One of my favorite parks in champaign. Plenty of trees for shade in the the right places. As well as open grass to throw a Frisbee and run. There are multiple pavilions and even a splash park for the kiddos.
Hessel Park is beautiful and a fun place for kids to play. Although I wouldnt recommend playing during COVID-19. But other than that, I lovw hessel park.
This park is so wonderful. Theres a great splash pad in the summer, accessible features like swings and surfaces, a large and small playground with cool features like rocks to climb, and shared swings so parents and children can swing facing each other. Plus, theres a lot of grassy areas, picnic tables, and paths to stroller along.

My son loves the park and the splash pad area. 4 stars only because the last 2 times we have gone there have been drugged out people making us feel extremely uncomfortable. I wish there was a way to keep them from entering the childrens play area. The city really needs to do something about this.

A lovely park in Champaign. It’s across from Jarling’s so it’s a great place to eat your ice cream. My dog loves walking around and there are lots of trees for shade. There are also spots for families to bring kids to play.

Its an awesome park. Places to play catch or race around with the kids. Plent of shade and tables. Splash park is wonderful and the playground has alot to do. Can easily spend half the day here.
The grass is beautifully kept with a large open space of grass taking up most of the park space. Good playground and seating
Play structures are fantastic for kids, even a little water play area thats fun during the summer. There is a path that goes around the whole park which is nice to walk around throughout all the seasons. Wonderful park to visit.

This is an AMAZING place for children. And its a great space for just about any type of family gathering. The playground is the best Ive ever seen to date. The water play area is a plus for those hot days. Theres a picnic area, as well as a tennis space,and if I remember correctly a volleyball space. The only downside is parking is limited. Overall, the Best Park.

The park has a great play-ground for kids with lots of stuff to climb on and plenty of swings (and baby swings). Theres a good bit of parking and a pavilion with a bunch of tables in it for partys. On top of that theres a bunch of trees and its all surrounding a huge open grass area with tons of room for games

Great park for family activities and gatherings
Parks got it all in a fairly small footprint. Nice concrete pathways, tennis and volleyball courts, large covered pavilion area, public bathroom, and plenty of open grass space. Kids have a splash pad play area and decent play structure.We particularly like the joint parent and tot swings, its very cool to be able to swing with your kid instead of pushing them.
What an amazing, fun park! This was my first time there I brought my nanny charge to splash around at the splash pad, the playground was also very nice, I believe its been recently renovated. There are walking paths and picnic areas as well. Everything looked clean and taken care of.
Great place to go if your going for a run or evens a walk. Nice wide concrete track to walk around, tons of huge trees which provide shade. They also have a small water park which is great for any children who want to enjoy it.

I love this park! It has a section for toddlers and for older kids. My daughter loves it and shes moving on to the other section. (They grow up so fast!) Im not giving it five stars only because I think it needs more benches especially around the splash pad (which is awesome too!).
I like riding my bike around here. Its a great place to take your family out to as well.
This is such a great park to walk around. There are always children playing or people picnicking or dogs being walked. The path is concrete, in good condition, measured and curved so it feels like a meandering stroll.

Great wide open spaces for your dog or your blanket and good book. Not to mention one the best playgrounds for the kids around especially on hot days with the splash park!! Depending on the day and time the park could be packed or you could have it to yourself. Also great spots after dark to look at the stars!!!!
I am a huge fan of the sidewalk path thought out the park. There are tons of very old and tall trees that provide shade throughout the park, but also plenty of open spots for those sunny days. Huge tennis courts, several pavilions and picnic tables for people. And a popular spot for all of the pokemon go players

Good place to bring the family for a BBQ, tennis (if u into that). Playground is bangin for the kids especially in the summer months. Pavilion where you family and friends can hang out chill and yep BBQ
Great place to go with kids and family. Theyre have public restroom (closes at 7pm). They have great tennis/volleyball court.
Great .6 mile walking path. Awesome splash pad for the kids in the summer. Frequently a spot for different public events as well.
Great spot for Pogo and Ingress. Oh yeah..and theres awesome playground equipment for kiddo.
One of the best parks to take the kids and great for pokemon go!
Its a great park for walking, its great for giving birthday parties, kids love the swings and the several large slides. In the Summer time the kids can play in the water sprinkler where theres always squeals of laughter and fun for the little ones. Just bring a towel to dry them off when they are tired of running through the nice cool streams of water. The park has lots of trees, and a good number of picnic tables, some covered gazebos, and of course they have built in grills for barbecuing. They also have lots of free parking and a couple of indoor toilets in visible areas. Dogs are allowed on leashes and there are poles with disposable bags for cleaning up after your dog. It is a nice park and no one wants to step in your dogs poop, so be kind and pick up after your pets. I believe some of the larger gazebo area can be rented and reserved for your family gatherings and birthday parties.

I like to make my evening walks around this park. It has tennis courts, volleyball fields, nice playground with fountains like a mini waterpark. Clean public restroom.
Great park. My kids love it! Although last time we was there. There was over crowding and ALOT of children without supervision. Hopefully our next visit will be better
This park is very large, with playgrounds for both older and younger kids, a splash pad for summers, a walking path, and lots of grass and trees. The playground itself was very cool with lots of variety for both of my kids. The walking path had little mile markers in the sidewalk, which I thought was pretty neat. The grassy area was somewhat flooded when we went, as it is hilly with high and low spots, but my biggest issue was just how crowded it was. Even though the playground is big, it seems like they need to expand to accommodate all of the kids that want to play there. I would go back, but would only do so during less busy times of the day.

The Splash Pad is always a fun thing to do in the hot summer heat! Always so nostalgic of when I was little playing at this park. Even though its revamped, it still has the same fun energy! Also, two yummy custard places right across the street!
This park is super nice, I love the winding pathways around it and there is space for kids with a playground, there are mile markers for runners, and there is a gazebo, tennis courts, and a large open field. Lots to do and there are always couples and kids hanging out. The park is about 0.8 miles around and I use it for running laps. Its also mostly shaded so its nice on a sunny day to keep cool.
