Best theater experience I’ve ever had! The sound quality is excellent, and the picture is clean. With seats that recline in the front rows, you won’t want to go anywhere else to see a show. Thought this was a great movie theater. Sound was stupendous and seating is comfortable. Temperature was perfect and movie selection is great. The milkshake was delicious and I orders the fish and chips where the fish was overcooked (hard to bite into) and the chips were good. Overall, great place!

Alamo reminds me of cinemas from when I was a kid! The feeling of actually experiencing the movie along with being able to recline and relax while also getting food and drinks is amazing! One of my favorite places to lay down and watch a movie!

Glad it is back open to experience the movies again.Very professional, crews were constantly cleaning and sanitizing surfaces. Good selection of drinks and food. Ordering everything ahead of going even into the building was different, but they did offer us the ability to sit in the lounge for drink and snack and purchase our movie and food orders on line while sitting in there before checking in.Theyre doing a good job to keep you safe and the facility clean.

A very nice way to see a movie. The service here is friendly and competent. The food is a bit pricey, but good. I had the loaded fries, they were awesome. The pizzas here are great too.

My husband and I love to come here and watch movies. Every theater has reserved seating and kids ages 6-18 require an adult. No one can kick your chair since the aisles are so wide to allow the servers to walk through. Also, no awkward scooting past someone if you need to go to the bathroom. The good is all really good and I think we have tried almost everything on the menu. Weve never actually ordered a alcoholic drink, but I would bet they are amazing! This is the only theater we have been to since we found it about a year ago. They also player older and classic movies, not just new ones.

The reclining chairs are great. Movie was great just played to loudly. Food service was extremely poor. Drinks were brought out quickly but the food was not delivered until 3/4 of the movie was done and we had to go ask about it 2 times! Ordered endless popcorn bowl and a coke and had to ask for a refill on both.I do appreciate management deducting some of the delayed food delivery but we went to an afternoon movie and the place was empty! No excuse for the poor service.

My experience here was really good. The seats were super comfortable. the theaters are not overcrowded with seats so I assume they probably sell out really quickly. I had dinner drinks and popcorn served to my seat in the theater. The popcorn and drinks for typically overpriced for theater. I had pizza and my friend head fish and chips both of which were good but werent outstanding. The movie was about $25 for the two of us and the meal was about $60 for the two of us with tip. all the workers from the guy behind the counter selling us are tickets to all of the wait staff were absolutely the BEST!!! A fun twist the day we went were having three Star wars real life characters in the lobby for us to take pictures with.

Wonderful movie theater! So nice to have a meal while you watch. Gotta get there early to see the fun pre-show footage and especially get there early if you plan to have a meal during the show. The milkshakes are top notch and so are the fried pickles! My fiance and I come here all the time

Good food. Great seats. Service in the theatre was fast and easy. The bartender in the pub area was knowledgeable and friendly too. Definitely plan to go back soon.

This is a luxurious way to watch a movie. The food is pretty standard fare and it gets too pricey very easily, but it’s a lot of fun to order and eat whatever you want. The popcorn is better than average, the adult milk shakes are indulgent, and the staff are nice. My 8 year old daughter doesn’t like the stern warning before each film about being thrown out of the movie if you use your phone :)

One of the most memorable movie going experiences Ive ever had. Super clear picture, great sound, and good food. Next time Im back, Ill be paying them a visit again.

A very cool experience for movie viewing, particularly a comedy or film youve already seen but maybe not great for a serious drama. Friend and I were there for a classic movie musicals theme night and saw Hairspray. Theater staff gave a great intro/backstory on the movie that pretty informative. I ordered a steak salad that was meh (salad also not a good food to eat in the dark) but my friend ordered the hot dog w fires and those looked really good. Movie ticket and beers were a great price.

Not cleaned well between showings, we were both uncomfortably chilly wearing jeans and winter coat entire time, took 35 minutes to get a drink refill (milk at that), all I wanted to eat for Valentines day was crab cakes and of course at a 6:45 p.m. dinner and movie they were conveniently out of crab cakes, wrote down our cookies and ice cream last on the list and it was served first 50 minutes after ordering, then our food arrives 15 minutes later and I asked for more ketchup when it was placed on the table and never got any more ketchup. The tartar sauce tasted terrible for the fish and chips and the fish had more breading than fish. Extremely greasy. I can say that we have been twice to the Alamo, first and last.

