Brought our daughter here (and her brothers), shes an artist. Great prices and great selection!! She was very happy to find this store and I was impressed by the selection available. Theres also a bulletin board with posting about art/artist/opportunities in the community. Overall we recommed this location to artist and anyone interested in art.

The staff here is outstanding! I was looking for a bunch of paints for classes Im teaching, and not only did they put together my sizable order for pick up, they even called their other stores to get me the missing pieces! They make the whole process so easy and safe. Theyre the best!

Decent selections in all inventory, but still missing odd, common tools like haké brushes, Sumi-I section, a decent pan watercolor selection (most are tubed), the fancy metallic watercolor pan sets are empty (customer must fill them) and cost more to fill than those already filled, a bleak Enkaustikos presence dominated by overpriced R&F in the wax section, and single silicone-tipped Tombow pens. Weird because you can often find some of these items in non-art supply stores. The staff is nice but not great at customer service or problem solving, but they are nice people. Prices vary greatly but are generally cheaper than most brick-n-mortar retail art stores. If you do not know art supplies, you may want to skip this location because the staff has only once explained an item accurately (i used to own an art supply store so im critical but thorough). Otherwise, its within walking distance of the New Bern light rail stop and most art supply stores are fun by default. Just wish the staff were better trained and more outgoing in helping customers instead of hiding behind the counters most of the time.

Great store. Cheaper than Amazon. You can also call the store to put your order together for when you come to get it. If they dont have your item, they get 2 trucks in a week and will order for you.

A small art shop that seems to have it all! This little place specializes in art in the most traditional sense of the word. Whereas in Michaels or other such stores they offer a variety of crafting, decor, and art supplies, Cheap Joes gives you a good selection of supplies specific to what your art professor would consider true art, ranging from canvases to easels to design paper to scrap wood, they have anything you can imagine for your next project. Even if youre not an artist, its still cool to pop in here. You might just be inspired!

This location has a broader selection of items than the Boone store! Staff was attentive and knowledgeable to boot! (Staff is awesome in Boone too...just to be clear!)

I live two hours away from the Charlotte store, and when it was located in the Galleria Shopping Center, it was worth the drive. I found the staff there to be helpful and friendly, and the store well-stocked. The new location was such a disappointment in all aspects - - location, stock, and staff. This was definitely not a move up or an improvement. The female staff were polite, but the guy got pretty defensive telling me that the product I wanted was not stocked there. Rather than go into a detailed description, Ill just say this: if someone tells you that theyve driven two hours to shop in your store, its an exceptionally bad idea to whinge about how you cant carry everything in the catalog. Nobody expects you to stock the entire catalog, and most of us are perfectly capable of ordering online. Dont make us wish we hadnt put forth the effort to come to your store.To potential customers, if you have to drive more than five minutes to this store, definitely call first to ask if it stocks whatever you are after. Ive been in the habit of dropping by the Charlotte store for several years, but after today, I wont bother. The Boone store is great, and the staff there is awesome, so shop there if you can. If you are in Charlotte Id try Binders instead.

This is a great place for reasonably priced art supplies. They are very friendly and helpful. My third grade son is really getting into art. They have given me great advice on supplies for him to try without spending too much.

The best professional art store in the Charlotte region. The staff are professional, knowledgeable and very helpful. If youre wanting to try something different than whats available in the big box stores then this is the place. Truly artist grade materials are found here. Highly recommend.

Ive been here several times... This store has something that is very different from say... a Michaels store (I love Michaels btw....) This store has employees that LOVE their art... They know what you are talking about even if you are a beginner and dont have the right terminology. I know that their job is to sell stuff... but they suggest things that can help with your particular art... I like that you can sample a lot of things there, and they have a great selection of supplies. When you ask about a something... many of them can tell you their experience with it... and that is REALLY helpful.Its a painters heaven... and.... there are other mediums there that can try. Their brand of brushes is really nice and affordable. In case I didnt make myself clear... the people that work there are the best.... they are willing to engage with you and even look at your scribbley lines or paintings and give you encouragement.Frankly.... here is a piece of advice. DONT go there thinking that it will be a Quick Run... because it wont be. On my last visit... I had a list of 3 things... and not only managed to stay there for over an hour... but got some other stuff. Looove this place... :)

I was super excited to find an actual art store in Charlotte! I was disappointed by the lack of choices in mechanical pencils and journal supplies. But if you need anything else art, they have it!

Changed locations. Another 1/2 hr added to 50 min drive. Downsized inventory. Selection is not worth the drive. Changed out real artist staff for younger ones who didnt have a clue what I was looking. Binders is 20 min closer much better selection and prices are about the same. Cheap Joes just got REAL CHEAP !!

I cant say enough about the staff. From the moment, you walk in you will realize that the attitude in the store is that YOU are the reason they are there. The staff is knowledgeable, there is always someone in the store who can answer your questions. The inventory surpasses anything you will find in any such store in Charlotte. They are rarely out of stock. As far as price, they are about 30% less expensive than other art supply retailers in Charlotte. I defy you to find an item sold in Cheap Joes in any other store in town for a lower price.

I went there to get supplies for my first painting class at my local community college. The staff was friendly and attentive. They looked at the list and got what I needed to start the class. The prices were great. I will be back when the snow melts to get more supplies now that I have an idea of certain brands of paint I would like to experiment with.
