We took some kids from our family to the Saturday family time. They really enjoyed it. They adults in the group also had fun so I’m thrilled. Now we need to go back without the kids for the whole exp.

The improv is terrible. I cant see why anyone would take a class from people that arent even good at the skill.

This. Place. Rocks!Okay, not only is this place just darn beautiful, but funny people congregate here just to entertain you. This is literally the hottest thing with pants on in the triangle. What to expect:- a cover charge- beer and pop at the bar- red paint EVERYWHERE (and its classy)- someone in the sound booth (A.K.A. God)Yeah, youll laugh. Hell, you might even not. But by golly youll have a knowing in your sweet, little heart that you made the right choice in stopping by.Ive never taken a class here, but the shows are Great!!Great folks. Great time. Check it out.(Yes, its a nice date spot).

My personal experience in a class was horrible. The instructor ignored overt homophobic remarks and personal insults. Theres a fine line between comedy and personal attacks but the staff apparently doesnt care to read when an attack is too personal or insensitive. Normally, I couldnt care less what someone thinks of me personally, but in a learning context, instructors need to be more thoughtful and recognize bullying and have a duty to stop it. That didnt happen here.

Absolutely love this place! Comfy seats with a bar behind you and a coffee shop in the front. You can practically spend an entire evening here! Also they have free improv on Fridays.

The employees were fantastic. Comedy was decent. The bar is lacking; needs to be stocked better... including stocking what is offered on the menu.

The PIT is aptly named. It is a dark little dive bar with a small stage and far less seating than the photo would lead one to believe, however the folks running the place are cordial and the entertainment was good. Do be warned that they do not accept cash, only cards... which they process on a tablet like a flea market vendor. All in all, I enjoyed the place and would recommend it.

The founder Ali is hilarious and gave us all and LOL. This is venue is small, but has a lot of potential. Granted some performers were funnier than others, but in the end you’ll walk away satisfied. You can bring your own food in as long as you’re watching a show and ordering some drinks from them. Good vibes.

Good comedy, more people need to visit this new jewel in Chapel Hill. Open mike on Friday nights at 11, special guests, classes, corporate team building, and a full bar! Public parking directly across the street. What more could you ask for? 4 stars because they only take credit cards, please start accepting cash

Awesome experience. Cant wait to go back. I did the standup bracket and felt bad we had to vote for a winner each round because they were all so funny. I am excited for them to get their alcohol license, the bar looks amazing with the new setup.

Ali is doing a cool thing for the local comedy community. Very cool space for shows and improv classes. This place is going to put Chapel Hill on the map for comedy.Update: Ive been hanging out here for over a year and have take 2 of the improv classes and have seen a bunch of shows, and have had the opportunity to perform a few times. All the staff and instructors are great. A lot of hard work is being put into growing the scene down here. Very inclusive and a safe place to try comedy. If youve ever felt the urge to explore improv or performing, but have been too afraid to try it out, youre in good hands. Judgement free and very supportive.

Saw Brian Tucker, head writer for Saturday Night Live, in a very intimate setting. Was able to talk with him at length. He was interviewed by Ali Farahnakian, The PITs owner for a pod cast. Brian (UNC class of 93) said when he was getting started in standup there were no comedy clubs in Chapel Hill and was glad to see one here now. The Peoples Improv Theater is currently undergoing renovations and will be open for business and teaching classes in comedy & improv in the coming months. Ali Faranakian owns two successful comedy clubs in New York City. Its great to know that Chapel Hill will soon have its own BIG CITY COMEDY CLUB!
