In 2019, after their website raised a few red flags for me (my lensing having been tainted by an information security & IT career), I happened to stumble upon the clubs 2019 president Robert Schmidt, who happened to be working at Albemarle County Firearms. He informed me that an online application wasnt necessary, as I could merely apply in person at the clubs monthly meeting. Since Mr. Schmidt was no stranger to the club (he also served as president in 2018 and continues to do so in 2020), I trusted his advice and went to the requisite monthly meeting.Upon prospective member check-in (around eight members taking prospects names and handing them what seemed to be a print-out of their online application), I gave my name and said there was no corresponding online application. I then endured a miniature lecture from a crotchety senior citizen whose tone reminded me of an angry, tired grandfather scolding his spoiled grandkid, which drew stares and chuckles from nearby members and prospects alike, about the clubs lack of patience for those who cant follow simple instructions and follow the rules; he could care less when I explained that the president of the club told me I could apply in-person at the club -- perhaps he didnt care to hear me -- and shooed me away from the table. At this point, I approached the familiar face of Mr. Schmidt, seated at the center of the array of folding tables at the stage area of the club hall, in an attempt to get back on track to do what he himself, just a couple weeks prior, told me I could, and fill out the application in person. Despite recognizing me and recalling our chat at the shop, he was not interested in making his prior advice true, and informed that members follow the rules, and if I didnt want to, then I shouldnt be a member. I politely thanked him, walked to my vehicle, and drove home feeling like I dodged a figurative bullet at a literal gun range.I have several reasons to be believe the individual managing the clubs digital infrastructure is incompetent. Additionally, their membership application (which is a web form that populates a database) requires not merely an applicants name and mailing address, but street address, phone number, and previous names and addresses reaching back a decade. This seems to be a greedy overreach, especially as previous addresses can often be used as some level of identity verification even for financial institutions. To top it all off, applicants are required to agree to terms of use, a phrase that links to a webpage that does not exist (404 error), back in 2019, and is still the same dead end as 2020 draws to a close. These guys almost certainly understand how dangerous a firearm is. One simple and momentary act of carelessness can bring about serious harm (or worse) to one or two folks that very instant. They do not, however, seem to understand how dangerous technology is, since one simple and momentary act of carelessness can deliver harm to a vast number of people, and certainly not just for an instant. I certainly wont trust them with my personally-identifiable information, let alone what Id call my _sensitive_ PII.My situation couldve been cleared up quickly, but surrounded by his fellow club directors, Mr. Schmidt preferred taking a hard line rather than following through on his word. There are indeed other clubs in the area; they do take some effort to rustle up, but IMO there are plenty of reasons for a firearms club to keep a low or non-existent digital profile. And all the alternatives most likely have a more respectable president, too.

Visited a couple of times with a family member.Very impressed by the level of professionalism exhibited by other members with regards to safety. Keep up the great work! With respect to any negative reviews expecting this facility to relocate:This range has been here far longer than your recently built suburban house. If you dont like gun noise, you should have purchased a home elsewhere. Do your homework before making a home purchase instead of complaining about local culture that has been here much longer than you have.Board of Supervisors take note.

Great club with very friendly members. They have a very serious emphasis on safety which is important. Honestly, my favorite part is the snack fridge.

Great facilities at a bargain price - what more can you ask for?Someone moves in next to a rifle and pistol range, complains about the noise and suggests the range should relocate? I think theyve got that backwards. The range was here long before they were and if they dont like it they need to find someplace else to live.

Full service club with a nice indoor range for pistol, a skeet range, archery range with wildlife dummy targets, 100 yard and 300 yard covered rifle range, plinking range, steel range, bullseye pistol and a make your own. Fees are reasonable. Never full, even on weekends.

When I became a member in 2015, I thought this place was elitist and snobbish. Im very happy I decided to do it anyway, its been great and only the shotgun people are snobby! ha, just kidding.Recommended.
