We had a most excellent time there! Well run and managed, something for every sporting clays enthusiast, and a great location/facility. You can rent or buy everything you need. I had never been here before but definitely will be going back.

Last weekend had a great experience taking the Learn to Shoot Safety Class. Instructor Rich Zaorski explained clearly the safety rules, proper gun handling, and techniques to make it easier. All members of the class hit the clay targets! For just $35 you get the class plus a free round of trap/skeet/wobble next visit. Great place to take a new shooter.

My Friend and I were going skeet shooting but first I had to learn how to shoot a shotgun. I wanted to go skeet shooting for years. Ive been to the gun range but never handled or shot a shotgun.Mr. Ken Schafer was my Instructor and he was a delight. He had me laughing and put me at ease. The lesson lasted about 30/45 minutes. I thought we were going to do some skeet shooting but we left. I cant wait to go back and do some skeet shooting. I will definitely come back again soon!!I called about a dress code I was told there wasnt one but once I got there I realized I wasnt dressed appropriately.ALL1. Make sure to wear close toed shoes so when you shoot the clay discs they dont hit your toes.2. Bring a basecall cap or some other rimmed hat so when you shoot the discs wont hit your face.3. Bring sunglasses or some other type of glasses. This will ensure nothing gets in your eyes.4. You can bring drinks - obviously no alcohol. I would check if you can bring a cooler or not.5. Bring sunscreen as there isnt much shade, except up by the deck near the building.WOMEN1. I made the mistake of wearing a tank top - DO NOT!! Wear a t-shirt with with sleeves. You want to ensure the gun doesnt slide off to your skin. It will also ensure the shotgun isnt resting on your skin.2. Consider renting or bringing a shoulder pad. Mr. Ken Schafer allowed me to use one of his shoulder pads. I didnt have any bruising but I didnt expect my should to be a little sore the next day.

Bull Run is an amazing shooting center. We are lucky to have a place like this in NOVA. The ranges are world-class and the trap operators are super cool and experienced. I shot firearms prior to coming here, but I never shot in a formal trap or skeet format before. The staff was helpful and just after a few weeks I shot my first 25. They rent shotguns and have training classes. Come here and have fun!

My family has been enjoying the Bull Run Shooting Center for 10 years and the facility continues to improve its equipment, staff training, and overall appearance. New shooters need to take the training class. If you dont know the gun, you could distract the staff and greatly affect the enjoyment of the game (Trap, Wobble, Skeet, 5 Stand, or Sporting clays) by others. Thank you to the staff for their efforts to make this a safe and enjoyable experience during any weather.

Friendly and knowledgeable instructors will help your kids get going on skeet. Just call ahead to make sure youre in the right class. Had some issues with reservations being messed up -- the online system didnt work. Just call. There are lots of options and fun group activities. Check hours and such to be sure there isnt some tournament the day you want to shoot. Also, avoid peak weekend times or there will be long waits. Just call if you need info...

Great place for skeet and trap. If its your first time, make sure you take the safety class. The staff is friendly and the station operators provide good feedback/tips if youre struggling. I find its fun to bring friends because it gets very competitive, very quickly. It can be on the expensive side, but its well worth it.

I took my 12 year old boy to shoot some clay for the first time this past Sunday. I enrolled him in the safety class to give him a good start. Mark Miller was the instructor and did a fabulous job patiently showing my son proper gun safety and teaching him the range rules and etiquette. We had a great time shooting the rest of the afternoon! I would highly recommend Mark and Bull Run shooting center!

Wow it looks like from the Google reviews from others they had a good experience with their instructors or other staff. I wish I could say the same and would have loved to have an enjoyable time like others. I don’t blame the shooting center themselves, I only blame the “What seemed to be” the young inexperienced staff member girl at the Wobble station that kicked us off our stations with no guidance or help whatsoever. Her response that we got was she was just uncomfortable with the women. No help, no second chance even though we were responsible, careful and willing to take proper instruction. Yes we were new but we were not goofing off in the slightest. We saw other people before us making mistakes but those men stayed. Really confusing and really we were so excited to be there. It totally ruined our day and even lingered into the weekend.

Last weekend I took an intro course that included learning Wobble, and Steve was my instructor. He did an OUTSTANDING job of helping me familiarize myself with the firearm, how to properly handle it, and introduced me to firing techniques. Hes a super fun guy and will give you excellent tips on bettering your aim. I really enjoyed this course and highly suggest it!

