I started as a basic beginner and after many years of progressing through the proper steps of drawing and painting I have reached a point where I feel confident and comfortable in painting figurative and portrait work. Ms. Chipana is a creative instructor immersed in the traditional classical style which emphasizes drawing to acquire am understanding of shape, proportion, value and form followed by painting, color theory and composition. She is a knowledgable and compassionate instructor who aims to guide the beginner artist to mastering the skill necessary to achieve success. She offers many demonstrations, careful and clear step by step explanations of the processes needed to begin to understand these skills in order to complete complex projects. I have studied throughout Long Island and NYC and she is by far the most versatile, kind and compassionate instructor I have worked with. I have watched her over the years successfully work with the absolute beginner and develop the necessary skills and confidence needed to progress toward their personal goals.
