment during these time frames, I would expect more control on the floor.I will bring my kids back to skate here and have high hopes they will address the rink flooring soon because the end em areas interfere with wheel movement...enjoy!

Super fun!! I go there some and every time I go I have a blast. They always play the latest songs and they do cool games and races. They have good food at good prices. I recommend it to all parents and kids

The floors are horrible the rink needs an facelift bad. Been a long time since Ive gone skating there and now I see why.

My daughter loves this place! It could use a few upgrades, but overall its family oriented and the Sunday night old schoolnight is really laid back.

Nice place for a family outing. Not a fan of the smell in the air. The skate host was engaging and made the experience a good one.

Rink floor in average condition. NO ONE is in control of traffic or messes on rink. The boys bathroom looked like it could be given to a third world country and Im not sure they would appreciate it. I dont mind spending a few more $ to have something worth going back to. Will definitely drive the extra 20miles to skate somewhere that takes pride in their rink. I encourage if you want to continue to retain business I suggest spending atleast a few $ to remove bucket holding stalls up in bathroom but thats just where I would start.

I love this place I visit it commonly and it’s fun. There is a lot of room to skate. The only thing is is that there is a couple of cracks in the ground.

My daughter loves skating, and this is our favorite place to go. Its not flashy, but is priced reasonably. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to help. Its not usually crowded except on the evening skates on Friday and Saturday nights.

Since coming to Chester Skateland Roller Skating has become a BIG part of my life. Now being an employee I understand the mission of our rink to reach out and grow people into becoming stronger skaters. Skateland is a family oriented business that seeks to make a safe clean environment for families to have a place to skate. We also strongly believe in reaching out and teaching people how to skate and to one day become all stars out on the skating floor! Our employees listen to the needs and wants of the customers and seek to make our rink even better daily! This is one place you will never regret visiting!

Their floor is messed up and then the price that you pay is just not worth the time that the kids get they should be at least 4 hours thats just my opinion in a separate will be nice versus having different amount if its going to be $8 then let it be $8 if its going to be $9 then $9 like separate the funds I dont like that

The snack bar attendant I thought maybe was mute but apparently she just chooses to not verbally respond to you which is very odd and rude! They expect you to spend 1.50+ on a drink but u cant take it out of the snack bar you have to swerve your way around the piles of people blocking every path to get in! Then once u leave your drink for a few minutes they throw it away!!! Not to mention the odd hours?! The owner is super nice and pleasant which is why I gave them 2 stars but honestly there is nothing else appealing!

Staff was nice.. however the music was horrible and so was the skates and the rink. The floor was all messed up. The skates were too heavy, old, and rigid.

This rink has been around a while. Hasnt changed much since I was a teen. We usually do the homeschool skate day which is a fantastic price and a great way to get the kids out of the house for some exercise. The rink floor has some paint peeling up in spots and some of the skates could use some maintenance. But the lady that runs it is really nice and gets everyone in and in skates quick. She sometimes plays Christian music, not sure if this is just for the homeschool skate or always.

OK establishment. Definitely needs upgrades. Unique pricing and they charge for everything, they charge for a song request, but I guess thats what you can do when youre the boss. But hey they are on Groupon! You get what you pay for!

Hasnt changed since the 90s but they are inexpensive and the kids love it. A little dirty and shabby, but the staff was very nice.

I went skating here as a child and now I take my children here. Very fun and entertaining. Some of the music hasnt changed since then, but I think thats better than some of what is on the radio today anyway.

Place was pretty much the same as it was 17 years ago. They claim there is a new floor but it was just painted. Allot of dents and broken areas. No roller blades for rent either.

The internet killed the skating rink. Skateland desperately needs a new floor, and to update their rental skates, but they may not make enough revenue to justify basic maintenance. Also, I love this place. The kids dont need a Saturday night hangout spot because of Steam chat and social media.

Place has gone downhill. skating rink has large rough bare spots on them almost everywhere. not an easy spot for your kids to learn on. coming off the rink some spots are some worn down they have ot covered with duck tape. very sad since this place gets plenty of income. I always came as a kid but usually will alway go to Skate Away now as an adult and wanted to show my kids where I skated as a kid. now I know for sure just to continue going to Skate Away for the same price for way better conditions!

My daughter and I had an amazing time there! Nice small crowd on that evening but Im sure it gets busy

Horrible experience.. was VERY excited to surprise my stepson with skating for his birthday. The customer service was horrible from the lady at the front desk with glasses and blondish hair. She needs a lesson on being MUCH more polite with the people coming to spend money with her establishment. I will be calling to speak with an owner or manager.

If you want to feel like a sardine this is the place for you. If you like potholes in your skating rink this is the place for you. If you love the smell of foot fungus this is the place for you. Just dont invite me again.

Always have a good time with the kids

The staff is very friendly and helpful, and get to know their regular customers. I tend to stay away from Friday/ Saturday nights, due to larger crowds. Price is good for the activity. The staff does a lot of events for the community: school events, day care, Christian skate night, homeschool skate, my daughter even does roller hockey! I will admit, like most roller rinks, it does need some repairs. Apparently a water leak caused damage to the floor, which apparently is VERY costly to have repaired. But they try to put on good events and fun decorations for the holidays.Like the atmosphere and the kids LOVE it!