So much fun! I have never handled a gun before and this was my first time shooting a firearm. It was pouring rain in April when we were there, but that didnt matter. Highly recommended, even if youre not normally a firearms person! Bud, our guide, is fantastic! Will definitely be a regular visitor. I highly recommend you give this range a shot; I certainly had a blast.

I try to shoot here are much as possible, and the hours are not terrible (being closed Monday and Tuesday to the public). A 25 round is around $6 which is manageable. Sure it would be cheaper to buy a 90 pack of targets for $6, but then where can you shoot it in Northern VA? And who is going to throw it for you?Their ammo on site is also competitive with what you would pay bulk from an online store and they always have plenty of ammo. The best thing about the facility is the fact that you can easily rent O/Us from them for cheap. This is a great place to bring friends for an outing, corporate events, or just to hone your own personal skills. Whenever I want to get together with the boys, this is the first place I suggest and we can all have fun, even if people dont have their own personal shotguns. It can get crowded on the Wobble stands (there are two of them but they only open up the second one when necessary). Sometimes when I am there at 3pm I am literally the only one which isnt any fun either! The staff are all friendly and eager to help. The facility is located near 66 and Route 28 so it is easily accessible as well.

Great facility! Beautiful, and nicely laid out. The shooting stations are far enough apart that you feel privacy, but not so far as to be an uncomfortable walk. The automated skeet system is very easy to use, and the stations fire them in diverse ways to keep it interesting. No cases in the facility, bring your weapons in uncovered, and there are trolleys for rent inside.

This place has me hooked on clays now! My wife and I took the intro class a few months ago and we recently went out for a few games of wobble with some friends. This place is awesome and a great gem here in NOVA. Tons of shotgun games to play and never a long wait (sometimes a 10min or so wait for Wobble). Ammo prices are great and prices for games are great too. Employees that run the games are friendly and happy to lend advice to shooters. Nice O/U rental guns available (12&20g).Now the real treat is the sporting clay course. 13 stations in different environments (open area, wooded). Great trajectories and perfect for waterfowl season prep! Overall just a real laid-back place where new and veteran shooters alike can feel comfortable and have fun

This is a great place to shoot wobble, trap, skeet, and sporting clays. Friendly staff, gun rental available, relatively cheap price. And also the good introductory Learn to Shoot class thats offered four times each day on weekends is minimal, but adequate.I wish there were more stations, as the wait gets to over an hour on a cool Saturday. There are 2 wobble, 1 trap, 2 skeet stations (1 extra station is reserved for class on weekends. Also wish one can buy another round after four, especially when there is nobody waiting (like after a drizzle). One thing I find very good is that the pull is done by staff in late 2017, and they keep your score, so you know your score after a round.

Al
Review №32

The staff and the people here are super friendly. No complaints there. But they only ever want to run one skeet field and one trap field. They do not allow you to pull for yourself should you want to run the second field yourself. And there always seems to be newcomers at the range, which is completely fine and out of the control of the range, but this exacerbates the issues caused by the single field policy that they seem to live by. It can routinely take you 45 minutes to shoot one round of skeet because theres 7 people on the field and 4 of them dont know how to play and there are no other open fields.

Terrible customer service experience today. Line for wobble was over an hour so they opened a second stand which we were next in line to use. Machine broke after waiting 30 minutes and the other stand had at least 20 people waiting already. Nothing in a way of apology or crowd control. Went in for a refund and the clerk was unapologetic and acted annoyed. Messed up the refund and I had to ask for the correct amount. A comped future game would have been appropriate but even a hey man, that sucks how can we fix it would have done wonders.Other people in line with us were equally screwed, very disappointing as Ive had good experiences in the past. Will not return.

The place is great, .. the facilities are awesome.I like going there for sporting clays, and I love to bring my dog with me. They have 14 stations, and for just a couple bucks you can spend a nice day out thereThe only reason I did not give it 5 stars is due to the barrel requirement they have. They have a 24 inch barrel requirement, and my shotgun is 25 inches... but I probably have gotten stopped and measured 2-3 times a year. It is just annoying, and I do not understand the requirement reason at all. It is not any safer to shoot a 22 inch barrel or an 18 inch barrel at sporting clays.I worked on MCB Quantico and we had trap and skeet... and we had no requirements.. worked just fine. Only thing that erks me... so if you are reading this just make sure you are in their regulations and bring a 24inch + barrel.
