In what other studio can you sit in a swing while admiring the art? What a fun place! Beautiful artwork, friendly staff and interesting finds hidden everywhere. All the artists have fascinating work displayed. The best gallery we visited on our trip.

The studio is such a wonderful place! It started off as a cute place downtown to kill some time, but the artwork that they showcase is incredible! The spaces are very interactive and versatile. The whole studio feels like a breath of fresh air and has little activities such as swinging, playing the piano, and the rock towers upstairs. I would recommend people go and visit because if youre lucky youll be able to catch the artists as they work!

This is one of my favorite galleries ever. All the artists featured make beautiful work, and even hang out and paint. It is a very interactive and welcoming gallery. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. There is a variety of types of art too. The coffee table with the sand art and magnets blew my mind! Roberts art is still some of the best contemporary paintings Ive seen in awhile. His Sean Brock vegetable still life will forever be one of my favorites. Whenever I am in Charleston I have to stop in and see whats new. Definitely make this a stop if your traveling to or through. Its just a block or 2 from the waterfront park.

As a former resident of Charleston, I was already familiar with the Robert Lange Gallery, and I follow their social media accounts to keep up on exhibitions. But I still made a point to stop in on a recent trip to Charleston from NYC. Its worth it! I know I can always count on seeing something new and different and leaving the gallery inspired. Even the ever-popular local landscapes are represented here with a freshness of interpretation and technique. The space itself is welcoming, full of warm wood and light, and separated into different rooms filled with paintings and sculptures. There are various prompts throughout the space, encouraging the viewer to creatively participate in art-making. A couple of artist workspaces are on view, and I get the impression you can watch live painting if you are visiting during their studio hours. The art represented in this gallery is vibrant, skillfully executed, and definitely worth seeing in person. Highly recommend!

Robert Lange Studios is an awesome art gallery and event space in Charleston. I like how the gallery is interactive and has a wide variety of different art styles all in one location. The atmosphere and vibe of this gallery is very creative and inspiring and I often leave feeling much better than when I walk in. I look forward to getting more involved in art in Charleston and this Robert Lange Studios has inspired me to do so.

On a trip to Charleston my friend and I wandered into this amazing art gallery after seeing some beautiful paintings in the window and some great signage. We spent close to 40 minutes in the gallery going back to some pieces multiple times before leaving because we were so taken by them and wished we could back again before leaving the city. There are two studios in the gallery where artists sometimes are actually painting and visitors can watch which is incredible and so special! It was easily our favorite part of the trip and were so excited to be introduced to such amazing artwork and artists. Hope to go back someday!

After a long flight and a rainy ride to Robert Lange Studios we weary travelers were welcomed so warmly at this spectacular gallery. The owners and staff treated us like family and took time with us when we had inquiries about paintings we were interested in. And this was on a gallery opening night when the gallery was packed with other interested collectors. When you are in Charleston, take time to stop and view the incredible artists shown here. We just happened upon this gallery while wandering the city. Its amazing. The art that was up while we were there was all absolutely amazing and very very impressive. There were also a surprising amount of opportunities for interaction (playing piano, a swing, rock stacking) which would be good for young kids. There are also opportunities to sit and watch the artists paint if they happen to be there. I would definitely recommend taking a stroll through the gallery if youre in the area.

This is the best art gallery I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. It is housed in a gorgeous, modernly decorated building; there are surprises on the walls and ceilings; and is even a fun place for kids, as there is a swing and a place to make your own rock towers. The hyper-realism in this gallery amazes me, and was even able to make my husband a fan, who is not very into art. I highly recommend visiting this gallery while you are in town! I tell everyone it is my favorite gallery, although Im from Atlanta!

