James Island Recreation Complex on Quail Drive on James Island is a well maintained recreation center that offers a lot of features including a basketball court, athletic fields, multiple playgrounds, a picnic area, and an outdoor swimming pool among others. It is good to be able to do so many activities in one place and have so much space to run around. This is a really good recreation center.

Nice community center for the kids. We went for a 5 to 6 year old basketball game.So funny to watch especially if your kid isnt the one playing.I did find it funny that people just parked on the grass with plenty of parking spots available. Must have been a rough day at work that prevented them from walking an extra 10 feet.

Been going for over 20 years and they have always maintained the property. They have slot of activities/sports from beginners on up and all different ages. Glad to see this place is still around.

Good luck getting in for swim lessons!! We were told by 3 different employees that we could register for swim classes online so at 9am sharp we went online only to find out that was incorrect. Could get no one on the phone so my husband went down and got in line, waited for almost 2 hours (with lots of other folks who were in the same position he was in!) only to be told that everything was sold out. There were 2 people (2!) to help process all of these applications. One of the ladies in line kindly went in and got copies of the applications to hand out to people in line, since no one from the rec center thought to do that. Very disappointing that they haven’t figured out a more efficient way to handle this in all of the years of offering these lessons.

Great outreach to community with sports for all ages. Basketball inside, baseball summer. Many opportunities to help children learn sports on their beautiful fields. Swimming pool in season.

Wonderful! we are in the aquatics program every year. Great service for the price. my kids love it. they both learned how to swim at JI Rec Center.

Great spot to take kids and pets. Water park is top notch.

Worst facility Ive ever brought my kids too. Parking lot is completely black, not a single light. Im amazed a child hasnt been hit by a car. My little one fell in a hole in the pitch black parking lot and if it wasnt for me holding her hand she could have really gotten hurt. Until they address the safety issues, they should not be allowed to host events.

Great outdoor park facilities and baseball softball fields. Theres also a small dog park that few people know about on JI. We go to the JI Rec center at least 2 times a week. Its too bad Hurricane Matthew damaged the back playground..my son loved that structure.

My granddaughter played volleyball there. Too noisy and hot!!

Its a little rec center but we have been pleased with all the sports and activities they offer at great prices.

Looking for Zumba in James Island. Kim is the best Zumba instructor in James Island. She plays the hottest music and you can get great workout. Just $5 for drop in. If you live in the James Island, you must go to her classes on Tuesday 7:30pm and Thursday 7pm

This facility offers a variety of rec league sports for various ages, some adult classes, swim lessons, gymnastics, and camps. There are 2 playgrounds available, a shaded dog park, indoor basketball court, and several baseball/softball fields.

Great place to play any sport for all ages!