Excellent, as always. Great food, great movie, friendly and helpful staff. Really nice for date night or for kids matinee. Bottomless popcorn with an extra bowl and shakes and my kids are set!

We went to this theater for the first time tonight. The seats were comfortable, and the fact the food is brought right to you is great. The service and food was pretty good. My only complaint is that the staff slipped us a note halfway through the movie, reminding us not to talk during the movie. We literally had not said a word, so not sure what that was about? However, the people on the row down from us, were talking THE ENTIRE MOVIE! Nobody said a word to them!? Aside from that incident, it was a good experience, and we will go back again.

Great theater and worth the money. Seats are really comfortable and there is plenty of space between the rows. They serve alcohol; mixed drinks and beer. Their milkshakes are delicious and very filling. Before the movies start, instead of showing trivia or advertisements, they show funny videos of movies and TV shows from around the world that pertains to the movie you are watching. For example; Infinity War, they showed clips from the greatest team up in history of movies, which included Superman and Spider-Man together in a Bollywood movie. For Jurassic World, it was videos of cheap dinosaur movies. So get to the theater early and enjoy the pre-movie show. Only complaint, its kinda hard trying to eat hand held food in the dark. I got an egg added to my burger and regretted as it spilled on me. On this last visit, my cheese steak was falling all over the place. Of course it could just be me.

Cool theater with big comfy chairs that serves beer and drinks and food during the movie. The way it works is there is a little light under your seat table and you can read the menu and write what you want to order on an order slip. Put the order slip vertically in the holder on your table and the staff pick it up. Rules you should know, no late arrivals, no cell phone use during the movie, and no talking during the movie.

Theater was clean. Staff was very friendly and provided good service. Seats are comfortable and I really like the wider isles because it makes it easier to get to your seats.

We love this place. Watching a movie while reclining, sipping a glass of wine or having an appetizer is the only way we go to the movies anymore. Service has always been good, food is always tasty and we love the popcorn refills. I think our favorite snack is either Queso and Chips or the Loaded Fries. Pizzas are tasty too.

VERY comfortable seat!!! Staff goes out of their way to provide great service. Friendly and professional. I love that you just go to your seat once you enter the building. Your server checks your ticket. Nice touch! We will be back again.

Went today and had a great time. My wife and I had reclining seats and were comfortable during the movie. The food we order came quick and was right. Always a good experience can’t wait to come back!

Food could use a lot of improvement, especially for the cost. Seats are comfy though and the movie theater is great. We decide to eat elsewhere now though.

I loved everything about this theater. The staff was exceptionally courteous. When my wife got a little too cool, the host actually adjusted the temperature to her liking. Can you believe that? Awesome

The waitress/waiters could be a little better after in place are order everytime food takes a long time to get to us... if I do get mixed drinks its halfway through the movie before I get one. But the food is amazing I always get the hand breaded chicken tenders with the gravy & my old man gets the 2x burger with cheese fries in the side... Just arrive early before the movie to place your order... & tell your waitress you need a refill or they wont come back... but movies always great and so is food only had a couple good workers there while Im in the movie theater... the people at the bartender restaurant side where very nice and welcoming and apologized for my drinks arriving late.. You wont be disappointed I would say worth the money you pay!

Theater is clean. It is awesome to be able to choose your seats prior to showing. I have experienced multiple theaters with this setup and several Alamo locations. The seats are large and comfortable with a two top table shared for every two seats. Good to know if, for instance, you were in seats 4 and 5 as you would be sharing tables with those in seats 3 and 6. Food is decent; bar food equivalent so dont expect something 5 star. The service is not quite as expedient and efficient as I have experienced at similar places. Staff was friendly and helpful though. Beers are all craft. If you dont like craft brews, dont order. It makes it difficult if youve never had one of the 30 they have on tap. Me. It would be nice with 30 taps to have a few nationally recognized beer brands. Sound is a toss up between too loud and nice surround. Its neat to feel the bass but deafening at times. Bottom 5 rows of seating are level. Incline starts at row 6. Much more enjoyable viewing on the incline; not so neck breaking.

Best theater experience anywhere. Dolby atmos is awesome and the fact they serve great food and drinks is icing on the cake. Highly recommended

My favorite theater in town. Alamo has a genuine care for the cinema experience and just has a unique atmosphere that no other theater Ive ever been to can quite match.

