Such a treat. All animals are specific to North America. Loved that. Lots of animals. Loved the aviary.

The Animal Forest at Charles Towne Landing in West Ashley is on of my favorite features about the park and the only fully functioning zoo in the area. I like that all of the animals featured are connected to South Carolina and it is fun to learn about them. My favorite ones to watch are the bears, bisons, and birds.

Animals are too far apart so you have to do a ton of walking and aren’t allowed to take drinks inside with you, some exhibits were closed due to COVID but that was understandable. Lots and lots of big writing spiders everywhere.

Enjoyed spending time with my family here because I dont get a lot of time to spend with my loved ones, but........Im sad to say that these poor animals were suffering from malnutrition to say the least. All of the wolves looked as though bugs were eating their poor ears up. One of those babies was missing the tips of its ears. One of the bears (that was laying against the fence) had a chunk of hair missing from its back left leg. He or she obviously had some sort of infection from the looks of the wounds. The otter & birds water was disgusting. The puma was very skinny & sickly.I do understand that all of these issues happen naturally in nature, but thats just the thing.....These caretakers are to mimic natural habitats while also making sure these sweet babies are well taken care of & whomever is responsible should be down right ashamed.I wont be returning until something changes & those animals get the proper care & love they need & deserve.

A beautiful place, not too many animals but it fulfills its purpose, showing the history and animals exist there in thr past.Nice to walk it, beautiful trees and it is a good way to bring kids close to nature. Tickets are not that expensive and they totally worth every cent. After that, go to folly beach and you had an amazing day.

This is a really good place to bring kids of you want to test out going to the zoo. Its smaller and mostly shaded. My kids love going. Plus, you can walk around the rest of the park and take in all the historic site areas too.

Beautiful place that we didnt thoroughly get to enjoy like we wanted because nature in the South is scary! I saw a big snake cross our path on a narrow walking path and I ran like my life depended on it. I hate snakes, and I am not afraid to admit it. They freak me out. From that point forward I was only looking out for snakes and nervous as heck. My wife and I were weirded out and left shortly after. The wilderness in Charleston, SC is like watching an episode of 101 ways to die. Its the Everglades of SC. I imagine that this is how people in Australia live their lives. Just waiting for a random deadly spider, snake, or crazy reptile to kill you. Id rather risk a bear attack in the midwest than an alligator or snake encounter in the south. But I still love SC, and the city of Charleston.

We walked through the park a couple of times since out hotel was close by. We walked in the early morning when the park was empty to get some exerciser. We really enjoyed the evening and as the sunset the mood was stunning.

Animal Forest was a great part of Charles Towne Landing. The animals had wonderful habitats and the informational signs were detailed and really interesting. The animals all appeared happy and had enrichment and ample space. Animal Forest is worth the admission to the park alone.

Great walk, animals are fun to see. I can get in my 10,000 steps walking through the animal trail then a,little more. Makes walking easier when the surroundings are beautiful.

This is a wonderful little zoo right in the heart of Charleston. All the animals are indigenous to the area, which makes this a small history lesson in addition to a zoo. They have an outdoor classroom for school groups, too. Very nice little park, my kids loved it.

It was a great visit but most of the animals were hibernating under the shade and I do not blame them because it was hot but overall a great experience will definitely go back.. make sure to take insect spray

First time going since Hurricane Hugo devestated this place in 1989. I went in looking for a duplicate of what I remember. The forest is much better now, but needs the snakes back!

The walk is nice. Only saw a couple animals, a lot of exhibits were closed and the ones that werent, the animals were hiding. Not much to do about that though. Great scenery.
