These people are absolutely fantastic. I had them build a Druids Palm stone and they did an awesome job with black obsidian on one side and milky quartz on the other. Craftsmanship is top notch. Highly highly suggest having all your stone worked on here. Definitely a 10 out of 10.

My kids and I had visited once before and loved the museum. We wanted to go again for something to do on Tuesday, December 31st around noon. I checked the internet website and called before attempting to visit with our out of town guests to make sure the museum was open. Nothing was mentioned about being closed anywhere: not online, not on the phone recording. We all got ready and arrived at the museum to find it was closed. We had to try the door because there was no notice even on the door that they were closed. My kids were devastated and cried and my out of town guests were disappointed. PLEASE, let people know if you are closing during your normal business hours!!!

This is a fabulous geologic / rock museum. If you want to wander through time, this is the place for you. From dinosaur bones to fossils of every kind, you will find wonder in the Crater Rock Museum. Of course the museum has just about every kind of rock and rock artifact you can imagine from crystals to fine gems. They have a room of rocks that come to life (brightly) in black light. See all kinds of artifacts made from stones. If you are the kind who likes to work with rocks, create things they have a wonderful workshop with polishers, cutters, and just about every tool you would need to work on rocks. You can get training and make something very special. However this place is special in and of itself. Take a visit.

Museum is open Tuesday thru Saturday 10-4. They offer a wide variety of rocks and crystals from around the country and locally. Lots of rooms with many collections from crystals to petrified wood, dinosaur eggs, arrow heads, and much more. A lot of history is involved in this museum also. Its easy to spend over an hour or more exploring all they have to offer. They also do tours for groups which include slide shows of the local rocks and crystals found in our area and a brief history of how the museum came to be established, including the founders. The tour lasts a little over an hour. Call for details. They have a big gift shop with much to offer. Crystals, jewelry, toys and collectables. Well worth the visit.

So much information about Native American culture, our local history, and of course about the rocks themselves. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly (answering my sons 1 million questions). I like rock shops. But I went in with my service dog. she stayed by my side as I chose rocks to buy. My caregiver took some things to the register while I looked more. A man came over to me and said is this a service dog? I said yes. He asked more. I said, do you work here? (he looked like he was homeless, unkept, dirty, unshaven, belly showing under shirt, hair unkept). He was apparently the owner. I asked if he wanted us to leave. He said no. I got a couple more items then left. My dog was with me for a reason. She didnt disturb anything, leave a footprint, make a noise or anything disruptive. Not all disabilities are visible, and not all dogs wearing a jacket are real. But, when you question a person over and over without knowing the disability, you cause more harm than you know. AND to wait until my caregiver was out of hearing range and me alone was cowardly. What you did sir, was WRONG! It was HARMFUL! It was HARRASSMENT! It was damaging. It was illegal.

This place ROCKS! They have very beautiful specimens. I took my 3 year old daughter and my 5 year old son they got bored because they didnt want to enjoy every rock. The first part you walk into is he gift shop part and all the minerals are on glass displays so be careful with young kids. Soon as you leave the gift shop though you enter the museum portion. The minerals are behind glass and it is a lot better for children. They have fossils, arrow heads, a good display of flouresent minerals. My favorite was the sabortooth tiger skull fossil. For a little more money you can pay for a membership to use their lapadariy equipment. Definitely a most see for all rock lovers.