Food was amazing. Got the loaded cheesy fries and they were a totally different spin on them. Got to the theater a little late but had no trouble finding our seat or ordering. Cant wait to go back again

Love the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas but the service here wasn’t the best. Only had a simple order of cookies with ice cream and 2 waters. Got the cookies without the ice cream or waters so wrote another note. Got the ice cream long after the cookies had been eaten and still no water. Another note and finally that arrives. It might seem a minor thing but of course you’re trying to watch a film while dealing with this...

LOVE the concept of this theatre!When purchasing tickets, you choose your seat. Even when I saw Black Panther opening night, I never felt crowded in the sold out show.Make sure you show up for your seat within 30 min of your show start.OR, you can start at the bar, and move to the theater. You must close out your tab first but can bring your food with you.For the pre-preview time, they show a history, with lots of retro footage, of your movies subject matter.The seats are roomy, comfortable, and recline. Full menu and adult beverages served. And the food is delicious! You place your order by writing it down on the provided paper.I highly, highly recommend the bottomless popcorn with clarified butter! You must specify you want the butter.The personnel are knowledgeable & friendly. Please tip your server!And they are serious about not talking & texting during the movie! A very enjoyable time & I plan to return!

This is the best place to watch movies! Reclining seats are really comfortable. The food was ok.

I have been a patron of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema since they first came to Charlottesville. Two weeks ago, I received the worst service leading to a fraudulent charge on my debit card and interrogation-like questioning from three managers when I requested resolution. The server brought my food to another patron, that patron signed a receipt with my name on it and I was charged for food I did not order or receive. When I first called the manager on duty, they reassured me that after the weekend, they would process my return stating that they worked during the same shift when I saw the film and heard feedback about my server being overwhelmed during their shift. After 10 phone calls and being passed off to different managers, one finally took my card number to process a refund (11 days after my initial call). No one apologized for the poor service that led to the charge or the time I wasted repeating details of my experience with every manager there. I would encourage each patron to be mindful of how current management disrespects customers and protects their staff even when they are at fault. I do not think the refund will be processed and I will think twice before I step foot in there again.

I really like this theatre! The service is great and the seating is comfortable. The food was tasty but will not get any Michelin stars. I did like that it feels clean, grubby theatres are disgusting!

Best spot for movies in Charlottesville. They don’t show a ridiculous amount of previews, the popcorn is great, and the shakes are amazing.

Great place to watch a movie (or two!). Very reasonable food and drink prices for a movie theater. This place ia more like a full restaurant that happens to show movies on the big screen. Wait staff take your orders at your chair, which has a two person table shared between two large, roomy chairs with recliner capabilities. They show new and old movies, including some really good cult classics like Princess Bride and Goonies. Good bar menu and the food is good too!

The front seats recline and they serve alcohol and food directly to you in theater. No other movie theater experience compares. I go probably 1-2 times a month.

A gift from daughter.. Dinner was fine but movie choice was poor. There were movies I had been looking forward too but the Alamo only showed movies that had left the best theaters.

I did not order food, so I cant rate that aspect. The seats were clean and comfortable. Staff was pleasant. I really enjoyed watching a movie at the Alamo, and I felt the price was reasonable, but I dont know if I will go back. Maybe I am getting old but the volume was far too high for my comfort, forget enjoyment. I dont see other people discussing this, so it is probably just me. The movie was enjoyable, the seats plush and comfortable , no sticky stuff on the floors, so a great place. I will just take ear plugs should I return.

Super cool place with a funky vintage vibe throughout. You can order food and beer from your seat, which is nice. They even play vintage commercials before the movies vs current commercials like most theaters, which I loved.

The Alamo provides an amazing movie watching experience! I love that they play fun videos before the movie and that there are very little trailers played before each showing. The seats are very comfortable and you choose exactly where you want to sit. So there is no fighting over seats or complaining where you sit. And the food and drinks just add to the already awesome experience. I would highly recommend to anyone! I do recommend buying seats ahead of time online, so that you are guaranteed tickets and seats you want.

