We liked this campground, but probably wouldn’t come back. It’s very peaceful and serene when empty and the lake is beautiful. Why wouldn’t we return? When we arrived it was empty, but 2 days later at the start of LDW it was completely full, the bathrooms were disgusting, and despite all the “rules” they had about curfew, small groups and social distancing, I didn’t see any being enforced. They have canoes for hire which is great, we thought it was a little steep at $50 + deposit.

This place is huge but it dosent feel like it. I think theres in excess of 300 various sized camp sites. No electricity at most of the sites Ive seen but that does not stop the fun. Showers are pay and pretty clean. Lake is nice for a kayak or canoe

The park itself is really pretty. Woodsy, shady sites with a fire pit and a picnic table. No water, no electric. Pay showers were available with portajons and real flush toilets (They kept both pretty clean). The lake was beautiful though the beach access was tiny. The sites are right on top of one another though. Because of Covid they had every other neighbor site closed so that was great. Under normal circumstances it wouldve been way too tight. The best thing about this campground was the proximity to some great beaches. East Beach was literally a 5 minute drive. You cant beat that.

Burlingame state park is a large state park with a lot of campsites and great facilities. What I loved is- Theres a lot of sites that have great privacy- The sites are quite well maintained- The location of the cabins is great. Some of them almost have a private beach. Especially the L, M, N.- Theres a lot to do for the kids- Park is not too far from a decent urbanish area.A couple of things I didnt like- Toilets and shower can be a bit of a walk. Although they have porta potties at regular distances- The information on trails and activities wasnt as great- There isnt much terrain, so dont have a lit of hiking. But its due to the location and less due to park itself.

Decent camping weekend. Wouldn’t come back though unless I had to. Grounds were nice, bathrooms well kept, and the camp store had good supplies.Something to note - if you are looking for a quiet and/or secluded weekend away, this campground is not the place. Lots of big families, multi-car/multi-tent sites all pretty close together. Also the swimming area was completely packed by 10AM.Friday afternoon we saw lots of patrolling happening by staff, but they disappeared come sundown. So, Friday night was extremely loud, there were large groups up and about with music bumping past 1AM. Saturday and Sunday night were much, much quieter. Also, if you are concerned about potential COVID transmission like I am, it’s pretty astonishing to see Friday afternoon check-in so chaotic and unorganized. People flooding the parking lot with no face coverings, people smoking in line, not maintaining 6ft. and there were no staff outside of the building to coordinate any such protocols. Also, I only saw one other woman in my three nights of stay in the 500 loop bathroom who wore a mask in there. Very disheartening, but that part is not the campground’s fault.

The park is nice; bath house was clean. The firepit is just a circle of stones, so make sure you bring your own grill or camp stove. Water is a good distance from a lot of the sites, but they have strict rules about washing dishes at the spigot and camp sites, yet theres no other place to do that. Also, we went during COVID...theyre at half-capacity, but theyve clustered everyone together instead of spaced apart! Lots of people werent wearing masks in the store or in the bath house.I really wanted to like this place, but we ended up leaving the 2nd day - mostly because of people not respecting others space. Maybe when COVID goes away it will be a better experience.

Went for a week with family and my 3 year old son and 10 year old nephew both whom never camped before, and it was amazing until the last night of our stay when a man who was also camping threatened us and another group of campers with knives saying he was going to kill us. It took park rangers too long to get to our site and when they did come all they could do was tell him to stop is what they told us. The park rangers were so young and scared. 911 was called and the man was arrested but after that we were packing to leave right then and was told to be quiet and get to sleep by park rangers which to me is rude we were scared to death and so were the Kids which we were trying to calm down, my niece and her boyfriend were so scared they had the police escort them off the property and left and we were definitely leaving also. Never been so scared in my life and none of the kids want to ever camp again and I don’t think I do either.

It is a beautiful place. If you dont mind noise most of the night then you will love it. We were just there for Labor Day weekend 2020. The wardens drive around all day but seem to disappear at night. The first 2 nights the people a few sites from us partied until around 3:30 AM. Loud music and foul language. We talked to several other folks from other areas and they had similar issues. We will not go back.

The wife and I stayed here a few years back as did several other friends/couples. We had a great time. We played a lot of volleyball. Alcohol is not allowed here, although I know people were able to sneak in some delightfully enjoyable drinks. I also know people had their beer confiscated at the gate. It is a nice, tranquil setting, away from the city. The weekend was enjoyable and I would definitely come back here again in the future, especially if we can get the whole crew synced up to all meet here together again...Good times

The shower houses are disgusting. There is no privacy or space between sites. The beach area is like something of ghetto. It looks like South Providence. The rangers take their jobs way too seriously and will think nothing of ripping your kids out of sleep at 7am. Good luck. Its a dump and the managers are awful. The kid that checked me in didnt even check my drivers license. Also the place houses level III sex offenders.

WARNING: This campground is a public health disaster. There was an hour long line at check-in this Friday. Mask wearing was at most at 40%. Many 20-30 years old were socializing in large groups and not wearing masks. Once on the campground, people are treating the campground like their own homes. I did not see a mask once, not even INSIDE the bathroom facilities. While the campground is well maintained and the facilities are cleaned, the behaviors surrounding social distancing and mask wearing are disastrous.

