Dont know whats with the negative remarks about the place and staff. Maybe everyone making negative comments still lives in their parents basements and needs a safe space and crayons to calm their tempers. With that said its a great place perfect for the kids and the staff is amazing. Food is also good and my kids had a great time.

Fun! Bowling was well priced. And they are currently going under renovation so the place will look awesome when they are finished.

Everything was out of date. The score keeping machine wouldn’t work. The employees were not friendly. Trying to make the machine work took about 30 mins of our time and we didn’t get that back. The employees were rude and didn’t want to help fix the machine. Kept saying “next week will be better” I’m sorry I paid for today to work and today to play. I will never be back!!

Horrible experience! I seriously dont know how this place has such high ratings. Horrible customer service... The rude woman behind the counter misunderstood when we said 9 bowlers and charged us for 10. When we went to enter the names at our Lane, I noticed that it was trying to make us add an additional name before we could move onto the next screen. I went back to the counter to ask how to delete the blank name and she said we couldnt and we had to add someone. I told her we didnt have anyone else to add... Thats when I realized she had over charged us and I told her we didnt have that many in our party and she said too bad for me, they dont do refunds. We will never return here and Ill be sure to tell everyone I know what a dump this place is. Also the systems are Very old and every score has to be entered manually and you have to tell it after every ball to reset the lane and clear any pins knocked over.Price is way too expensive to justify the poor quality.

Went here for a birthday party for one of my childs classmates and while it was a good time, there were a couple of things that would make me not want to go back. Theres no ATM but there are arcade games so be sure to bring cash with you bc the token machine doesnt take cards. As for the bowling aspect of the party. There were around 10 kids on 2 lanes (the adults didnt play). We were only on the 7th frame when we were prompted to return the shoes bc the pizzas were ready. One of the hosts went to ask if the children could finish their games since it was only 3 frames. Next thing the score screens went blank and we had no choice but to end the game. Felt like they were rushing us. Pizza was mediocre and the place needs a bit of updating.

I came here with my friends who live in Cheshire. I am from Long Island. The old woman who checked us in and gave us the rental shoes was very nice and friendly. We got to our lane and didnt know how to reset the pins at first. When one of my friends approached an older man with a Highland Bowl shirt on and asked him if he worked there the guy responded sarcastically with No I am just sitting here. Then we were near the end of our second game and the pinsetter had a problem. It wasnt resetting the pins and the bowling balls were not coming back. I approached the man to tell him and he barely acknowledged me, he took his time and casually strolled to the back. After he comes back up front he turns on the lane next to us and says to finish our game there as itll take 3 hours to repair the lane we were on. A belt had broken in the back and it is a lengthy repair. No problem. We didnt mind that but when we were talking to him after he told us to finish on the lane next door, my girlfriend pointed out that Im an avid bowler and knew some things about ten pin bowling pinsetters. He snarkly replies with Ive been doing this for 70 years, I think I have a clue on how these machines work. I dont even mind the pinsetter malfunction, they are machines and breakdowns do happen. How we were spoken to and treated is what I am upset about. I felt like an inconvenience to this man. The center is nice, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and old school feel. However, the customer service or lack thereof left a bit to be desired. We will probably go somewhere else next time we decide to go duckpin bowling despite the close proximity to where my friends live.

I bowl here regularly. There are fewer Duckpin centers with every passing year and the owner of Highland is enthusiastically committed to maintaining the best center in Connecticut. Lanes are in good condition, pinsetters are kept working as well as possible for historic technology. The food is also a step above with all items cooked fresh to order. Most leagues are looking for more bowlers on week nights or stop in weekends for open bowling or kids parties.

I got told that I was going to have the place shut down because I brought a dunkin donuts coffee inside . All they needed to say was sorry, no outside drinks aloud but instead I got a lecture on how I was going to get the place shut down. And how bad it was for me to do that. But anyways, I came for a kids birthday party . whole nother story - wed be here all day . basically they barely let them bowl and then for an hour theyre supposed to eat and then they give them a few tokens each to play the most or dated arcade games where the majority of them dont work

The night before my wife and I were married, we rented 10 lanes at Highland Bowl and invited all our younger friends to come bowl with us, in lieu of a bachelor/bachelorette party. We had a blast. Todd was extremely helpful and flexible in arranging the details of the event and even called me the day before to make sure there werent any last-minute changes and to check on his inventory of snacks and booze based on our predicted drink needs. He suggested the glow-in-the-dark bowling and music choices and really seemed to want us to have a great time. And we did. So much so that, although we had arranged for an 8:00 to 10:00 session, no one wanted to leave at 10:00. Todd was willing to keep things going for us (for a very reasonable additional charge) until everyone was done with their pitchers and games. All in all, a very enjoyable experience, and all our friends told us what a great time they had there. Everyone should check Highland Bowl out.

This is a fantastic place to bring children. This is Duckpin Bowling which is a small bowling ball, similar to a Skee-Ball. It has a small arcade that the children can learn tickets to get prizes. In addition it has a great selection of food. Their prices are very reasonable.

I am only giving 1 star because I could not put 0 stars From the minute we walked in they were super rude! When we ordered food they acted lazy and almost unwilling to serve. It was clear from the get go there would be no welcoming committee to Hiland bowling alley but we put that aside and started to have a good time. Once our food came we sat down at the only available table. Apparently they had a big party starting to come in and wanted that table for 3. So they told us to move in a very rude and loud manner questioning why we would sit at that table even though it was the only table available table at the time and was right behind our lane. I dont suggest this place at all because they are rude, mean and completely ungracracios for the paying customer. Just a little quote if you dont like your job dont work there. I chose to leave because enough was enough. Im in support of small businesses and always choose to support them over big industry but in this case no one should ever spend their money at this place. The scene they made in front of our children is a lasting memory. One I should not nor anyone else pay for.

I was here with a group of friends back in December. Im not good at bowling myself but its a lot of fun and I think duckpin bowling balls are easier to handle than the other bowling balls. Pizza and drinks were included in the bowling fees but the pizza is about the same quality as Ellios microwave pizza, so dont expect too much there.