Going to Alamo is always a great experience! The food is great, and the service is always fast and friendly. This is especially impressive in larger screenings (Avengers: Endgame to a full house)! The only complaint I have is the selection of movies this year. Last year during indie season, Alamo showed Thoroughbreds, Tully, A Quiet Place, and more, and this year has been a bit thin on new indie films with more showings of classics (Roman Holiday, Miyazaki, etc.). This might have as much to do with the indie climate this year as it does with Alamos choices, but I have been missing the rich selection of new films this year. All in all, a great theater with all the hits, great food, great service, and clean and comfortable screening rooms!

I live in Lynchburg, and it is so much better driving the hour and some change to come here to watch movies. The price is quite reasonable, and the leather reclining chairs make it a super comfortable experience. I’ve never had any problems with the food or service, and their company policy does not allow for texting or chatter during the movies. We will continue coming here as often as we can!

The Alamo Drafthouse in Charlottesville provides the best moviegoing experience Ive ever enjoyed. Their theaters are clean, the video and sound quality are excellent, and the food is great. Their staff is courteous, kind, and very attentive. Most of all, however, the company is dedicated to preserving the integrity of their audiences film viewing. No children are allowed without an adult, customers who arrive late are asked to attend a later showing, and noisy patrons are given one warning before being asked to leave the theater. I drive over an hour for every major film I see just to experience it at the Alamo. They also have seasonal showings of older and independent films, fun and creative promotions for popular franchises, and sometimes even exclusive merchandise. I would highly recommend for any serious film fan who wants to enjoy their time in the theater.

First time at Alamo and I loved it! Dine in Theater was really good. Saw John Wick 3 and they had a recap before the movie started for those who forgot about 2 and 3 or had never seen John Wick before...I thought that was pretty good.

All-n-all it was pretty good. The waiter dude said that we would get free refills on our drinks and popcorn, we seen him one time and he never came back. Very loud! Bring hearing protection.

Has very nice theaters, very nice and comfortable seats, and we had a very nice server. My one complaint is how my burger made me feel after. I felt a bit sick and my stomach hurt bad, but everyone else was fine, so it could have just been me, who knows. Otherwise, the surround sound was amazing. They have a STRICT no talking policy witch is quite nice. Have fun being immersed in your film.

Fabulous!! I went to the Purple Rain movie party with two friends & it was awesome. You could sing, dance, play a tambourine, wave glow sticks, & just enjoy. The staff is awesome!! I would definitely recommend the Alamo!!

Oh my the best place to watch movies. Need food or drink you never have to get up and miss any of the movie unless you need bathroom break. Clean, staff are helpful and nice. Oh and they have reclining seats too. Best place ever.

It is like the difference from flying 1st class to coach. Food is ok but a little pricey (not as bad as most theaters). It is nice ocassionly buy not worth driving through CVille.

My husband and I had never been to an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema before and we decided to see Deadpool 2 today. Im so glad that we went. First off, the commentary and the videos before the movie were hilarious and not much like normal previews or nonsense that goes on before movies. Our server was on point to say the least. Is very quick and efficient as well as the rest of the wait staff. The seats were very comfortable, though I wish they had a foot rest somewhere. Im definitely look forward to seeing more movies at this theater.

The movie and seats were great. Service was timely. Just had the soda and popcorn. Popcorn serving was for one person. If my movie was later in the day I would have had a beer.

Love this place! Recently went and saw Bohemian Rhapsody there. You gotta love having things you order including craft beer, popcorn, and a wide variety of burgers and other food brought to your table that is right in front of your seat. All you have to do is write what you want on a paper and put it in the box on your table. You run a tab and near the end of the movie you can pay by credit card. By the way, Bohemian Rhapsody was a great movie!

Love this theater—I literally drive an hour each way to get to Alamo because it beats the pants off of all the other theaters I’ve visited. First, the atmosphere is perfect for people who just want to enjoy their movie. Ex: There’s no taking or texting during the movie—or you will be asked to leave, and there’s always a fun mini-movie before the previews (rather than annoying commercials or cheesy entertainment news). The food is excellent—there’s real butter on the popcorn, delicious milkshakes, dozens of beers on draft, creative pizzas, and perfectly cooked burgers/fries among other options. Service is always great, and continues throughout the movie (without getting in your way). There are all sorts of fun movie events like a Life of Bryan screening on Easter, John Wayne for Father’s Day, etc. And finally, everything is reasonably priced

They have delicious pizzas, a fantastic baby kale Ceasar salad (with or without chicken), and their chili cheese dog is heavenly. Try anything on their menu, and you will be impressed by how good it is. And they have movies, too.
