We had the best time! My wife and I took our 2 boys (7 and 12) on a 3 hour trip with Mike and it was perfect! He was very open, honest and flexible with our trip and fulfilled all of our expectations! Mike kept us educated on the area and the marine life while putting us on the fish we wanted to catch. My son wanted a shark for shark week and dad wanted the best fish biting. We got our sharks, reds a big ray among other things. I would highly recommend avid angler and will call again next time we are in the area!

Couldnt ask for anything better. A client and I went on a full day charter with Avid Angling and hit a home run!!! Went bottom jigging for some deep reds and sea bass and hooked a monster. Avid Angling was nothing but top notch individuals to deal with and paid special attention to make sure my client was having a good time and catching fish. I am a seasoned fishermen but my client was a true novice, and Mike went over the basics and made everyone on the boat extremely comfortable and happy. If your looking for a nice client treat or just a great day out on the water with friends; this is the place for sure!!!! I am already planning a return trip back with the Avid Angling crew very soon.

Capt Mike was pretty awesome! A couple of us from our group hit a couple bumps along the way but he was patient with us and still able to give us a great fishing experience. He put us on some good fish and we caught five different species in just a few hours. Hes very knowledgeable about angling and how to show us a good time. Mike and his company have it all figured out! We had an amazing experience! All the kids had the time of their lives. Mike was able to handle little kids to adults with patience and kindness even when there were multiple lines in the water producing multiple fish! He fully understands the customer! He was engaging the kids and adults at the same time. He truly has a passion for what he is doing and enjoys the process. We have tried other providers and Mike is clearly the best. We called captain Mike at the last minute to see if he had time for a charter on Monday morning. Luckily he had a spot because we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We are fairly experienced fisher people so we hoped for the best without understanding what to expect or the area. Captain Mike arrived early and was ready to pull out at our designated time. We went to one of his favorite spots to start and found it was absolutely bustling with fish. I have never seen anything like it. We threw in and proceeded to catch constantly for the next 2 hours. Threw the line out, 3-4 bites, and fish on nearly every time. It was so much fun and we learned quickly that bluefish love the fight which made the experience even better. After seeing the biggest sea turtle of my life and landing over 15 fish a piece, we moved in to go shark fishing. At this point I hoped for the best but once again didn’t have much expectation because I figured it might be the luck of the draw. With 2 hours left in our charter, both my husband and myself caught 2 big sharks a piece and I landed a nice sized stingray. It was definitely a trip to remember an captain Mike made it even better. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, nice, helpful, hardworking guide, you can look no further. If we’re coming back through this area we know who to call. Literally could not have hoped for a better day on the water.

As a charter captain I can recognize someone who has honed their craft. Mikes got a knowledge of fishing but what really strikes me is his willingness to share his knowledge of an ecosystem that he has spent much of his time on. Awesome experience will definitely be back again! Highly recommend!

We almost didnt go fishing since it was February! We are SO GLAD we went with Mike!!! We think we got 28-30 fish, many well over 5 pounds and one 16 inch flounder ( we even cut our 4 hour trip short by 40 minutes because of the gnats). Mike is so down to earth but so very knowledgeable about where the great spots are. Well call him AGAIN!

Great day...Mike was awesome and super helpful with two first time fisher women not to mention putting us on a nice red fish spot then explaining all the awesome details of the shoreline and ecosystem in Charleston...well be back with him no doubt! Captain Mike picked two of us up from the boat dock in Awendaw. We had the best experience catching red drum and seeing dolphins. He was very well prepared, on time, and it is obvious that he is a professional! He has special fishing spots in mind and tailors your tour to your desires. He also offers skeet shooting from the boat with biodegrade wads which we didn’t do this time around but I thought it was very unique and would like to try next time. He had good communication leading up to the trip and I would recommend to everyone visiting town.

Ive been on three charters with Captain Mike and have had an absolute blast each and every time! Ive done inshore twice and nearshore once and weve caught plenty of fish (and a 6 shark and a stingray with an 8 wingspan) including redfish, flounder, wreckfish, etc. I highly recommend!

Had an incredible half day out with these guys. They were very accommodating with our 10 anglers. We averaged 10 fish per angler! The dock they use is a little out of the heart of Charleston but it made it nice to get to the fishing area much faster and we didn’t see other charters. Very professional and friendly operation.

I spend close to 250 days a year on the inshore waters of Charleston and I see Capt. Mike from avid angling nearly everyday. If you want to find the fish, you need a guide who puts in the time, so naturally when I needed a fishing guide I called Mike. My husband and I recently returned from a day long fishing trip with Captain Mike and we had an absolute blast!!!! The weather was beautiful and the scenery was spectacular. We were catching fish right from the start. Will happily go back and recommend all my friends and family to Avid Angling, they are an amazing day away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston.
