I came one day and they turned me away because they close in the middle of the day. I come back the next day and they’re at max capacity. It’s not a gym—it’s a circus.

Great athletic center. I envy the UVA students. If you go to rec swim, you will see a lot of non-varsity talent. Swimmers I met worked me really hard - which is what I wanted.

Very nice aquatic and gym facility on the grounds at UVA

They just renovated so everything is very new and nice. Their weight room is pretty nice and they have a really nice pool. It is usually more busy at night so if you are looking to get a good workout in with less people going in the morning would be your best bet.

There is a 25 yard by 50 meter pool and lanes are usually available to do laps (25 ft). The pool temperature is kept between 79-81 degrees. There are also lockers available with built in combination locks. The 16 person hot tub is great to relax in after a swim.

A good place to workout, run, swim and play basketball.Basketball courts are really good here. It gets pretty crowded during weekdays though.AFC has one the best Swimming pools in the city. Come here all the time to do choreo. Basically a home. Good equipment too and runs until midnight.

Too crowded. Funny smells in the women locker room

AFC is pretty good. Its big but usually packed. Good for cardio, ok for weightlifting. Super distractions though from folks walking around everywhere. If slaughter is closed, Id go here.

Love the AFC, the pool is excellent, friendly and helpful staff. Everyone else loves it too, so be careful going at popular times (just after work, late afternoon through early evening) because its often a little crowded.

Not the most modern or comprehensive university athletic facility but being open to the community is a great plus, the atmosphere during UVA swim and dive meets (especially against hated rival UNC) is incredible and definitely something students and locals should experience.

Nice place. We sat inside the aquatic area during delay in the UVA vs Richmond game.

The staff are friendly and the gym is always clean. Now if only people would rack their weights after they were finished.

If you are a UVA student, then you have access to a track, a gym, a pool, treadmills, exercise bikes, stairsteppers, and weight lifting machines of many kinds. It is a great place to get fit.

Plenty of equipment diversity and a great facility, but most times its very packed and hard to get the station that you want.

I go there all the time for weightlifting and plyo.