We have visited this gallery time and time again and we are always blown away. The staff is amazingly friendly and even gave our son a sketchbook and encouraged him to pursue his dream of being an artist. The gallery gave us such a warm welcome and we truly felt that the they stood behind the “art is for everyone” sign hanging on the wall. We fell in love with a painting and they even let us break it up into payments so we could bring it home and still stay within the family budget. I can’t say enough good things about this place! While the Art Walks (the first Friday of every month) can get a little crowded it is still very much worth a visit. This is not just an art gallery, its a unique art experience. Paintings are well spaced with intimate lighting and sofas that encourage you to relate to the art as if in your own home. RLS boasts an exceptional collection of art that is unlike anything else in Charleston! They have a kind and welcoming staff, the artists themselves are frequently there (working and painting) and you can always expect to be greeted with a smile. On my most recent trip to Charleston we wandered into this gallery, and what a pleasant surprise. RLS is a vivid display of interesting, thought provoking art. Most of it is paintings, but they also had some photography and sculptures. Even the studio itself is a work of art with beautiful architecture, furniture, and a piano! If youre lucky you can even see Robert working in the studio like I did. He has a set up right in the middle of the studio. He is very knowledgeable and is happy to answer questions and explain both his methodology and inspiration. The works vary in price, but a majority were in the $2000-7000 range. The staff was friendly and not pushy -- the gallery is owned by Robert and his wife, and they are often on site. Even if you dont purchase anything they welcome visitors to wander around and enjoy the art. If youre an art lover, this gallery cant be missed.

Ive only been to Charleston a few times, but every time I make an effort to visit Robert Lange Studios. Whether you like a conservative spin on surrealism (Robert Lange), watercolor (Ali Cavanaugh), portraits and figures (Kerry Brooks), dark and stormy landscapes (Adam Hall), or New England inspired landscapes (Megan Aline), there is something for everyone. This studio remains my favorite even among those in Aspen, CO, and Carmel, CA. The exposed brick and beamed ceilings are warm and inviting enough to keep you there well past the typical studios allotted browse through. If youre so lucky, you may even see Robert upstairs painting. I tell all friends traveling to Charleston that this is the gallery they cannot miss.

Charleston has so many shops with paintings available it might seem like a daunting task to filter through them and find one that truly offers ART. Robert Lange Studios should be first on your list. There is such a variety of fine artists that everyone should be able to find something inspiring and beautiful to enjoy. The staff there is welcoming and knowledgable about all of the artists and you never feel rushed or ignored. There are frequently artists either painting or present and encourage questions. This is a must visit if you are in Charleston. It wont be the last time you visit.

After 5 years in Charleston, RLS remains my favorite gallery to visit, especially on First Fridays, when the crowds are out exploring the many art galleries in downtown Charleston. I love the welcoming atmosphere and laid-back feel (where else can you see a functioning swing suspended from the ceiling in a gallery?). It is the perfect place to duck into on a rainy day or for a break from the hustle and bustle of East Bay or Market Street. Take your time and wander from room to room, taking in the ever-changing, beautiful works on display - you wont be disappointed.

So Im just having a nice Charleston stroll, and my friend and I come across this art studio. We think it looks cool, so we check it out. Yup, it houses some very good work from very different artists. The interior of the place makes it a neat experience just to walk around. The staff was friendly, as if you already knew them. Often an art gallery can be an uncomfortable place because the management is far too worried with selling to understand that the experience is what makes people come back, and these people understand that.Regardless if you plan to buy or just simply want to be inspired, its a very neat little nook of Charleston to check out.

Robert Lange Studios is our favorite art gallery in Charleston. We stumbled upon the unique gallery on our first trip to Charleston and were amazed by Roberts photorealistic paintings. All of the artists who have paintings or sculptures in the studio are amazingly talented and unique. Now, we always make it a point to visit the gallery every time we visit Charleston and we enjoy seeing the artists works around Charleston too, at places such at the Vendue.Recently I commissioned Robert to make a painting as a wedding gift for my now husband. Robert and his team were professional and fun to work with throughout the process, from selecting a subject, to giving me sneak peeks of the work in progress, to revealing the painting in the gallery. They even put a special note under the painting and offered to set up a camera to snap a picture of my husbands face when he saw the painting. The experience was a memorable moment in our wedding weekend and the painting turned out better than I even imagined.
