We enjoy the overlook in this area, with the wide view of the beautiful trees. The playground is small, but there are some great places to walk and hike around. We have returned many times to admire the trees, especially in the fall. The trail was not as clear as usual the most recent time we went, but we could still find our way. Some of the trails are pretty steep here, so not great for young kids, but good for older kids and adults who enjoy hiking.

This is a hidden gem. The playground is great and there are several trails that begin or end right there. It is a short hike over to the swinging bridge and a beautiful hike

Love this park. Please, if you pack it in, pack it out. Dont litter. As more people have flocked to parks, Ive noticed more trash and debris here. They do not have waste disposal here, so plan accordingly.

Plenty of parking although may need a quick walk to pavilion. Large grill and nice horseshoe pits (although they felt at least 5 feet shorter than regulation). Bathrooms on site. Only negative is no trash cans anywhere.

Its a quiet, peaceful place to camp within minutes of Baltimore, and all the suburbs. After dealing with pandemic lockdown blahs, I decided to take my daughter here for a weekend of camping: a staycation w/o really leaving town. Perfect. The rangers & camp host are lovely, and helpful, and there are dozens of trails, playgrounds, and river access spots to the cool water. Definitely the best vacation w/o taking a vacation that weve had for ages. And the playground was right next to our site!

Small park with well maintained trails and nature center. We utilized a nice orienteering course laid out with most of the posts located close to the trails and designed for new to the sport oriented. Nice time!

We had a blast check out the Tire Park (I love that it has so much shade coverage!) and playground (the last time I was here 2ish yrs ago, the playground was still under construction). We didnt get to explore the nature center today, but had a great time exploring nature and playing with our friends.

Took the kids here for their first time camping, and it was such a great experience. The park is nestled behind a neighborhood and once you get there you feel transported miles away to the middle of nowhere. Fantastic local park, its become a mainstay for us for when we cant travel far and just want to stay a night or two camping.

There are lots of things to climb and play on here. They have lots of pavilions in various sizes and we love coming to parties here! Pavilion #217 is our favorite... small but very close to the playground and has a good view of the main park! There are lots of good walking trails, a nature center, and grills available for anyone who wants to have a cookout. It costs a small fee to get in usually, and it goes toward preserving and maintaining the Patapsco State Park!

Really really cool place. Weve done our annual Department picnic here three out of the last four years, everyone has been fantastic. The rental rates for Pavilions are totally reasonable, the entry fee is minimal, and its just a beautiful park with nice amenities. Plenty of places for the kids to play, things for them to learn, lots of hiking lots of nature. Highly recommend.

The important thing is if you check in after sunset when the gates close you will need to call the park for someone to come and open the gate for you. We had to do that and the park staff was prompt in reacting to our request. Rustic cabin 284 was clean and nice. Shower was less than 2mins walk from the cabin and was also clean. Shower felt a little clumsy but was not too bad for a couple of days. We were very impressed to see how the camp site itself was so clean and well maintained. Camp host was very nice and made us comfortable. They had a 30 min event on a Saturday night. There were lots of trails around but me and my wife left they could have done a better job in marking the trail path to guide hikers. Though the trail around the lake was nice and straight forward and was fun! We are coming back to this park soon!!

The firewood that we are required to use would not catch fire. We brought a dinner to make on the fire but as hard as we tried and as many as small fires as we started, we could not get the fire we spent money on to remain lit. Other campers were also experiencing the same problem and trying to soak theirs in lighter fluid. We had to leave the park that night due to not being able to use the wood. We are not new to camping or to fire building, and we were very disappointed in the amount of work we were putting into that fire just to ultimately not be able to even spend the night there. The space is pretty but if you want any kind of privacy this is not the place for you.

Its a nice place to take a walk through nature, there is a river that runs alongside the trail as well as a somewhat bouncy bridge suspended by Steel wires. Theres a small waterfall with rocks running across its base in that you can use to cross to the other side of the trail. Sometimes it can be slippery so be careful especially in fall when there are a lot of fallen leaves.

Nice place to bring the kids on weekends. They have 2 large playground kids will love and lots of picnic tables and grill. The nature center is also a place to visit as kids will learn a lot. I have not swimmed there yet because swimming is at your own risk and I have young kids.

My fiance and I invited another couple to go camping with us for a weekend. We found Patapsco and decided to go there since it was so close to Baltimore. We really liked the park. It was well maintained and clean! The only down part was how dirty the river was. There were tires and bricks in the water. We didnt even have to think twice before needing to wear shoes. I wouldnt recommend going in that water barefoot! Otherwise, the rest of the park was great! The hiking trails were awesome and the swinging bridge was really neat. We stayed in the Hilton area on a tent site next to the dumpster, which wasnt even close to the site so there were no problems. The bath house was really clean and nice. The Camp Host was great as well! Firewood is $5 a milk crate and she stuffs that crate full! We even had left over firewood! Definitely going back to Patapsco to explore more of the park!
