Had a blast visiting this museum. Even with the temporary closure of some of the exhibits (due to construction) and the theater and observation deck (due to Covid) it was well worth the trip. Getting up-close and personal with the Space Shuttle Discovery, the SR-71 Blackbird, and the Apollo 11 command module were all highlights.

Great place to visit during the pandemic. Timed tickets ensured that there was plenty of space to feel safe even indoors. We went on a Sunday afternoon and the place felt empty. We were able to do the whole museum in about an hour, but we were with toddlers so they didn’t really spend much time reading. The space shuttle was the highlight for everyone!

One of the best tech museums in the world i have seen so far. So much history. All authentic, all in very good condition. Cosmic section is especially interesting. The cost of visiting this museum is free, with exception of some tours and special attraction. However they do cheat on it, taking quite a price for parking. The museum itself is in quite a distance from any closest location. However it is still absolutely walkable distance to the closest Inn, and motels, so if you good with your feet, no problem just walk in there. Highly recommend to visit.

An amazing experience! Whether youre an aviation lover or completely indifferent, the sheer magnitude of the museum will amaze. Expect to spend upwards of 2.5-3 hours wandering and exploring. With the current COVID precautions, docents around the museum talk with guests over video chat on large monitors and answer questions. Exhibits include the Space Shuttle, SR-71 Blackbird, the Concorde, and F-35.

Worth the trek from DC! This is without a doubt one of the most impressive collections of aircraft available! It’s a beautiful modern facility that never feels crowded. The more famous location is the Air and Space Museum on the National Mall, but the museum has two locations. The Udvar-Hazy (which is so fun to say) Center is the lesser-known location, but the better location. Although it is near Dulles Airport in Chantilly, VA ( a 40-minute drive from the city without traffic), heres why you should visit:1) Exhibits: There are several large hangars full of airplanes, helicopters and even the Discovery space shuttle. When its open, the Observation Deck is fun to watch the airplanes land at nearby Dulles Airport.2) Price: Its free to visit, but parking is $10 per car during the week. Not a bad price!3) Store: The store has fun stuff for kids including books about women who went into space and space ice cream!

It was a nice place to visit with a lot of history of different airplanes especially flights to outer space. I would recommend that you visit and see for yourself. Also although we got a ticket at the gate, we were not charged any fee because we got there after 4pm. But I think you will pay a fee before 4pm. Also make sure to make your reservation online before going and only take your phones and camera plus your resavations and tickets when going in and payment methods. They have to check you so the less you carry the easy it is. Dont forget you can pay for your ticket inside as they have paying machines around.

Fantastic! The buildings themselves are impressive, and what is inside amazing. The planes and spacecraft are restored with intricate detail. They have a lot of them hanging from the ceiling with elevated walks so you are able to see them up close. Informational signage is available throughout so you can understand the significance of many of the crafts. They are currently doing a roofing project on the facility, so they have a decent amount of the planes covered in plastic, so that was a little bit of a bummer, but I understand a facility like theirs requires constant maintenance. Amazing museum near Dulles airport. They are doing a great job with safety measures and cleanliness. We went on a 4:30 on a Thursday and the museum was pretty empty, which we liked. Parking is free in the lot after 4:00 p.m. Restrooms were very clean. The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is that a good 1/3 of the museum is closed including the observation deck, and the IMAX theater. Also aircrafts on one side of the hangar are covered due to the museums roof renovation. still it was a lovely visit and it felt very safe for a family of three with an 18-month-old.

We spent just over 2 hours looking and reading the exhibits that caught our attention. We had to wear masks the entire time, but air conditioning made this not so bad. I saw several people cleaning hand rails and bubbler handles, and it was very easy to socially distance from others. I felt safe the entire time.

Visited during Covid, about half the planes were covered with plastic. Portions of areas where you used to be able to roam freely were sectioned off, removing content which would of been of interest. The mix of sectioning off areas and funneling people down a specific path while also telling them to stay 6 feet apart was a bad idea, as the museum is forcefully keeping you closer together by closing sections off and making makeshift hallways where you have to brush by people when trying to get by. They have loads of interesting stuff but visiting during Covid reduces the content by half.

This is genuinely one of the biggest places Ive ever been. What I thought would take 2-3 hours at most turned out to take a whole lot more. There are so many planes and aviation equipment to see that this could take a whole day. If you are planning or thinking about coming here, know two things: its absolutely worth it and it will take a long time. There is something for everyone here, but some personal highlights include: Space shuttle Discovery, the Enola Gay, an SR-71, Felix Baumgartners capsule, an Air France Concorde, a collection of missiles, planes from WWII from both sides, expedition planes. Theres so much to see that I found myself learning new things in every aisle. From short trips to make history to long voyages around the world. We didnt even get to see everything because it was just a day trip for us, but I absolutely plan on going back next summer. The center itself is free, but there is a fee for parking.Unfortunately, I did not get to go into the observation tower on my trip. Thats the plan for next time! Please also be aware that there is food in the building, but it is incredibly marked up and when its busy, its hard to find somewhere to sit and enjoy it so plan accordingly. If you can pack a lunch, I highly suggest it.I really cant say enough with how amazing this place is. Staff is friendly, the building was clean and theres so much to discover. I believe this is the Air and Space Museum in Dulles. Things have really changed there because of the Covid virus. There is a parking fee after the first 30 minutes. Now you are greeted by a person who had to go through this big spell about the virus, verifying you havent been out of the country, and I dont even remember what else. There are new restrictions within the museum. There are employees posted all over making sure everyone is adhering to the restrictions. Also, if you go into the store, you have to follow the path. And you had better have a credit card. They are not accepting cash. The museum itself is very interesting to those that have an interest in the history of flying. The exhibits are great. One thing they have started is free parking days. You can go online and find out what day of the week they are offering free parking. Just so you know, its about $15 to park. Before the virus, there use to be quite a crowd. But because of restrictions, there are a lot less people. The best time to go is in the morning. By the afternoon they have more people and you may have to wait outside until some of the people leave. I also heard something about a time limit that youre allowed to be in the museum. They established this everyone could have time in the museum. Before the Covid virus, they used to have special events.