The facility itself is wonderful and going on the last week open in October we found the camp mostly empty. If this review was only about my camp site and time it would be a 5. Unfortunately on our last night we had noticed an error in booking. We had thought and verbally confirmed we would leave on Saturday morning but found out Friday that we actually got booked one day short. Instead of the staff working with us or trying to accommodate the fact it was late in the afternoon and we had all of our stuff un packed we were told we could only pack up and leave or find a new site. The staff was very rude and would not allow us any understanding. We had planned and had thought we had booked 8 nights, it was unfortunate that the only response park staff could give us was get out of my park. Disappointing end but if you dont have any bureaucratic issues its a wonderful campground.

Terrible experience, will never go there again. Line for check in was about 30-40 min. They offer nothing on site, better off camping in your backyard. All workers are on a power trip and they’re waiting and eager to catch you. We had one can of trulys out and we got kicked out and the police called for an “altercation “ when nothing really happened. There is a lot of better campsites than this. Would not recommend to anyone.

My family and I absolutely love this state park for camping! It’s peaceful, beautiful, we hike and explore trails, bike, canoe, go to the onsite beach and the surrounding beaches. You do pay for showers. We make at least 2 trips here every summer. Definitely a Rhode Island favorite for us.

Great place to camp and let the kids have fun. The shower situation is not as great as it could be... but its camping. Great experience, nice location, weather and commute to the beach. Get up in the morning and go to the beach. Need more stalls and bathing spots as it tends to get busy at the site we were. I think there are renovations planned and until then they have port a potty that are all over the park. The sites are a bit close especially if you get one in the middle as you will be sharing the 3 sides with the other camp sites. I did get network so it is quite easy if you need to be accessible. Very busy on 4th July weekend. The camp store was pretty good and had everything we needed including my new favorite pop corn tray.

I had to satisfy my morbid curiosity about whether camping on a holiday weekend is truly as bad as other reviewers say. Portajohns were cleaned daily, so that was good. Campground rules were entirely unenforced, I spent the 4th of July next to a couple adjoining sites with 6 cars, at least as many tents, beer pong, sweet tunes and no bedtime.

This park is not a good place to be alone or isolated. Campsites are right on top of each other and there is zero privacy. I just spent the night there and our campsite was right in front of the bathrooms and on the road. All night I could hear toilets flushing and children screaming. Cars continuously woke me up in the night from driving.Another thing that upset me was after my boyfriend and I went on a 7.5 mile bike ride, I tried to take a shower and realized that showers cost money. It is 75 cents for a 3 minute shower. I have never been to a campground that charges people to shower, and of course we didnt have quarters. Yesterday was very hot and humid and honestly if I knew that I had to pay for a shower I wouldnt have gone on the ride. I had to use water bottles because there was no faucet to grab water from, at least not near me. I was just very uncomfortable and overall the experience wasnt that great. It might be good for someone else, but just check on the website and be prepared if you do come to the park.

This is a beautiful wooded park with huge campsites. There was one good trail but no dog friendly beach here. That said, there are serious issues here: Despite incessant ranger patrols and an alcohol ban, sites were packed by groups--7 tents at one, 3 trailers at another, the rule more than the exception, so that people and dogs often got into altercations. One unleashed so many F-bombs, in an area with 20 or so children present. The cleaning schedule is erratic, 7 one morning, 9:30 the next, so that its not only hard to manage morning necessities, but hard to believe how filthy the bathrooms are. At the price they charge they should do better.

Covid-19 has some perks believe it or not. Best visit Ive ever had there. Weve been camping there on and off since 1982. The place is not crowded, the bathroom in my area (400) was very clean...at all times. I never waited in line for the showers or restroom. Shower curtains Clean! WOW! There are four(4) showered stalls in the 400 area facilities building. One handicap stall 3 regular. The #2 showerhead was normal, water hot. Great if your camping on cooler nights. The #3 showerhead was so strong it would damage your eyes if you didnt blink in time. It actually hurt my face, super uncomfortable but again, nice hot water. The #4 showerhead left you trying to catch the water. The showerhead sprays AROUND you. Nearly impossible to rid yourself of any lather and suds. Nice hot water with normal spray pressure. Boring info unless your in need of it. Fore warned is fore armed.

Burlingame has a beautiful campground with a lake for swimming and boating, marina, hiking trails, and a picnic area with a pavilion and BBQ grills. All of the campsites are primitive, no hookups, but theres plenty of space and trees for shade. I was there in the middle of the week at the end of August and there were very few campers. A nice place to get away from it all. Campsites are $18/night for Rhode Island residents, but out of state residents last double, which is a lot for a primitive campsite. The camp store was reasonably well stocked and had good coffee.

Six cousins (aged 15-20) on their first camping experience without an adult/parent - no alcohol, before quiet hour of 10 pm, so even if they were being a bit noisy, which they werent, should not be an issue, were harassed by a park ranger - sadly they did not get his name or Id share it - who used profanity, threat of a fine, eviction, revoking privileges for the remaining season, and waking them at 6:00 a.m. the next morning to kick them out...all for burning the dead wood found in the woods of the campground, but mostly, my guess, is because he is a bully and they were young.I have combed the 21 page manual, which I recommend you read before visiting this campground/park, and spoken to the manager, Kyle, who was awesome by the way, and there is no posting other than in the office re: the use of dead wood in the park. This ranger was unprofessional! We will not visit this campground again and we will not, do not recommend this site to anyone that is going to be without an adult or someone that is comfortable enough to speak up for themselves.
