A beautiful overlook. A peaceful place to spend some time enjoying the splendor of Nature

The Roanoke Mountain has been a favorite of mine for while. Though, if youre traveling you should know the mountain closes during the winter seasons here and usually opens up sometimes in March! Due to strong winds, snow, and ice storms, that curvy 4 mile loop can be dangerous! Dont plan to stop here between November to March because its closed for thru traffic! I do believe youre allowed to walk up the mountain if you park down the road a bit. I do reccomend doing that because views are beautiful and you get to see the entire Roanoke Valley! There are 4 overlooks. The first over looks the Valley and its beautiful, the second isnt much if an over look, the 3rd is a nice place to journal, watch the sunset, or enjoy some alone time, and the 4th overlook is the main thing. The fourth overlook is the end, but you have ALMOST a 360 view up there. Perfect for sunrise or sunset, hanging a hammock, theres also a half a mile trail up there thats really nice to walk on! The mountain is only open from sunrise to dusk! Definitely check it out.
